Long-Range Application Focus - Copenhagen Sensor Technology
Ruggedized CST Electro-Op+cal Long-Range Surveillance and Cri+cal Infrastructure Protec+on Applica+ons Copenhagen Sensor Technology Border protec+on and surveillance The need for a higher security level to fight the rising threats of terrorism is increasing. Surveillance at borders to control and prevent any unlawful cross border ac+vity is therefore a poli+cal focus for many na+ons. The surveillance system used at borders has to be opera+ng regardless of weather or ligh+ng condi+ons. CST have developed a series of ruggedized electro-op+cal cameras for medium and long-range surveillance, named Spectrel. The Spectrel series are based on a highly sensi+ve colour CCD camera module and powerful zoom lens, ideal for day and night surveillance and to control remote borders both coast and land, with its herme+cally sealed rugged housing. The choice of camera type depends on how far, how wide a field of view you need and how closely you need to zoom in on an object. Also for perimeter protec+on of airports or ports real-+me imaging is an essen+al part of a system, where you can zoom in on and iden+fy the targeted objects and detect if it is a threat or not. CST also offers an integrated ruggedized pan and +lt long-range camera and laser illuminator. It operates in a temperature range from -40°C to 70°C, and has unique bore-sight reten+on, ensuring op+mal scene illumina+on regardless of distance to the object making it ideal for day and night surveillance for border protec+on, camp perimeter protec+on, homeland security and cri+cal infrastructure protec+on (CIP) applica+ons. Up to 1000 mm focal length – recognize a human at 8 km distance The Spectrel cameras from CST for midand long-range surveillance are ideal for applications where the ability to see far is critical. CST can make a camera up to 1000 mm focal length which equals being able to recognize a human at 8 km distance. Wide operating temperature range -40°C to 70°C As part of the housing being rugged the whole interior is also made to be operational even under temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C. True Day/Night Mode – Switchable colour and Near-IR imaging The Spectrel series have a switchable colour and Near-IR imaging function, which means you can use the camera both day and night. During daytime you can see many details with the colour imaging. During night you can switch to a Near-IR imaging which gives you a black/ white night vision. High-speed motorized zoom and focus, “Autofocus-on-demand” The Spectrel cameras have a high-speed motorized zoom with a travel time from wide to narrow Field of View of less than 5-8 seconds, depending on which camera you choose. In addition the cameras come with an “Auto-Focus on Demand”, which lets the camera control the focus automatically. Cri+cal Infrastructure Protec+on | Naval and offshore surveillance All of our power, water and general infrastructure systems such as railroads and roads have become increasingly threatened by terrorists all over the world. Therefore, security systems to protect such facili+es are cri+cal. It is not sufficient to detect an object or person, it is also needed to recognize and oen even iden+fy. With a CST daylight camera from the Spectrel series you can recognize and iden+fy the wanted object or person, up to 8 km away which gives you the advantage of reac+ng faster. On the offshore market it is important to secure wind turbines, so they do not get damaged by vessel collisions; with a surveillance system you can act proac+ve when the vessel is approaching. CST electro-op+cal cameras are ruggedized and herme+cally sealed to be opera+onal under humidity for the tough mari+me missions performed by naval vessels or patrol vessels. Commercial vessels at sea also need to be proac+ve in the threat of pirates approaching. By recognizing whether or not a boat is a threat in 8 km, the vessel can call for assistance and perform preven+ve ac+ons and escape the pirates to safe assets and lives. Protective, sealed housing meeting highest protection standards The surveillance of borders both on land and along the coastline is often placed in remote places, where maintenance can be difficult and costly to perform. Therefore CST cameras have a protective and sealed housing to reduce the need for maintenance. For offshore applications the cameras are sealed to withstand saltwater and humidity. Bore-sight retention within ±0,2 mrad Typical CST bore-sight retention is ±0.2 milli-radians, correspondent to staying within a target area of ±20 cm at a distance of 1 km, when zooming in. This unique capability is one of CST’s core competencies and offers you the advantage to stay on target when zooming in and out.
