working very hard and are ready to do their best.
Central’s athletic programs offer our students an exciting opportunity to become involved in our
school community. Students gain experience in many areas that will aid them later in life. These
include working together as a team, self-discipline, self-sacrifice and time management.
We are fortunate to have dedicated student athletes, excellent coaches and outstanding athletic facilities. We are grateful for the support and good sportsmanship of our parents and fans.

Welcome to the 2008-09 winter season of athletics. We encourage you to attend home and away
contests in each sport and support our student athletes in a positive way. Our coaches and athletes
are ambassadors of the school and community at all times. Please help us by doing the same in a
positive way. The value of athletic competitions is multi-faceted and includes many issues beyond
the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
Athletic participation does not stop at the end of a practice or contest. Ahtletics is an experience
that will be used for a lifetime.

Basketball. This year’s NIC race is
wide open as there are several
strong teams. In order for the
Blazers to compete, we will need
to rely on our experience, team
chemistry, and defense. As the old
saying goes, “Offense wins
games, defense wins championships.” We are looking this year
for the defense to be the heart of our team. We must also be
willing to share the basketball to make it difficult for our opponents to stop us. This year’s group is seasoned and we must
rely on this experience to close out games and be mentally
tough. We hope your visit to Northside Gym, one of the greatest venues for high school sports, is filled with exciting times.
