It is with mixed emo ons that we say good-bye to our Chairperson, Erin Zorzi (pictured below with the
latest recipient of the Carolyn Frances Mack Nursing Fund Grant—Chris ne Bailey). Here are some
par ng words from Erin:
“As I look back, I see just how much the board has accomplished on behalf of our community to
ensure our hospital and local healthcare is first class. Each year, we have reached our
fundraising goal because of generous and caring donors. These donors take all shapes and
sizes, from children selling lemonade to individual gi"s to sizeable bequests and community
organiza$ons and businesses. The Founda$on is strong and stable. It is financially prepared for
the expansion of the ER and Lab, and is already looking at the future of
fundraising. A hospital opens its doors to all, no ma)er the concern, the
socio-economic status, the residency, you will be cared for. Our hospital
is a vital cornerstone of our very special community. Thank you to all
our donors for caring so much. Thank you for the privilege of
volunteering with this excep$onally important Founda$on.” Erin Zorzi
Community Partners
SMHF thanks our annual corporate, business and organizational donors whose direct support for the period of April 2014
to March 2015 helps to care for the patients of Saugeen Shores! We are grateful for the support of fundraising events
held in the same period and the many, many folks who volunteer to make each event a success and who care about
keeping health care close to home!

A. While the government provides
funding to operate hospitals, relatively
little funding is available for any new or
updated medical equipment.
Donations play a crucial role in keeping
the hospital well-equipped to meet the
needs of patients.
Q. When the Hospital Campaign is
done will you be done fundraising?

Ask the Chair:
A. We sure wish that, however there
are other needs. Our Annual Needs
(replacement of outdated equipment),
our Nursing Education Program and
our Pastoral Care Program all require
ongoing funds. Think of it this way—
you’ve probably replaced your cell
phone and your car every few years.
Imagine how much more imperative it
is that medical equipment be kept up to
date. And it’s really expensive!
