everybody that has helped with this issue from the inside and to behind
the screens. There are 4 email addresses above that you can submit to so
we can keep it alive. Lots of love.

+++
Did you know that your lipstick affects your teeth? It’s true! Orangetoned reds and pale shades like nudes or peaches can give your teeth a
yellowy appearance. Red lipsticks with blue undertones cause teeth to
gleam a brighter white.
+++
For those of us who are able to grow our nails in a feminine fashion,
here’s a tip about breakage. The strength of a nail lies in its shape.
An arched nail is much stronger than a flat one. For those who use
false nails, there are nails out there that have a durable and flexible
arch.
+++
I don’t normally discuss brands in this column, but this claim for Dove
Ultimate Visibly Smooth deodorant has me curious. According to what I
just read in Women’s World, this deodorant has a natural hair retardant
in it that will eventually let you stop shaving your underarms
altogether. Once again, caveat emptor!
+++
When applying blush, the preferred method is to lightly tap the brush
against the blush and then dab it on your cheeks. Most women tend to
sweep the brush around on the blush. This does nothing except to trap
blush in the bristles of the brush, and never make it to your face.
Additionally, the tapping method creates a great air-brushed and
perfectly blended look.
+++
Here’s a money-saving shampoo tip. Instead of just using the bottle
from the store, get a hand pump (generally found in the local dollar
store) and use it to dispense your shampoo. You’ll use less and save
some money and still get the clean you want. This is also applicable to
body wash.
+++
Ginger ale! What’s ginger ale doing in my article? Well, it’s here
because ginger ale can be used as a beauty aid. Take some ginger ale in
a mist-type spray bottle, mist it over damp hair, and scrunch your hair
as you blow it dry. The sugar in the soda will create texture that
helps to form waves as you scrunch.

Vaseline is a very useful product. I’ve talked about its virtues in
several past columns. Well, I’m about to do it again! Just before
bedtime, apply nail oil to your nails and then apply a light coat of
Vaseline. The gel seals the oil in place and lets it work on your nails
all night as you sleep
+++
Do you get frustrated when your lipstick wears after just an hour or
two? Here’s an idea to make your lip color last longer. After applying
your lipstick, lightly dust it with a powder blush in the same or a
similar shade. The powder will give the lipstick a smooth finish, and
the pigment in the blush keeps the color from fading.
+++
This is a fast way to tame the flyaway, unruly hair we all deal with
sometimes. Get a clean toothbrush and spray it with some hairspray.
Comb the toothbrush through the locks that are wild. The toothbrush
will spread the hairspray for a smooth and polished finish. Make sure
to wash the toothbrush afterward and keep it separate from the regular
ones!
+++
I get a LOT of beauty and fashion magazines at my house. Cosmo, Lucky,
Elle, Glamour, Women’s World, Seventeen (daughter, I swear!) – I get
them all. And almost al of them have an annoying trend: they stick
strips of perfume in the magazine. Well, here’s a couple of good uses
for those strip-scents:
If you find a scent you like, cut it out and put it in your closet, near
a light bulb. The heat of the bulb will diffuse the scent.
Again, cut the strip out of the magazine and put it in your purse or
bag. The scent will permeate the bag and you’ll enjoy it for some time
to come.
I know that for a lot of us, letter-writing is a lost art, in this
wonderful digital age of texting and e-mail. But occasionally the
personal letter, or the card, is sent in the mail. To add a nice scent,
cut a perfume strip out of a magazine and put it in the envelope before
or when you mail it. The scent will greet the recipient.
+++
Colored mascara is making a big comeback. Browns, blues, greens –
they’re all out there waiting for you to try them. If you have blue
eyes, try a gold tint mascara. Green or hazel eyes will benefit from a
mascara that has a hint of plum. And brown eyes like green tints.

You are getting ready to go out for the day, or the evening, and look at
your lips in the mirror. The winter air has made them dry and chapped,
not pretty whatsoever. The way to prevent this is to exfoliate your
lips once a week (at a minimum). There are plenty of lip scrubs on the
market, but here’s an ultra-cheap one you can make at home. Mix
together a tablespoon of brown sugar and a drop of olive oil. Massage
this mixture into your lips for about a minute and remove. Your lips
will be fuller, softer and prettier.
+++
Well, Mellissa got a nifty present for Christmas: the Ped-Egg.
Actually, a dollar store knockoff of the Ped-Egg, but I digress.
I was
a bit skeptical of the hype on this item, but I’m here to report that
I’m pleasantly surprised. I’ve used mine a few times now, and it’s a
quite pleasant experience. Highly recommended!
+++
On the other hand, while I’m on the subject of beauty items as seen on
TV, Let’s discuss the SmoothAway. This is the item that says you can
wipe away your unwanted body hair. Well, it just plain don’t work,
girls. I had the dubious pleasure of trying the SmoothAway overseas
several years ago, and al I got for my troubles was a red spot on my leg
under the offending hair. A GG friend of mine did the same test, and
she had the same result. To quote the Mythbuster boys: BUSTED!
+++
A final as seen on TV beauty product is still under my review. I
received a set of BumpIts for Christmas. The theory of the item is
simple, but I’m still figuring out the actual application. I can use
the small BumpIt fairly easily now, and it does make an interesting
hairdo. The larger two are still being figured out. If you’re going to
get set, watch the package: the do come in different colors for
different hair shades.
+++
All three of the items I talked about above are now turning up in places
like the dollar store and Big Lots as generic articles. I found my
knock-off Ped-Egg on the rack at the dollar store for (you guessed it) a
buck; the same store had a knockoff SmoothAway that works no better than
the brand name.. Big Lots has generic BumpIts in their beauty aisle.
Caveat emptor!

Quickie makeup sponge reminder: If you use a makeup sponge to apply your
foundation, lightly wet your sponge before you put foundation on. The
foundation will appear softer and has a more natural look to it.
+++
Wearing rings with gemstones make your hands look younger! This
perception is due to the way light is reflected by the gem. The
reflected light causes the skin to look brighter.

+++
A friend of mine recently experimented with a couple of blushes that she
was about to throw away. On a lark, she dumped the remaining contents
of both blushes into a sealable storage bag and shook the bag
vigorously. The mixture has become her new favorite blush color, and
she even found an old blush container at a thrift shop that she can
store it in.
Way to go, Theresa!
+++
OK, here’s a factoid that I just saw on the news channel crawl that’s a
total, ‘No, REALLY?!’ According to the news, women who wear heels and
walk with a wiggle in their step are seen as 50% more attractive then
women who don’t. Say it with me: NO, REALLY?!
+++
For those of us who use moisturizer as part of our beauty regimen (and
really, that should be everyone reading this!), try this in your beauty
routine. Give your moisturizer a moment or so before you apply your
makeup. The time lets the moisturizer really sink into your skin and
better do its job.
+++
Vaseline strikes again! It can be used for strengthening nails. It can
be used to calm the savage brow hairs. It can be used for- no, wait,
this is a family magazine. It CAN be used to prevent irritation caused
by your pierced earrings. Put a light dab on the posts; the Vaseline
will buffer your lobes from the metal and keep you irritation-free.
+++
Do you get the dreaded under-eye bags? Dark circles under eyes can be
caused by a lack of oxygen to your skin. Some of the causes of this can
be stress, dehydration, and lack of sleep. Combine one teaspoon of
whole, plain yogurt with half a teaspoon of fast-acting baker's yeast.
Apply the mixture under your eyes with a clean eyeshadow brush right
before bed, and make sure to rinse it off in the morning.
+++
I confess, girls, my secret to you. I dye my hair! In fact, I’ll be
doing it again over New Year’s. I hate it when I do my hair and manage
to do some of my skin as well. To make sure no dye gets on your skin
after you color your hair, rub a little shampoo along the hairline and
anywhere else the dye has touched your skin right before rinsing it out.
This will lessen any staining without affecting the color of the dye.

And on that note, dear ladies, my first column of 2010 comes to a close.
I’m still out in the beauty and fashion wilds, beating the brushes and
looking in the containers to find you more nifty and great tips and
tricks. I know, I always say this, but once again, I welcome any ideas,
suggestions, or comments you may have. Please e-mail them to me at
[email protected] . Also, as Rachel’s site seems to be going up
and down frequently, I want to let you all know that I have, I think,
all of the issues of PTG magazine that were on her site, and will
happily share.
Happy New Year! I hope you have a wonderfully feminine 2010!

Barbara’s Recent Exploits
By Barbara Marie Davidson
THE FURTHER ESCAPEDS OF Barbara
BY
BARBARA MARIE
Well “ladies”, November 18th was the second test of my
acceptance or rejection at the Lions Club. There were 14
members and 3 guests present. The member that left on
Nov 3rd was not there for this meeting. Several of the
members actually spoke to me this time and were very
cordial in the remarks although they were honest when
they said they did not understand. The evening
progressed well and before the meeting was over, 2 of
the guest had submitted applications for membership in
the Lions Club. The Christmas party will be December
1st and the spouses will be invited to this one, thus it
will be more test of my acceptance by the members and
their spouses. When I cleared the Lions club, I became
24/7 here in my hometown of Statesboro. On November
19th, I took 125 lbs of pecans to Metter and had them
shelled. Between Wednesday afternoon about 5:30 pm
and midnight, I picked out 200 cups of the whole nuts,
which equaled about 50 lbs of pecans as I put 4 cups in
a bag and vacuum-packed them. Each package weighed
about a pound each.
Wednesday morning, my son and I left for Albany, GA as I spent Thanksgiving with my daughter and my
grand kids, I was dressed androgynously as I must be papa in order to see my grandkids. Had a great time
and an excellent meal. We returned to the Boro on Saturday afternoon. Sunday, I spent the day as
Barbara. Monday in Savannah I spent the day in my “Bubba Skirt” (kilt) as bill as it was St Andrews
day and I am a member (for 44 years) of the St Andrews Society of Savannah. Thus, I attended a
luncheon and later in the evening, a banquet. Between the 2, I spent over 2 hours at the Health
Department to get one shot in order to bring my international shot record up to date for traveling out side
the US of A. Tuesday, December 1st found me back in my Barbara mode. The Lions Club Christmas party
(dinner) that evening, with spouses invited was the third test of my acceptance by the Lions club. There
were 18 members and 14 spouses present. Every thing went well as there was no talking behind my back
or nasty glances. Most of the wives were very accepting of me. I was wearing black slacks, a white top,
and a Christmas sweater-vest and black boots. Basically I was dressed like most of the women there were.
Wednesday, I was back en femme, again, for the day.

Barbara’s Recent Exploits (continued)
By Barbara Marie Davidson
Thursday morning found me packing the car and heading back to Atlanta for the Sig Eps Christmas Party
on Saturday night. My brother got back from his cruise and stay in NYC Thursday afternoon after 3
weeks in the Western Caribbean aboard the QM2. Upon arrival in Atlanta, I went straight to the
Canton House for a delicious meal of assorted dim sum. From there, I went to the Buford Farmers market
to get some fruit for breakfast while I am here in Atlanta. I got to my brothers about 2:45 pm. Later in
the evening, we went out for supper at a local Italian restaurant not far from his house. Friday morning
at 10:00, I was at the Topaz Salon on Cheshirebridge RD having my hair done. By 10:45, I was at Publix
getting the necessary items I needed for the Veg Tray I was making for the Sig Eps Christmas Party
Saturday Night. After a quick trip back to Brucci’s to drop the items in the Refer, I met heather and
Phoebe at the hotel for lunch at a Tex Mex restaurant on Savoy drive. After lunch we made a trip to
Wally World (Heather’s second visit), near Perimeter Mall, then to Perimeter Mall for an afternoon of
window-shopping. About 4 Pm, we arrived back at the hotel to begin the weekend… It was decided by
those present to go the 57th Fighter Squadron restaurant for supper. We arrived at the restaurant (14 of
us including 3 wives) at 20:00 had a very delightful meal and left about 22:30. At 10:00 on Saturday
Morning found a group working in the Atlanta room at the hotel setting up decorations for the Christmas
Party. After a Support Meeting, The group split and some went to Chick Fila for lunch and 4 of us
(Phoebe, Heather, Barbra and myself went to old Chamblee Bistro for lunch. We then stopped at the SWI
Imports for some quick shopping for some costume jewelry before returning to the Hotel.
At 1700 (5 pm for those who do not know military time) we were able to get back into the Atlanta room
and set up for the Christmas Party. By 5:45, every thing was set up; tables and chairs, the food and the
music tables were all in place. Shortly after 6 pm, the guest began to arrive for the social hour. Shortly
after 7 pm, Phoebe declared the party open for dinner, which was finger foods and heavy horsdouvers. All
total there were about 40 members, guest and or wives present for the occasion. About 8:45, our vice
present, Becca, started the gift giving (better known as “dirty Santa”)! At the end of the gift giving, there
was an extra gift left as one member brought a gift but did not take a number to receive a gift. (Yours
Truly). After some deliberation it was decided that there would be a number drawn and the person who
got the closest to the number with out going over the number would receive the gift. A “great time was had
by all.” Sunday morning, I was at the “bubba” breakfast (this is where the members come to breakfast in
their guy mode rather than en femme), but dressed as Barbara as I do not bring any guy clothes with me (I
am 24/7). After breakfast, I went to the L.A. City Nail Supply shop and spent about $300.00 on supplies
for the nail shop in Statesboro. By 11:00 I was on the road back to the “Boro” as I was going to a cocktail
party at 6 PM (as Barbara). I arrived at the party wearing a black sleeveless dress, with black hose and
heels, silver jewelry and a silver clutch purse. Most of the women there had on slacks with Christmas style
tops. There were a few in skirts with Christmas tops. I was dressed for a cocktail party. (Guess I still
have a few things to learn as well about dressing as a woman!!)

Barbara’s Recent Exploits (continued)
By Barbara Marie Davidson
For the next several days I was at the nail salon. However, on Thursday, I went to Savannah that
evening for a Christmas party with the Scottish American Military Society, of which I am a member. The
men were all “decked out” in their kilts. I on the other hand wore a black dress with black hose and heels,
silver jewelry and The Davidson Sash across my shoulder held in place with a silver snowflake Broach. (I
looked like most of the women there.) The men all knew about Barbara and had no problems. The wives on
the other hand knew Bill but nothing about Barbara. I was well received and treated just like one of the
wives. No Stares, sly remarks, dirty looks, just numerous compliments about my looks and my make up.
There was one new couple there that did not know me at all and treated me like I was a real lady as we
sat across from each other. Before the evening was over, I told them the truth about my self and the
evening was no different than it had been the first part of the evening. It was still mam, she and Barbara.
When we left the restaurant, she had my email address and telephone Number. Today, (Friday), she
invited me to become her friend on face book. I also did some cooking today making shrimp paste, liver
pate and a pan of baklava as I am going (en Femme) to a Birthday/Christmas Party Saturday evening.
Barbara was invited but had to leave Bill at home!!
Saturday night found me wearing black slacks and boots with a white top and a different Christmas
sweater vest when I arrived at the party about 7 pm. Of the about 45 people there, only about 7 or 8 knew
I was really a guy. The rest thought I was female and I did not say any thing different. The girl that was
throwing the party lives an alternative lifestyle, thus there were a mixture of GLBT and straight couples
there. Every one had a great time. There was a lot of food including the liver pate, shrimp paste and
baklava that I took. The party was still going strong when I left about 1045, as I had to be up at 6 am
Sunday morning for church at 8 am. I wore a new black 2 piece black skirt suit and heels with silver
jewelry to church. Several of the ladies came up to me after the service during the coffee hour and told me
how nice I looked today. Made this girl feel good to get those kinds of compliments especially from other
women.
Here it is the middle of December and this oration has basically covered almost a month of my exploits.
Given that plus the fact that our illustrious editor in chief has a dead line due to the holidays and the
short time frame for the next meeting of Sigma Epsilon in January, this is a great place to stop. Thus I
wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2010. May Santa be good to you and
yours.

Am I destined to be alone forever?
(by Jenna Taylor )
~~~~~~
Every now and then I ponder the meaning of my existence. Now, this
sounds all philosophical and heady, yet it’s simple nothing more than,
"Will I spend the rest of my live alone?"
I tell myself "I don't want to live by myself!" and until last night, I
was looking at it the wrong way. For you see, what I was saying to
myself was, “I don't want to live with YOU", meaning ME! And if this was
actually true, then, did I need fixing'? I mean, can I be ready for
someone else if I'm not ready for me?
The last 8-10 months of my sentence on this planet have involved some
pretty in-depth examinations of my past, my present, and my future.
Though these "probes" to the center of my soul have been ongoing for
several years, before now they were very superficial. Never before had I
"taken a hard look in the mirror". Like most crossdressers, it’s a quick
passing glance on my way somewhere or just a reflection in another
object. This is all about to change.
For longer than I care to remember, I've been a crossdresser, a
transgenderist and a bigendered individual. This fact has caused me
considerable pain in my life. My earliest memories include the fear of
discovery. It is that fear that ruled my life until a short 2 years ago.
Although the effects of fear on my psyche cannot be dismissed overnight,
Pretty TGirls Magazine – December 2009
Am I destined to be alone forever?
(by Jenna Taylor )
~~~~~~
the mere fact that the fear is gone is akin to the breathing of fresh
air right after a sauna. Cool, deep fulfilling breaths providing
reassurance are contrasted to the short, hurried, shallow pants one
finds in a fog of steam, while never knowing if the next is your last.
My life is starting to develop meaning. I have rediscovered personal
traits that were quite dusty! Yet why did I still question my
relationship status? Was it because I seemed to pick the "winners"? The
one that if I walked into a room of 1,000 women, I'd walk out with a
"Charlie Brown Christmas Tree", the sickliest one of the bunch! This
could not be coincidence. It has to be more than mere happenstance. It's
ME! I've set standards and conditions in my partners that compliment my
failings.
Like the drug addict or alcoholic finding the 12 steps of recovery, I've
recently found my "12 steps" to spirituality! That balance I've been
seeking. This is not to say I've arrived at my spiritual zenith. I've
just started taking the first steps of that 1,000 mile journey. A lot of
personal inventory taking and making amend with those I've wronged. I
can humbly accept myself as the loving person I am. I can display
compassion with reckless abandon. I can wake up in the morning and know
I'm one day closer to my center.
In retrospect, I'm not so much concerned with being alone. I rather like
myself and am content to take my time, and find the RIGHT woman for me.
She'll be the woman professing that I'm the right MAN for her! And do
you know something? I just might be.....

Tell Her The Truth about Crossdressing
(by Brianna Austin )
~~~~~~
There are many crossdressers that are sure that by hiding their dressing desires that they aare
re "protecting"
their wives and or girlfriends. But are they protecting the women
women they supposedly love, or themselves?
Many CDs are simply too embarrassed to acknowledge the truth about
about their crossdressing desires with the
re they supposed to explain it to someone
female they love. They hardly understand it themselves, so how aare
else? But being trans is not something you do (unless you're a fetishist,
fetishist, which may be driven by things
such,
h, by locking it away in the closet you're
other than gender identity); it is something you are, and as suc
wife (or girlfriend) only knows you as a fragmented person, not the complete person you are.
Many crossdressers learn to become liars and manipulators of the truth to avoid th
thee humiliation of having
their secret discovered.
Truth can be hard. Especially when it requires telling someone you
you are in love with something you're
embarrassed about. Fear is ever present; the fear she will look down on you, the fear that she will no
longer want to -- or be able to -- love you, the fear that she will leave you. At the same time, ttoo make her
an unwilling participant in a secret life she is unaware of, which
which at some point in time will reveal itself
anyway, is cruel and unfair. After all, you are allowing her to build a life based on a misconception about
who you are as an individual, and who you are together as a couple.
couple. The concept that you're "protecting"
her is just another lie that you convince yourself of. In truth you're protecting yourself at her expense.
Ultimately from every account I have ever heard wives and girlfriends
girlfriends in long term relationships
ultimately find out anyway, probably because most TGs subconsciously want them to know. So do it in
the beginning so that "if" you are going to have a relationship it begins with honesty and grows in truth.
Pretty TGirls Magazine – December 2009
Tell Her The Truth about Crossdressing
continued
(by Brianna Austin )
~~~~~~
Otherwise when she does find out it shatters everything she thought
thought you were, and everything you had
together. She will likely feel bewildered and betrayed. You will have tricked her into a false understanding
of who you are, and how could she ever really trust you again?
Truth does not always result in happy endings however. I know this
this from personal experience. Yet even
through unhappy endings I am still a fan of truth at all costs, because the little white lies we tell to hide
our secret lives can evolve into habits of deception that permeate
permeate other areas of our lives, sometimes
without us even realizing it.
I wrote a song many years ago and the lyrics seem relevant here:
Everyone of us has known sadness
Everyone of us has known what it is to cry
Always chasing love, never knowing quite why
Know why you seek love from the beginning. Ask yourself why you are looking for a relationship with this
woman. Is it love, lust or validation?
It has been said that doing the right thing is hard. But its not.
not. Knowing the right thing is what's hard.
But once you know what the right thing is, you'll find yourself compelled to do it. We did not choose to be
trans, but we can choose how to deal with it in our lives. We can
can choose to tell those that we want to
share our lives the truth, with love and honesty.
She then has a right to feel however she feels about it, and we cannot and should not try to control that.
She may be shocked, horrified, amused or a host of other things. But in the end, if with the truth you are

wonderful job with the magazine and I look forward to reading the July
