O wner s Ken & Di a ne W i lson
When Diane and Ken Wilson first visited Sonoma County they fell in love with the patchwork
of oaks, vineyards and expansive vistas. Diane and Ken are devoted to things they value
most—family and friends—and are committed to the stewardship and sustainable farming of
the Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys.
Diane, a native Californian, cherishes her high-energ y lifestyle that includes spending time
with her family, making wine at Wilson Winery and taking an active role in the community.
Ken, born and raised in Ontario, Canada, is robust and passionate about his vineyards and
wineries. It was Ken’s wisdom and vision that created the diversity of vineyard sources over the
years. These vineyards provide the premium quality fruit that has brought notable recognition
to the Wilson Artisan Wineries.
Diane and Ken have three children—Sydney, Victoria (Tori) and Sawyer.

Fa m i ly
Saw y er W ils on
Sawyer is Ken and Diane’s youngest child, and only son. He is currently working in the Tasting Room at both
Mazzocco and Matrix. Sawyer is taking courses at the Santa Rosa Junior College and plans to transfer to UC
Davis where he will pursue a degree in Landscape Architecture. Like his family, Sawyer takes a hands-on
approach to all he does and enjoys transforming the environment around him. Whether he is caring for his
bearded dragon Archibald Cornwallis, or riding his motorized scooter, one thing is certain - his mop of curls
is every girl’s envy.
V ictoria Wils on
Victoria is Ken and Diane’s second daughter and middle child. She graduated from UCLA in 2010 with a
degree in Environmental Science. She has since been involved in all aspects of the family business, working
two consecutive harvests in Production in 2010 and 2011 at deLorimier, and has recently taken on the
position of Tasting Room Manager at Soda Rock Winery. In her free time she can be found touring the
world, having visited South America, Europe, Morrocco, and most recently, three months in India. While
Victoria is uncertain which aspect of the business she will ultimately end up involved in, one thing is absolute
– wine is her passion.
Sy d ne y Wils on
Sydney is Ken and Diane’s first born child. She attended San Diego State University and graduated in 2009
with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Marketing. Following her studies, Sydney moved to London
for an internship with a prestigious Design firm. After working there for nearly two years, she returned home
wealthy in experience and simultaneously appreciative of the bounty of her homeland. She has since applied
her creativity and methodical work ethic toward managing and marketing the accommodations offered
throughout the Wilson Artisan Wineries, including two B&B’s, two guest cottages and six vineyard suites.

Diane Wi l son
Honored as Woman Winemaker of the Year in 2008, and winning multiple
back-to-back Sonoma County Harvest Fair and San Francisco Chronicle Sweepstakes,
Diane Wilson has shot to the forefront of the Sonoma County wine industry. These
highly–regarded awards, coupled with dozens of 90+ scores and over 100 Gold Medals,
demonstrate Diane's strong track record as an outstanding winemaker.
Diane describes her winemaking style as unorthodox. “My goal is to maximize the fruit
flavor of the grape, making sure each wine has a front, a middle and a back, so it
produces a full, rich mouth feel. To do this, it is all about balance. It is about having
the right amount of skin contact during fermentation to extract flavor and color
without getting too much tannin. It is about leaving the wine to age in barrels for the
ideal length of time to soften the tannins awhile, adding the flavor of oak without
overpowering the delicate flavors of the fruit."
With wines named after each of her three children, Diane’s biggest passion in life is her
wonderful family.

"My wines are like my children; I don't really have a favorite, but every year a different
one needs a little extra attention."
Anto in e Favero
Winemaker Antoine Favero has a colorful personal history. He was born in the
Champagne region of France, but at an early age moved with his family to a Peruvian
coastal fishing village in South America. When Antoine was nine years old, he and his
family relocated to Northern California’s wine country, and the rest is history !
Antoine quickly developed a passion for the art and science of creating exceptional
wines in Sonoma County.
Mazzocco winemaker since 2005, Antoine believes wines are “nurtured” rather than
“produced.” His wines express the unique varietal and terroir characteristics of each
vineyard site. There is no one more in tune with his Zinfandels, his wines than
Antoine. Each is a unique piece of work and tribute to the vineyard and grapes used to
make the wine.
With hundreds of gold medal awards, and numerous 90+ ratings; Antoine’s wines are
flavorful and completely unique.

Chris Barrett
A Native of Sonoma County, Winemaker Chris Barrett has always had a passion for
wine. His first taste of wine making came at a very young age while helping his father
make wine in their garage. Honing his skills over the years, today Chris brings a high
level of expertise and an eye for detail to every bottle of wine he produces.
Joining Pezzi King in 2007, Chris recently won unprecedented “Double Sweepstakes”
awards at the 2012 Sonoma County Harvest Fair. It is the first time in the history of
the Harvest Fair a winemaker has walked away with 2 of the top 3 awards.
When Chris is not making wine he enjoys time with his wife, Angela and their two
sons and they often go fishing together.
W in erie s
Pezzi King | St. Anne’s Crossing
“Pezzi King holds high expectations for the fruit and the wines that are produced. It is up
to me to maintain that level of quality.”
Fre d Ni ckel
Fred’s rich winemaking history, includes producing award winning wines from
neighboring estates for the last 23 years. His Mendocino County winemaking
pedigree enhances the Wilson Family wine making legacy, created in Sonoma County.
In addition to his expertise as a winemaker, Fred lends his skill and knowledge as a
Distiller, producing Alambic brandy at Jaxon Keys. Built from a 15th Century design,
the French alambic pot still produces Cognac exclusively from estate-grown French
Colombard. One of only a handful of pot stills in the New World, it takes Fred’s
expert hand and know-how to make it all come together.
Fred brings his passion for life to his winemaking and distilling , finding joy in
producing such fine wines and spirits.

Juan Rodriguez has been the Wilson Estates vineyard manager since the beginning ,
responsible for over 300 acres of prime Sonoma County vineyards. Soil is in his blood,
and his knowledge of vineyards, grapes and how to coax them to perfection is what
makes Wilson Artisan wines stellar.
Working along side his brother and family, Juan tends the vines, nurtures them through
rain or shine, protects them from ill, and cares for each one like a member of the

Wilson Winery was built on tradition and family—much like its landmark
barn anchored to the eastern rim of the legendary Dry Creek Valley. When
Ken and Diane Wilson opened the century-old cellar doors, they began to
share more than their extraordinary wines, they offer a view into a wine
valley's history and a legacy of winemaking.
It was in 1993 when the Wilsons took on the restoration of the old tin
barn—once the Chris Fredson Winery—complete with the original redwood
vats and tanks. Today this historic barn houses modern stainless steel tanks
and a new collection of French and American oak barrels for aging the
Wilsons’ Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petite
Sirah.
More than a home for Wilson wines, the old tin barn is the homestead for
their growing family of boutique wineries they nurture and are proud to call
Wilson Artisan Wineries.

2011 Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley
Technical Data:
Harvested: October 2011
Appellation: Dry Creek Valley
Varietal: 95.3% Zinfandel, 4.7% Petite Sirah
Barrels: 30% New French
Vineyard: Wilson Dry Creek Valley Estate
Alcohol: 15.7%
Total Acidity: .58 grams/100 ml
pH: 3.68
Cases Produced: 496
Winemaker Notes:
The nose offers a lovely integration of spicy blackberry and toasty oak with just the
right dusting of white and black pepper. Smooth and spicy, this Zin goes down easy.
The delicious mix of berries—blackcurrant, raspberry and a touch of blueberry—and
baking spices blends with pepper and oak notes as the wine lingers on the palate.
When you want a treat yourself to a Dry Creek Valley Zin at a value price, grab this
wine. It goes great with everyday fare—burgers, pizza or mac & cheese—or can go
upscale and pair well with prime rib. However, you may find it is so easy to sip while
cooking the bottle might be nearly empty by dinner, so be sure to have extra on hand.

Ken and Diane Wilson first made a name for themselves specializing in Dry
Creek Valley Zinfandels. Thus the purchase of Pezzi King Vineyards is an
ideal match for the Wilson family’s philosophy of producing small quantities
of high-end, handcrafted wines. The Wilsons, who are the owners of two
other highly regarded Zinfandel-producing small wineries, Wilson Winery
and Mazzocco Sonoma, are thrilled to have this 137-acre farm set in the hills
above Dry Creek Valley. At the heart of this beautiful property are the
vineyards, 65 acres of world-class Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon—which
allow the Wilsons to continue their commitment to producing only the finest
wines possible while investing in the personal relationships with their
clientele through private wine club participation.
Ken Wilson commented that, “I’ve always admired Jim Rowe and the Pezzi
King wines, especially the estate Zinfandels. Pezzi King changed the way we
looked at Zinfandel and turned the local winemaking world upside down
with its 1995 Zin. Its rich, jammy, and fruit-forward style became the new
standard of excellence in Zins.”
No where in America are conditions better suited to producing world-class
Zinfandels than Pezzi King’s home: the Dry Creek Valley.

Vineyard: Pezzi King Estate
Alcohol: 14.2%
Total Acidity: 0.68 gm/100ml
pH: 3.34
Cases Produced: 450

Outstanding aromas of fresh cut lemon peel team with sliced persimmon and

Ken Wilson started planting grapes in Sonoma in the 80's and his vineyards
are unexpected and diverse. The diversity offers the winemakers of Matrix
the gift to hand-select grapes from the estate vineyards - block by block and
sometimes even row by row.

Alexander Valley is often referred to as “California’s Bordeaux”, as the local
landscape is itself a genuine mosaic of soil types and microclimates. Some of
the finest grapes in the world are grown here making this a winemaker’s
dream location for producing world-class wines. So when Ken and Diane
Wilson discovered this property they knew at once this would be their new
Cabernet Sauvignon Showcase. deLorimier wines are known more for the
character of the estate than for the varietal content.
Founded in 1986 by Al deLorimier the winery and vineyard were well
thought out and beautifully planted and developed into the Estate it is today.
Focusing on blending , our production facility is set up for the blending and
aging of many small lots. With our focus on single vineyard designate
Cabernets, winemakers Diane Wilson and Antoine Favero are combining
their talents and producing award winning artisan wines. With a fabulous
line up of ten Cabernet Sauvignons as well as Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc,
Malbec, Zinfandel, and their signature Meritage, deLorimier is the winery to
visit when in Sonoma County.

When Diane and Ken Wilson first visited the Mendocino County property
they fell in love with the patchwork of California oaks and the Russian River
running along the vineyards. Bringing this historic Mendocino winery and
vineyard back to life was a challenge they could not pass up. Ken is passionate about all his vineyards and wineries as well as their
importance to the communities and historical significance. The Mendocino
property being an intact Spanish landgrant parcel dating back to 1858 and
the Estates first vineyards being planted in 1960 with one of the oldest
bonded wineries in Mendocino County commencing production in 1984…
reminded him of his grandfathers with their passion for farming and the
land. Ken and Diane honored them both, Jack Wilson and Cecil Keys, with a
new label and the Jaxon Keys brand was born.
Jaxon Keys Estate Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, French Colombard and
Viognier vineyards are situated on Russian River frontage of fertile, alluvial
soils perfect for producing quality white winegrapes. Our site-specific clones
of hillside Estate Zinfandel, Syrah, Petite Sirah and Grenache Noir gain their
intensity and focus from shallower, drier, and less fertile soils—the classic red
winegrape landscape.
Di sti l l er y
The Jaxon Keys distillery houses a 19th century
Alambic Pot still that to this day produces awardwinning brandy. The French alambic pot still produces
Cognac made exclusively from estate-grown French
Colombard. One of only a handful of pot stills in the
New World, Jaxon Keys’ winemaker Fred Nickel lends
his knowledge and expertise in producing these
fine spirits.

Soda Rock is steeped in history, and if the mossy old stone walls could talk,
we’d hear some colorful stories. We strive to honor what has transpired here
over the past 150 years. Many of our wines pay tribute to Soda Rock’s past.
The Meeks Merlot is named for Tom Meeks, winery/property owners from
1904-1925, and the Wentworth Zinfandel for Fred Wentworth, the owner of
the Alexander Valley store around 1870.
Soda Rock is the original site of the Alexander Valley general store and post
office, and was once the central hub of activity for the valley. Historic records
provide evidence of the first bonded winery on this property in 1880. Many
locals remember Soda Rock Winery from the 1980s, when the Tomka family
temporarily revived the old site.
Nestled in Sonoma County’s scenic Alexander Valley, Soda Rock Winery
offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy an eclectic mix of wine-country
experiences. Sip a delicious array of wines with a focus on Bordeaux varietals.
View the splendid surroundings and appreciate the historical buildings that
have been beautifully restored using green building and recycling practices.
With a large line-up of Cabernet Sauvigons and Bordeaux varietals, Soda
Rock wines are big & bold, just like its’ historic past.

St. Anne’s Crossing Winery is the latest winery in the Wilson Artisan
Winery family and is the brainchild of Ken and Diane Wilson. Centrally
located in the heart of Sonoma Valley in Kenwood across the street from
Chateau St. Jean. Primary focus is on Zinfandel from small vineyards
throughout Sonoma County. Zinfandel from Sonoma County truly reflects
the terroir of the vineyards and shows the variety of flavors capable of the
popular varietal.
Formerly the original St. Francis Winery, Ken and Diane Wilson purchased
the property in 2012. They envisioned creating a destination winery in the
Sonoma Valley that focused on a varietal popular in Sonoma County
(Zinfandel). Their affinity for Sonoma County is reflected their vineyards
practices—a commitment to the stewardship and sustainable farming
throughout Dry Creek, Alexander and Russian River Valleys. These
vineyards provide the superb quality fruit that has brought notable
recognition to the Wilson Artisan Wineries.
Taking inspiration from Ken’s home country, Canada, the property’s name
and wine names are an homage to some of his favorite places in beautiful
British Columbia.

$17,000 was awarded to 20 recipients from Sonoma County. We are united
in the mission to expand access to education for the children of our
community. For more information, visit: www.sonomacountyfarmbureau.com
“It literally just got started by seeing all my guys working for me, and all the
hardships they’ve gone through and all their kids,” says Ken Wilson. “You
look at it all and say, wow, we need to help out a little bit. The scholarships
came from that.”
The award isn’t just for children whose parents work for the Wilsons—all in
need are encouraged to apply. And the program is administered by the
Sonoma County Farm Bureau.
Tim Tesconi, Community Relations Coordinator for the Bureau, says that
the program is unique in the industry and allows children to pursue their
education at a myriad of universities and colleges including UC Davis, San
Francisco State, Fresno State, Sonoma State University, and Santa Rosa
Junior College.
“I don’t know of anything else like it, anywhere,” he says. “It’s a way for
children to start their education and continue on. We’re a farm organization,
but I don’t recall any of the recipients majoring in agriculture. Most of them
are going on to other fields. They study everything from law to medicine to
sociolog y.”
Many recipients come back and share their experiences—and their
appreciation. “It’s the most rewarding thing in the world,” says Wilson.
“When you help kids and they come back and are appreciative, that’s
definitely a good feeling.”
