Here we go...year 26 it already
looks way better than last
year...so lets have at it. Increase in
info bombs going out. (a guide on
how to get involved) with a rulebook and a newsletter and most of
the companies (guys) who make
this stuff, if you want to be on the
info bomb get ahold of me I’ll get
you there. The Super Pull is about
2 months away and we are already
coming up with a brand new event
for the pullers...a “Challenge Pull”
right now it will be all of the 10#
4wd’s (both scratch and shaft) will
be gunning for aa 50$ prize from
the joeshow...both classes will
have 1 run at the distance and let’s
see who will win….Back in the
day they were both one class however the scratchbuilt trucks had
the shafts by about a foot pretty
much all the time however that
has changed in the past 6
years .the series would have been
tied with 3 longest distance pulled
titles would have gone to each
class (between the 2) . OK they
are tied...they pull the same it
depends on the day, the track , etc
I NSIDE THIS ISSUE :
So lets settle it for this year anyways… This should be fun and
the winner will get 50 bucks so it
is worth going for...If we like it
look for more challenges between classes that pull the same
weight.. (and have similar results). FACEBOOK: when we
left the WORLDS we were at
395 likes today it is 801 past double in 2 months! We will continue to use this in new and different ways to inform ...OK brag
about what we do.. This has been
the most successful form of advertising we have done since the
1st RCCA ad back in 1989. The
ads after that have seem to lose
effectiveness.. for whatever reason...so this has become the way
to go...and it does not cost the
assn a dime so this is a winner.
The Monster Truck class has a
new rule in it for the Sport truck
class everyone will be required to
run that 15 turn Thunderbolt
motor by the 2014 WORLDS
which is the cheapest handout
type motor we can come up
with.(20 bucks cost) ..we wanted
a hand out type motor to flatted
the field into one motor (nobody
has a motor advantage) it is felt
that this motor because it comes
as a stock motor in kits will be in
production the longest. This
class was supposed to be a driver’s class and not a best machine
class. We hope this will do that.
Those motors left over…..hang
on to those the digger people
may want to buy them from you
we are looking at
changing the motor from
(ROAR 27T) to something else one of the options may be any short can
brushed motor will know
in a day or 2 . Several other recommendations from
the board to be handled
like any other rule change
at the SPRINGS Meeting.
With 5 signatures and a
vote by the membership.
Changes in manufacturing
have caused this with discontinues items that are in
the rules...makes it hard
to continue. So we are
attempting to rectify that.
If not ...there is no point
to classes that require discontinued parts. The
board can institute changes to rectify discontinued
items that classes require
for the good of the class
( and the association) that
however, that rarely happens and we are trying to
continue to use the proposal and vote by the
membership to continue.

2013 B IG B IRD P ULL EVENT RECAP
Last weekend I attended the Big Bird Pull in Central Square, NY. It’s named this due to it’s proximity
with Thanksgiving. The event is one of a few yearly events put on by Dave Engle of the Radio Controlled
Pullers of Central New York. It’s held at his place, also known as “The Hanger” because it resembles an
airplane hanger. To find out more info about their operation, visit their Facebook page.
With 55 entries, they had a decent turnout of vehicles for this year’s Big Bird Pull. We saw some new
faces, and some old ones as well. It’s great to see new people making it out here and giving r/c tractor
pulling a try. It’s not for everyone, but it sure is an atmosphere like no other. There’s no yelling about
who hacked who on the track like you sometimes find in racing. The club is communal and will help each
other out if someone is having an issue. It’s very laid back. At each of their events, they break for lunch
after round one and you definitely get your monies worth for the event in the food alone. Everyone
brings a dish to pass and you get a really dialed meal out of the deal. Pulling costs just $5 per entry.

We had a great field of 40 trucks for our first points race of the 2014 season. While some guys
were trying out some new trucks, and new equipment. Other guys were just trying to get the rust
off! As the day went on our racers and their trucks were getting much better. Jon Zyck made the
long drive from Michigan. He had a nice points day with his trucks. Brad Pitt made the drive down
from Chicago. Brad also had a nice points day with the White Ripper Truck. We ran the "figure 8"
course which proved to be a fast and challenging course. We had some great racing action. Several races that were decided by less than tenth of a second. Brant Dooley, and Jim Gaines had a
better start to their 2014 season. Both guys put together some good runs throughout the day. Jason Renard, Rich Aper, Jon Zyck, and Josh Rhodes all showed that they were going to be tough
to beat all day. Thanks to all of our racers for supporting the series, sorry to see that Phil Grande
had some car trouble and was unable to make the race. We are also happy to announce and remind people that Brett at CPE is offerng the following awards throughout the season.- CPE "Top
Qualifier" Award: $10 CPE gift certificate for TQ at each event. Increases to a $20 gift certificate
if you are using a CPE or Ground Pounder chassis.- CPE "Racer's Edge" Award: $20 CPE gift
