An afternoon walking tour of Biella will be followed by dinner in a lively restaurant located in the Medieval village of Piazzo. (D) Day 2 Fri Biella/Roppolo/Ricetto di Candelo/Biella This morning we travel to the village of Roppolo to visit a castle on the hills overlooking Lake Viverone and to visit its “Serra” wine cellar for a tasting of Piemonte’s sparkling wines and grappa. We then continue to Ricetto di Candelo, a Medieval fortified village built between the 13th and 14th centuries to protect food supplies, as well as the farmers’ possessions in moments of extreme danger. Lunch is included in a typical local restaurant. Walking in the long “rue” (streets) paved with river cobblestones, between the high walls and the vigilant towers, time seems to have stopped and visitors can lose themselves among hidden courtyards, frescoed walls and dark storerooms full of objects, which are evidence of how hard people worked long ago. Overnight in Biella. (B,L) Day 3 Sat Biella/Oropa/Sordevolo/Biella Today we explore the Sacred Mountains of Piemonte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Oropa, placed at 3,900 feet above sea level, is tied to the cult of the Black Madonna. After a visit of the Sanctuary we head to Sordevolo a village where, every 5 years since the beginning of the 18th Century, a Passion Play is performed with all the actors being local village people. After a visit of the museum you will enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D) Day 4 Sun Biella/Asti/Bra Today begins with a stop in Desana for a visit of a rice factory, where during your lunch you will enjoy a tasting of different rice types and an explanation of why certain rice varieties make better risottos. Later, we continue on to the Medieval town of Asti. Famous for its sparkling Spumante wine, Asti is the principal town in one of the world’s most important wine–producing provinces, and point of reference in the development of new agricultural practices for Italy and Europe. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Bra. (B,L,D) Day 5 Mon Bra/Langhe Hills/Bra Today we venture into the Langhe Hills, home of the famed Barolo wine. The visit of WI MU, Wine Museum at the Barolo Castle will be followed by a wine tasting at the Marchesi di Barolo estate and cellars. Continue to Alba, a city known for its white truffles, peaches and wine production, for an orientation tour. In the evening we dine at the famous Murivecchi, a delightful osteria in Bra. Overnight in Bra. (B,D) Day 6 Tue Bra/Turin This morning we arrive in Turin, Italy’s first capital. After a visit of the Basilica of Superga, we stop at Eataly, an outstanding fine foods venue where you can eat and shop for gastronomic delights. Afternoon at leisure. (B,L) Day 7 Wed Turin In the afternoon we tour the city and learn of Turin’s earliest Italian automotive industries and how the city today has become a dynamic cultural and artistic hub. The charm of Turin is reflected in the Royal Residences, listed as a “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO. Other noteworthy sights are the Mole Antonelliana, the Porte Palatine and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Containing the finest collection of Egyptian artifacts outside of Cairo, the Egyptian Museum is definitely worthy of a visit. Tonight, enjoy a delightful farewell dinner in a local restaurant. RESERVATIONS/PAYMENT BREAKDOWN: A deposit is required at the time of booking and NO request will be acted upon until a deposit is received. Bookings made online must be paid in full at time of booking. We honor most major credit cards. No third party credit cards will be accepted. In addition, we also accept personal checks or agency checks. Deposits can be conveniently made by phone. Final payment with credit cards requires our signed Credit Card authorization form (except for online bookings), validated by the credit card holder. Other restrictions may apply. Deposit Requirements: A $200 per person deposit is due at time of booking. Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure. Car Rentals: A $100 per car deposit is due at time of booking. Final payment for packages including a car rental is due 60 days prior to departure. Cruises (except Greece cruise packages): Due to our suppliers’ individual policies, requirements for deposits will be communicated at the time of booking. LATE BOOKINGS (Reservations made within 35 days of departure date): Payments must be made within 24 hours of booking by certified check, wire transfer or credit card, and are subject to a $25 latebooking fee, plus any costs incurred to ensure timely document delivery. Late bookings will incur a 100% cancellation penalty. CANCELLATION POLICY: Cruises: Cancellation fees will be communicated at the time of booking. Rail Tickets and Airfares: • Cancellations received more than 46 days prior to departure: $200 per person fee. • Cancellations between 45 and 22 days prior to departure: 25% of the land package. • Cancellations between 21 and 15 days prior to departure: 40% of the land package. • Cancellations between 14 and 8 days prior to departure: 60% of the land package. • Cancellations 7 days or less prior to departure: 100% of the land package. NOTE: No refunds will be made on any unused portion of the tour package. Should we cancel a departure for any reason whatsoever, including insufficient number of participants, a full refund of all monies paid will be made. Villas/Castles & Home Rentals: Visit: www.centralholidays.com Car Rental: • Cancellations received up to 15 days prior to departure: $25 per car • Cancellations received 14 days or less prior to departure: $50 per car • No refunds for any unused portion of 3 days or less. NOTE: For unused rentals of 4 days or more, unused portions may be refunded minus a $25 handling fee. Rail Tickets: Rail tickets (point to point) and Rail Passes are nonrefundable and cannot be exchanged without penalties once issued, nor replaced if lost. Air Fares/Tickets: Our contracted airfares are refundable up to departure date less cancellation fees levied by each respective airline. Published airfares cancellation fees vary according to the airline used. NOTE: In all instances, regardless of the airfare used, “NO-SHOWS” are non-refundable including fuel surcharges and any airport or government taxes & fees. Once the air ticket has been issued, its cancellation penalty amount will be added to the LAND and LAND & CRUISE cancellation fees, unless the departure is cancelled by us, in that case there will be no cancellation fees for the LAND or LAND & CRUISE. We cannot be held responsible for the cancellation fees of air ticket/s issued by companies other than ourselves even in the case when we may cancel a departure for any reason whatsoever. Consult with our experienced reservations staff, your travel agent or the airline for the applicable penalties and/or restrictions. TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly recommend to purchase one of our Travel Protection Plan benefits. See Insurance page for further details. Insurance premiums are non-refundable. RESERVATION CHANGES: Due to the expense incurred in making any changes, a $50 fee ($25 for car rental) will be assessed for each change made on deposited bookings up to full payment due date. This includes changes made to passenger’s name, hotel, departure/return dates, itinerary and air or ground transportation. A change of tour date and name changes on ESCORTED, INDEPENDENT AND CRUISE PACKAGE TOURS within full payment date is treated as a cancellation. Also, any changes to the air portion, at any time, may be subject to additional charges as imposed by the respective airline. HOTELS: Hotels are classified according to government ratings, which vary from country to country. Such classifications and number of stars assigned have no corresponding value from one country to the next and may not reflect the expectations of US travelers. Accommodations are based on two persons sharing a twin-bedded room with private bath or shower at the hotel selected or similar. A single room may be provided at a supplement. In many cases, single rooms, though assuring privacy, are small and not as well situated as double room accommodations. In addition, rooms are assigned upon arrival based on current availability and may vary in size, amenities and location. Generally, triple rooms in Europe consist of two beds with a rollaway for a third party. This may not be comfortable for some travelers. We reserve the right to make substitutions with hotels of similar or higher ratings in any package. In the event a hotel substitution becomes necessary, a comparable class of hotel will be provided, however, amenities and location may not be the same. Air conditioning is available at most 4-star or higher hotels. However, foreign air conditioning & heating may not be regulated according to U.S. standards. Some tourist-class hotels may have air conditioning available, and some may charge a supplement. CRUISES: Cruise cabin assignments are run-of-the-ship based on selected category. CHILDREN CRUISE DISCOUNTS: Louis Cruises: 16 years and under are free; over 16 years are considered adults. Children discounts for all other cruise programs might be available. NOTE: In all cases, children must pay port taxes and fuel surcharges where applicable. MEALS: Meals are included as indicated under “Included Features” of each program. TOUR PARTICIPANTS: On ESCORTED TOURS, we do not accept children under 8 years of age because we have found they are too young to enjoy touring. On ALL OTHER PROGRAMS, there is no age limit. Land arrangements for infants under 2 years may be free of charge, providing parents pay directly to hotels for food, crib, etc. Disabled participants requiring to travel with a wheelchair must be accompanied by a qualified helper who assumes total responsibility for the disabled participant’s well-being. NOTE: Most transportation services (including motorcoaches), visited sites, and hotels are not equipped with wheelchair ramps. We cannot be held responsible if ramps are not available. Restrictions apply for CRUISES. We strongly recommend inquiring at the time of booking. To assure congenial membership, we reserve the right to accept or reject any person as a tour participant and to expel from the tour any participant(s) whose conduct is deemed incompatible with the interest of the tour group. Any incurred expenses will be charged to the expelled tour participant(s). TOUR DOCUMENTS: We are going “green” and will be issuing edocuments. If printed documents are requested, a fee of $15 will be charged for this service. Tour documents, including airline tickets, are sent out 3 weeks prior to departure date, provided payment in full has been received. We can only deliver paper documents to city addresses and not to P.O. Boxes. Overnight, Special Delivery, Saturday Delivery and shipments outside the continental USA are subject to additional fees. SIGHTSEEING & ITINERARIES: Sightseeing is included as per “Included Features” and is under the direction of licensed local guides where required. Entrance fees to all places visited are included where indicated. During holidays, some sights such as museums may be closed or unavailable for visits. We reserve the right to vary the sequence of sightseeing and/or to re-route or substitute the sightseeing. In either case, the itinerary content will be maintained. Optional excursions are offered in most cities. Your tour director and/or local representative will advise you of the optional excursions available to you, all of which must be purchased locally. There are no refunds for any unused portion of these excursions. TOUR SERVICES: If the services included in the tour cannot be supplied, or there are changes in an itinerary for reasons beyond our control, we will arrange for the provision of comparable services. Any resulting additional expense will be payable by tour participants; likewise, any resulting savings will be refunded to the tour participants by us. GROUND TRANSPORTATION (ESCORTED TOURS): Transportation is provided by private, air-conditioned motorcoach or other conveyance as specified in the itinerary. Transportation will be equipped with lavatories; however, due to operational issues - only for emergencies. Rest stops will be arranged to suit the needs of our travellers. We mandate SEAT ROTATION and SMOKING IS NOT allowed. TRANSFERS: Except for ESCORTED TOURS, transfers to/from arrival and departure city airports ARE NOT INCLUDED but can be provided for a fee. Travel Agents/Travelers are fully responsible to communicate any flight, time & routing schedule change, via email to Central Holidays. A change fee will be applied for each schedule change. No refund or credit shall be issued for any missed transfers resulting from incorrect flight information and/or delays beyond the standard waiting period (one hour). Transfers for Escorted Tours have no cash value. BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & HANDLING: The passenger is required to check with their respective airline for baggage allowance size, weight and excess baggage fees. Porterage is included at hotels ONLY on ESCORTED TOURS, and includes handling of one normal-sized suitcase per person. Wheeled carry-on cases are considered a normal piece of luggage. Additional baggage will incur a charge of $5 per piece per service, to be paid locally. In addition, we are not responsible in the event that luggage or tour participants’ belongings become damaged or lost, which occurrence must be promptly notified to and acknowledged by a recognized authority in writing. NOTE: We strongly recommend that you purchase one of our Travel Protection Plan benefits. TOUR ESCORT: As indicated in “Included Features”, a professional English speaking Tour Director accompanies each ESCORTED TOUR. Tour Director will not accompany while cruising in the Mediterranean. AIRFARES: All airfares, taxes and fuel surcharges are not confirmed until final payment is received. Any variations will be the client’s responsibility until final payment is received. We can offer any type of airfare – published or contracted. Please contact us for details. It is the passenger’s responsibility to reconfirm all flights 72 hours before flight date/time. Should the airline request, for any reason whatsoever, an unexpected issuance of air tickets, they must be immediately paid in full, regardless of any previous notification to passenger. SEAT ASSIGNMENT AND SPECIAL REQUEST: Requests for seat assignments, meal requirements, special services and frequent flyer miles (subject to specific airlines rules & availability), are at the sole discretion of the airline; please contact the airline directly. RAIL TICKETS/PASSES: Rail Tickets and Rail Passes are nonrefundable, non-transferable, cannot be exchanged without penalties once issued, nor replaced if lost. Point to Point tickets must be validated on location prior to embarking on your first train. PASSPORT/VISA: US citizens require a valid US passport. Non-US citizens should consult their travel agent or consulate. All passengers are responsible for ensuring they have the proper travel documents and MUST CHECK with the respective consulates or visa agency to determine whether any visas are required. POST TOUR INQUIRIES/CLAIMS: All claims must be received by Customer Relations either by email or USPS to our offices within 30 days after scheduled return date and will be promptly acknowledged. However related processing, verifications and settlements may take up to 60 days or longer. It is the responsibility of the client to document potential claims at the Point of Service in order for claim/refund consideration. When requesting a refund by e-mail for non-provided services, claimant must return the original service voucher by mail for said non-provided services in order for this request to be evaluated and eventually settled. TRAVELER’S COMMENTS: At the end of each holiday, you will have the opportunity to complete a Questionnaire about your tour. This form will be mailed to you with your final documents or distributed locally at your destination. This Questionnaire is also available on our website. Please take this opportunity to give us your comments on all aspects of your trip. This will help us maintain the high standards of quality and service that have been our trademark since 1972. You will receive a Gift Voucher for $25 per person for future travel – Our “thank you” for completing the Questionnaire and traveling with us. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE TRAVEL WARNINGS: In the case of a government issued warning, we will provide our utmost consideration to the severity of the warning and accomplish everything possible to safeguard the well-being of our passengers. We reserve the right to evaluate each booking on a case-by-case basis for potential refund, cancellation fees, re-scheduling of tours or itineraries and postponements. AGREEMENT: Payment of deposit and/or issue of final documents shall be deemed your consent to the terms and conditions herein. Each participant understands that CENTRAL HOLIDAYS will be accepting that participant’s booking in reliance upon such participant’s acceptance of the terms and conditions as outlined in this brochure. Terms and Conditions listed are those in effect at time of printing and will remain until replaced. Any new or re-issue of Terms and Conditions will replace all previous versions. No person, other than an authorized representative of CENTRAL HOLIDAYS is authorized, by a document in writing, to vary, add or waive any term or condition in this brochure, including any term or condition set forth in the preceding provisions. All transport onboard ship is provided subject to the terms and conditions of the Passenger Contract that you will receive with your final documentation. The Passenger Contract on cruise ships is governed by international law and may be subject to the Athens Protocol on Limits of Recoverable Damage as determined by the International Monetary Fund. ARBITRATION: Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating in any way to these Terms & Conditions, to this Tour Agreement, to the brochure, or any other information relating in any way to the trip, or to the trip itself shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration in Moonachie, New Jersey in accordance with the commercial rules of the American Arbitration Association then existent. In any such arbitration the substantive (but not procedural) law of New Jersey will apply. The arbitrator and not any federal, state, or local court or agency shall have exclusive authority to resolve any dispute relating to the interpretation, applicability, enforceability, conscionability, or formation of this contract, including but not limited to any claim that all or any part of this contract is void or voidable.
