Holy Rosary Sodality
For the last 100 years there have been numerous women
whose presence and parish support were part of this vital
society at St. Joseph’s. The members of this society
would pray the rosary daily and help with supporting the
Sweinconka (Easter) Dinner, the Oplatek (Christmas)
Dinner, and any other affair that would need their help
baking, cooking, etc. The proceeds of these events were
used by the pastor for the needs of the parish. Another
special event was the “Crowning of Mary” in May. If you
have any questions, or would like more information,
please contact Dee LeBlanc
Ladies of St. Anne
This organization was founded over 100 years ago by the
women of Holy Rosary as a social organization whose
fundraising proceeds were used to help seminarians,
school or special parish projects. If you have any
questions, or would like more information, please contact
Dianne Hunt.

Stewardship Note
“If it does not please you to serve the Lord, decide today
whom yu will serve...As for me and my household, we will
serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15) When we commit to
serve the Lord, we must be willing to become a partner in
the work of the Lord. A partner is a person who invests
their time, talent and treasure. If we say we serve God,
we must actually do something and not merely talk about
it!
Year of the Consecrated Life
By your prayer and intercession, you are the advocates of
all who seek God, who are journeying towards God. You
bear witness to a hope which, against every form of
hopelessness, silent or spoken, points to the fidelity and
the loving concern of God. Hence you are on the side of
those who are crushed by misfortune and cannot break
free of their burdens. You bear witness to that Love
which gives itself for humanity and thus conquered death.
Drivers needed to transport parishioners to and from Holy
Spirit to attend daily Mass at 7:30am,
Tuesday - Friday. The drivers would be scheduled to
pick up parishioners at either Sacred Heart, St. Joseph’s,
or Holy Rosary at 7:15am. If you are
interested in helping for one day or more, please contact

Word of Life
Keeping the spirit of the Gospel means that Catholic
institutions are to bear witness in love to the full truth about
the human person by providing social, charitable, and
educational services in a manner that fully reflects the Godgiven dignity of the human person.”
Archbishop William E. Lari, Chairman, Ad Hoc Committee
for Religious Liberty, on the “Freedom to Bear Witness”
(www.bit.ly/Freedom 2 Witness)
GENTE UNIDA
Dear Parishioner, as you know, I am connected to a
foundation in Colombia to help children in need in my home
country, Colombia. You have received an envelope to support
this project. Thank you so much for your generosity! Let me
explain briefly about our Mission.
“Gente Unida” or “United People” is a foundation providing
education for 4370 marginalized children in Colombia. 170 of
these children live in an orphanage that provides everything for
their spiritual, personal, and physical wellbeing.
Our foundation believes that education is key to breaking the
cycle of multi-generational poverty. Also, we respond to a
child’s living and problematic relationships with support and
guidance based in our faith. Those people receive no
government assistance at all. Moreover, many of them are
women-single-parents which lead to higher rates of poverty in
these families. In fact, the best way to break the cycle of
poverty is responding to a child’s need as early as possible.

HELP US SHARE THE GOOD NEWS
Do you have a loved one or neighbor whose children are old enough to attend religious education classes (a.k.a. CCD)
but may need some encouragement to do so? Please consider picking up some of the religious education information
from the back of church to share with them. We have a flyer that answers frequently asked questions as well as one that
proposes a few good reasons why someone might want to send their child to religious education classes. Your outreach
could help someone reconnect with the church.
BRIDGES TO FAITH
Do you have an older child in your family who needs to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation or Eucharist?
Did you know we offer special classes for children who did not receive their sacraments at the same time as their peers?
We believe it is never too late to respond to God’s invitation to receive his grace through the sacraments. Our Bridges to
Faith program helps children and teens build a relationship with Jesus that connects their daily life and our faith tradition.
If you would like to learn more about this program please contact Mrs. Sweeney.

5 MORE GOOD REASONS TO CONSIDER
BECOMING A CATECHIST (A.K.A. CCD TEACHER)
Is God calling you to share your faith with our young
people? Below are some reasons given by catechists
for why they have answered the call to become a
catechist. If you would like to learn more about this
wonderful ministry please contact Mrs. Sweeney.
1. Help Nourish the Faith of Children…
“The most important reason to get involved is so
that we can help nourish the faith in children. If we
don’t get involved, who will teach them and
prepare them to be active members in the parish
as they grow?”
2. Meet Wonderful People…
“I have met many wonderful people. If all I did was
come to Mass, all I would know would be faces in
the crowd.” “If you don’t have children in the
program, it is a great way to meet other spiritual
people and become more involved in the activities
and community of the parish.”
3. It is a Rewarding Experience…
“The best thing about teaching in the
program...there are too many to count!.....getting to
know each child and the special gifts they have;
how much they teach me!”
4. Be Involved…
“Teaching in the Religious Education Program
helps me be more involved in not only my
children’s education, but also in the church in
general.”
5. Be Surprised…
“I was skeptical about what 5 & 6 yr. olds could
take from RE. I was surprised at how much they
want to learn about God!”
CATECHIST MEETING
We will be holding a Catechist Meeting on Monday,
August 24th at 7 p.m. in the church hall at Holy Spirit
Campus. This will be a general meeting for all of our
religious education volunteer teachers. Our agenda
will be to meet each other and go over the pick picture
of what Religious Education will be doing this year.
We will have samples of the books being used for
grades 1-8 available for teachers to look at. We will
hold an additional meeting for each of the grade levels
(1-6, 7&8 and high school) in mid September. At that
time we will be able to provide teachers with class lists
and a finalized calendar.
