5th Annual Shiver Ball Gala
The 5th Annual Shiver Ball Gala held on February 28th at the Delta Hotel was the most
successful dinner in the Foundation’s history. This year’s theme was “Through the Glittering
Forest” which was reflected in the décor, the meal and the prizes. Children’s Wish welcomed
its highest number of attendees ever as over 340 guests were treated to a memorable
evening featuring the Danny Kramer band and event emcees Joe Aiello of 102 Clear FM and
Winnipeg Blue Bomber Alumni Chris Cvetkovic. In total the event raised over $135,000
for the Foundation.

Guests were greeted upon arrival with a glass of sparkling wine as they explored the room.
At the conclusion of the dinner there was a very spirited live auction that featured a trip for
two to the Emmys, a trip for two to Napa Valley and a fishing trip to Aikens Lake Lodge. Also
after dinner guests were treated to gourmet coffee from DeLuca’s, a scotch bar, a photo
booth and an exciting key prize draw for a trip for two to Florida.

Amidst all of the glitz and glam the real star of the show was Elsie Tellier, the event Wish
Child for the night. Elsie spoke to the crowd about her illness and what having her wish to
visit Disney World meant to her. As Elsie said, “Getting a wish is more than just meeting
a celebrity or going on a trip; it’s a special opportunity to make memories that will last a
lifetime, however long that life is.” That same night Elsie celebrated her seventeenth birthday
and was surprised with a Disney princess themed cake.
