We had many people who were not acquainted with DCDC attend. It is our hopes we can begin to build up our membership as they had a good time. The evening Murder Masquerade party went well. We had nine characters and the audience was to guess the killer. Prizes were drawn for the correct entries. We had guest DJ’s Barbara Brooks, Deb Creegan, Jerry Nusz, Mary Houska was to go last but we ran out of time:( . Music sounded good, treats were great. Thank you to all who attended. Dakota Country Dance Club Board Meeting September 17, 2015 @ 7:30 Pm Held at Jerry Nusz Home Meeting opened at 7:50 PM DCDC Minutes Members present – Heather Almendendinger, Mary Houska, Jerry Nusz, Ricky Mayko, Pat Duerr, Duane Duerr, Sheila Mary opened the meeting with some DCDC trivia. Why do we do trivia? To gain knowledge of the Dance Club. Trivia about Fiscal year, when dues are due and why do we hold Spring Roundup. Secretary Report – Read by secretary and approved as read. Treasurers Report – Duane present the report to board. Approved as read. Sunshine Committee Report- Condolences card for Deb Creegan and get well card for Jay Davies. Activity Committee- Discussed possible Road Trip to Watertown Casino to dance to the band Dirt Road Prophets. Will put out sign-up sheets to see if the club members show any interest in this road trip. October 9th. Discussed having Halloween costume party after dance class at Bucks on Halloween. Web Report- No report from Kurt W. Discussed getting access to the web site for a couple of the board members. Duane will make call to get this done. Old Business-- Pictures of the New Board on hold. Fall Fest- Much discussion on budget. Mary presented some changes to the Fall Fest budget. Talk of purchasing a cordless microphone and a projector. Both of the items will be discussed at another date and if purchased would be a hard cost to the Club not part of the Fall Fest Budget. Jerry N will be donating his time to teach the class at Fall Fest. Tuesday Night Line Dance Survey –Will bring to next board meeting to discuss results. New Business— Pay Online- At this time the board will not be looking further into this. Spring Round Up – Will be looking into different venues for a dance. Articles for the Newsletter - Flyer for the Halloween party at Bucks’. Good of the Club – Nothing discussed. Next Meeting October 12th at Jerry N home. Next Meeting at the home of Jerry Nusz, 47604 257th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 Date: Monday Oct 19th, at 7:30PM Thursday Night Line Dance Lessons Line Dance Lessons are held on Thursdays at Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse in Sioux Falls. 7:00PM-8:30PM Lesson with some country music dance time to follow. $4.00 for Members/$6.00 Non-Members. There will be food and drink specials and a ton of fun! Dakota Country Dance Club members get together on a weekly basis. Below are a few opportunities. Membership gains you access to Dakota Country Happenings email. Dakota Country Happenings is a an outrageously comprehensive weekly email listing most of the country happenings in the valley and surrounding areas and it’s for our members only!!! (rumor has it media is trying to get their hands on it!) watch for it in your email. Borrowed Bucks Roadhouse is one of the places our members enjoy, beginners, and experts alike! Saturdays Borrowed Bucks provides professional country Western line and partner dance lessons by Jerry and Kathy Nusz free of charge. Line dance lessons are at 4:00-5:30 PM with partner dance lessons from 5:30-7:00 PM. A partner is recommended but not required so please come! Dancers with out partners please remember that when the instructor invites students to begin the lesson, if you want to dance and have no partner, let us know it by getting yourself onto the floor! . Come out on Thurdays and Fridays for Country Music and Dancing at Bucks' Thursdays after Line Dance (8:30) and Fridays at Bucks is the best in Country Dancing Fun. Dance begins around 7:00 PM on Fridays with a DJ! We need a good turn out every week to keep the country music playing. Bring your friends and be sure to say hello to our dance neighbors so everyone feels welcome. In Buck's words, "Dust off your boots, get out your hat and come on down to Bucks and do it Country Style!” The Ballroom Dance Club of Sioux Falls. Attend the only Big Band Ballroom Dance in the area. The second Friday of each month a big band orchestra entertains the crowd with music from past eras; the 40's,50's and 60's. All ages and abilities are welcome. Dance lesson at 6:00 PM, band plays 7:00-10:30 PM. $14.00 per person and $7.00 for students with ID. Dress Code.
