A message from Roy Dupuis
Honorary President, Spokesperson and Co-founder
Water is life. Rivers are the veins of our country, our planet… It is our collective duty to protect them from
the human hand, often too adventurous. Fondation Rivières is proud to support citizen groups working
passionately to preserve rivers from pollution, negligence and interventions that could divert them from
their natural course.
As an unconditional river enthusiast, as a lover of their wild beauty, I have given my commitment to do my
best to raise awareness in order to protect the rivers of Quebec.
I am asking for your support to continue our collective endeavor and inviting you to contribute to the
protection of the environment by supporting the Fondation.

Armand Vaillancourt
Born in Black Lake in the Eastern Townships in 1929, Armand Vaillancourt attended the École des BeauxArts de Montréal from 1951 to 1954. A man of heart and conviction, this committed artist has been
honored many times. A sculptor first and foremost, Armand Vaillancourt is an accomplished artist : he
expresses himself just as well through sculpture, performance, painting and printmaking. His work is
brilliant and he is considered, rightly, as the father of modern sculpture in Canada.

Born in the small French town of Agen and currently living on the south shore of Montreal, véroniKaH is an
exceptional and passionate painter. She creates using mixed media, which is defined by a combination of
several materials and techniques. Her work is impulsive and highly intuitive : the artist varies formats,
themes, colors and textures according to her impressions and emotions of the moment.
"Art is for all languages, ages and disregards prejudices, it gives full power to our perceptions and
creativity. "
véroniKaH has participated in numerous group exhibits in North America (Los Angeles, New York, Toronto,
Montreal), Europe (London, Romania, Edinburgh, Belgium and Italy) and Asia (South Korea).

Chloé Surprenant
Born in Montreal in 1973, Chloé Surprenant lives and works in Montreal and Amsterdam.
After years on the road, she can tell of the farmer Wroclaw, the shepherd from Constancia, Rick the
captain or the lady of Prague because she understands that the discovery of the world is in the unique and
singular encounter with the Other. And these meetings are the inspiration and the frame for her work,
they are what she talks about through her art and it is these moments that she perpetuates from portrait
to portrait in an ode to human beauty and naked truth.
She has shown in Montreal, Prague, Amsterdam and Lyon.

L’eau courante voyage en nous
L’eau courante voyage en nous (2011)
Oil and alkyd on canvas
51 X 61 cm
Artist donation
Value: 250 $
Mathieu Parent
During his exhibition, Eleven doors, which took place during the summer of 2012, Mathieu Parent showed
the Bas-du-fleuve public eleven pieces of art. Eleven paintings, like doors, which have been created
between 2009 and 2012, in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec and Le Bic.
Using spray paints and stencil, he creates balanced compositions generated with anarchy in luminous
configurations where reverse exists by vacuum and brings structure.
If, for Mathieu, photography possesses a light finding presence, painting comes from the absence of light
coming from the shadow. It does not take long for doors to open…
