In addressing the gathering,
Mayor Villaraigosa said the U.S.Asia Business Expo 2010 was a
microcosm of the strong ties his
city has with the Asian business
community locally and abroad.
“Los Angeles has so much
to gain from a stronger trade
relationship with our business
partners from Asia. I believe this
is the future,” Villaraigosa stated.
“L.A. is the epicenter of the United
States, and, maybe, the world,
for small business. We have more
small businesses here in L.A. than
any city in the country. If you look
at many of the faces of these small
businesses, many of them look
like you.”
Also speaking during the Sept.
17 inaugural session, moderated by Karen Blackwell, was
Los Angeles County Supervisor
Don Knabe, who noted how
much the ports of Los Angeles
and Long Beach rely upon Asian
commerce.
