2012 Catholic Schools Music Festival Program
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS MUSIC FESTIVAL ADELAIDE FESTIVAL THEATRE ADVANCE AUSTRALIA FAIR Australians all let us rejoice For we are young and free, We’ve golden soil and wealth for toil Our home is girt by sea. Our land abounds in nature’s gifts Of beauty rich and rare, In history’s page let every stage Advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing Advance Australia fair. Beneath our radiant Southern Cross, We’ll toil with hearts and hands, To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands For those who’ve come across the seas We’ve boundless plains to share, With courage let us all combine To advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia fair. “Will you teach me how to dream?” … join us this evening in a celebration of music in this our 24th Catholic Schools Music Festival. Behind the curtain is a mass choir of 400 very excited students bursting with enormous energy as they wait to perform for you. Adding magic to the program will be a variety of support acts ranging from jazz groups, bands, vocalists and instrumentalists who will delight you with their talents. Tonight, when these performers make music, they invite you the audience to enter into the wonderful journey of emotions that music can evoke. We acknowledge and admire the tireless dedication of the Choir Trainers, Music Coordinators and the Festival Committee, who make this performance possible. We thank the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools, Catholic Education SA, school principals and you, the families and friends. Your role is vital in supporting and encouraging your children, which is paramount to our success. As educators we encourage students to aspire where they can experience something special and feel a sense of pride in their achievements. We hope from the moment you entered the theatre foyer this evening you sensed what a magical night this would be. The excited buzz in the auditorium is magnified back stage as the students of tonight’s performance wait to entertain you… “Will you teach me how to be, the only thing I can be … me?” Gennaro Mannella & Denise Rothall SR COLLEEN ROBERTS RSJ FOUNDER Gennaro Mannella CHAIRPERSON CSMF DENISE ROTHALL MUSIC DIRECTOR PAMELA BUCCINI PIANIST STEPHEN MILLAR SUPPORT ACTS VICKI M CGREGOR CSMF CONSULTANT Monday 17th FESTIVAL CHOIR SAINT DAVID’S ‘SlapstiX’ FESTIVAL CHOIR Oh Happy Day Edwin R.
