I wish to convey my congratulations to
Mr. Khairul Nazri Mohamad Taib, Head of
Chancery for this initiative to come out
with the newsletter of the Embassy of
Malaysia, Dili, Timor-Leste.
In the subsequent newsletter, perhaps it
could also convey not only events but
also information pertinent to Malaysia
in the diaspora.

Embassy’s Aidilfitri Celebration
On 17 July 2015, H.E. Amb. Tajul Mohammad, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Timor-Leste hosted the
tradition Open House to celebrate the end of the fasting month of Ramadhan and to welcome the Hari
Raya Aidilfitri. The event was attended by his colleagues from the diplomatic community, Malaysians
residing in Timor Leste and local friends.
Guests were served with the various Malaysian cuisines and traditional delicacies. The favourite homemade menu offered were beef and chicken rendang, ketupat, serunding, laksa Penang, laksa Johor, Nasi Tomato as well as traditional Malay desserts (buah melaka, roti jala, kueh bakar, agar-agar merah and
popiah goreng) prepared by PERWAKILAN DILI. More than 50 guests joined in the Open House Aidilfitri’s festivity.

Malaysia Day Celebration
The Embassy of Malaysia in Dili hosted the eve
of Malaysia Day on 15th September 2015. The
event was attended by Malaysians and local
friends as well as delegation from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) who were on official visit to
Dili. Altogether, the evening was graced by approximately more than 100 guests.
Typical Malaysian fares were served such as nasi
lemak bungkus, mee goreng, bihun goreng, satay
and Malaysian traditional desserts. Beside these
delicacies, guests were also served with barbeque
chicken, beef and lambs. In his short remarks,
H.E Ambassador Tajul conveyed his appreciations for Malaysians gathered at the function reflecting the multiracial and multi-cultural society.
The Embassy would always be the focal point of
Malaysians in Timor-Leste.
During the function, the Negara Ku was played
sang along with all guests. Malaysian diaspora
were very appreciative of the invitations as they
were able to sample authentic Malaysian fares and
of course met others during the function.

Cooking Demonstration - International
Diplomatic Spouses Association Luncheon
On 30th September 2015 the Chairman of the Malaysian Ladies Association (PERWAKILAN Dili) in
Dili, Madam Norfiza Y. Tajul hosted the monthly luncheon of the International Diplomatic Spouses Association at Rumah Malaysia. Prior to the luncheon, members of PERWAKILAN Dili organized a cooking demonstration on how to prepare Roti Jala (The Malaysian Lace Pancake). The guests took turn to
prepare their own pancakes and to taste other delicacies Malaysian desserts such as Steamed Glutinous
Flour Cake with Coconut Filling (Puteri Dua Sebilik), Rice Flour and Pandan Pudding with Coconut Milk
Curd (Tepung Pelita), Brown Sugar Steamed Cake (Kaswi), Glutinous Rice Steamed Cake with Palm Sugar
Custard (Seri Kaya). The Luncheon began at 11:00 am and ended at 2.00 pm. They really enjoyed the food
and expressed their gratitude for the demonstration and food testing.

A Meaningful CSR Programme -“School Repainting
Project”
On 3rd October 2015, the Embassy of Malaysia and Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni of Timor-Leste co-organized school repainting of
Escola Basica Filial located at Meti-Aut Cristo Rei, Dili. The group of Malawakil and
Alumni bought paint and to completely repaint one block of school building as
part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The programme started at 9.00 am and finished at 4.00 pm and went smoothly. The Alumni participants were very satisfied to perform this activity as a small contribution to the local society. The Embassy hopes the small CSR programme would bring cheers and
smiles to the students of the school.

500 Steps to Cristo Rei Peak
Dili, 10 October 2015 - In conjunction with Malaysia National Sports Day 2015, the Embassy of
Malaysia in Dili held the Cristo Rei Walks. This
physical activity was initiated by H.E Amb. Tajul
which aimed to turn Malaysians into a healthier
and sporting community.
Besides officials from the Embassy, members of
their families also joined the sporting activities. The
short climb posed quite a challenge for a few senior
members of the participants. The climb which took
about one hour and thirty minutes and participants
were rewarded with scenic views of the Timor Sea
and Dili Harbour.
