Itinerary in Detail
DAY 1: ARRIVE IN BELIZE
Arrive Belize City International and set out West across Belize to Chaa Creek Cottages, a two hour drive
away. Chaa Creek is a beautiful, comfortable lodge set among a private 330 acre rain forest reserve on
the shores of the Macal River in Belize's Cayo District. Flower lined paths bring you to stucco cottages
with tall peaked palapa roofs and wooden shutters made from local materials. The spacious cottages have
private baths, tiled floors and decorations of colorful Guatemalan textiles. Meals at the full service
restaurant and bar are fresh and well prepared often featuring vegetables from the on site organic
garden. Other amenities include a full menu of activities, a natural history center and butterfly farm, a
full service spa, conference center and small gift shop featuring local crafts. Overnight in a Garden

*A 10% tip to Chaa Creek’s service staff is included in the trip costs. Off site drivers and guides are not
included you’re encouraged to tip what you feel is appropriate.
DAYS 2-3: RUINS AND RAINFORESTS ADVENTURES
Chaa Creek is well located in the Cayo District for numerous explorations into the Belizean rain forest.
These days are yours to choose your own activities at Chaa Creek. Spend time together in your secluded
suite, canoe on the gentle Macal River, hike in the surrounding forest with a naturalist guide, visit a
butterfly garden, go horseback riding, or caving explorations to see ancient Mayan ceremonial sites. One
full day tour and one half day tour are included during your 3 nights stay. Ask about an optional day trip
to the ruins of Tikal, Guatemala, two hours away over the Guatemalan border (at additional cost).

DAY 4: HUMMINGBIRD HIGHWAY TO PLACENCIA
Enjoy one of the most scenic drives in Belize along the Hummingbird Highway through the Maya
Mountains to Kanantik Resort on the Caribbean coast. Kanantik is built on a 1,300-foot private beach in
the South Stann Creek area, 18 miles south of Dangriga on the mainland of Belize. Enjoy over 300 acres
of pristine land, full of wildlife. Each thatched-roof cabaña is indulgently spacious and luxurious. The
main lodge is designed with a unique blend of Mayan tradition and contemporary style with handcrafted
furnishings and a large deck for relaxing. Your four nights stay includes breakfast, lunch and a three
course dinner each day as well as soft drinks, fresh squeezed juices and local cocktails and beers.

DAY 5-7: EXPLORE THE CARIBBEAN COAST AND REEF
These days you can explore more of Belize on the guided tours from Kanantik. Choose to spend your days
bird watching in the tropical forest, canoeing on nearby rivers in search of birds, crocodiles, iguana and
manatees, snorkeling the barrier reef or SCUBA two dives per day. All activities and gear are included,
plus enjoy unlimited use of the Hobie Cats and sea kayaks. Be as energetic as you like or choose to simply
relax by the pool or the on the secluded private beach! Overnight at Kanantik in an ocean front cabana.

Enjoy the morning on the beach before your flight back to Belize City to connect with your international

THE LODGE AT CHAA CREEK
Chaa Creek is a beautiful, comfortable lodge set among a private
330 acre rain forest reserve on the shores of the Macal River in
Belize’s Cayo District. Flower lined paths bring you to stucco

Kanantik is located on a 1,300-foot private beach on the coast of
Belize, 18 miles south of Dangriga on the mainland. Enjoy over
300 acres of pristine land, full of wildlife. Each of the 25 thatchedroof cabañas is spacious and intimately luxurious. The main lodge
is designed with a unique blend of Mayan tradition and
contemporary style with handcrafted furnishings and a large deck
for relaxing. Creole-Mediterranean cuisine is served in the
restaurant, prepared with a medley of local flavors and served by
the sea. Spend the rest of your time relaxing at the ocean front
pool and whirlpool or take out one of the complimentary kayaks
or Hobie cats.

Booking your Wildland Adventure
HOW TO RESERVE A TRIP
You can book online using our Reserve a Trip form or by calling one of our destination-expert Program
Directors at 1-800-345-4453. Your space on a trip is confirmed once we receive your reservation form
and the initial trip deposit.
Deposit requirements are as follows*:
• $500 per person for all trips in Central America.
• $700 per person for all trips in South America, the Middle East, Asia, the Mediterranean and
North America.
• 20% of land cost for all trips in Africa. This deposit is generally non-refundable.
*Additional deposits may be required for some trips. It may be necessary to adjust prices up or down 30 days before departure to
allow for changes in group size, rooming status or currency fluctuations. Full payment of the remaining trip balance is due 90
days prior to departure. Prior to departure, all travelers are required to sign a Release of Liability
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS
If you must cancel before departure, money will be returned less the cancellation fees charged by WA Inc.
plus any additional nonrefundable cancellation fees and payments already advanced to airlines, hotels
and local operators:

*Note: Cancellation may result in additional penalties charged by local hotels, operators and airlines, occasionally as much as

PRE-DEPARTURE SERVICES
Upon receipt of your deposit and completed reservation form, we will send you a comprehensive Predeparture Dossier. This contains our exclusive Wildland Adventures Destination Handbooks, country
map, immunization information, visa and other permit forms, a trip insurance policy, checklist, reading
list, travel gear catalog, cross-cultural information and optional trip extensions. You will receive a final
trip packet including Final Reminders and local contact information in your destination 2-3 weeks prior
to departure.

who are independent contractors. These local outfitters, lodges, hotels and other suppliers of your travel services will make every effort to
conduct this trip as described in the itinerary. It is however possible that due to transportation schedule changes, weather, delays and
unforeseeable acts of God, humans or nature, this itinerary may vary from what is described. Participants must assume all risks whether
identified in advance or unforeseen. All optional activities are at your own risk. Extra costs due to unexpected changes in your itinerary for
reasons beyond our control are not included. We highly recommend purchasing traveler’s insurance for trip delay, trip cancellation, baggage,
accident or sickness. Representatives are available for assistance at any time during your trip. If preferred hotels are not available, every attempt
