Drs. Grotta, Lilly and Schulz to establish a dementia and

basic science advances from laboratories into improved
early diagnosis and prevention. Funds will also be used to
support the revolution of multimodal brain imaging,
central to understanding how the brain recovers from
injury and responds to new treatments.

“In the Pink of Health”a Success
THE ANNUAL “IN THE PINK OF HEALTH” BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
LUNCHEON is produced by a group of passionate and committed women who change lives by raising funds
to fight breast cancer and support women’s
health through Memorial Hermann The
Woodlands Hospital.
1
And they are making a difference.
On October 12th, Memorial Hermann The
Woodlands hosted the most successful “In
the Pink of Health” luncheon to date at The
Woodlands Waterway Marriot Hotel. More
than $680,000 was raised to support Memorial
Hermann The Woodlands Breast and Bone Center.
The record 1,260 attendees were treated to a champagne reception, shopping and silent auction.
Memorial Hermann’s breast cancer experts were
on hand manning information booths at the event.
Chicago Bridge & Iron renewed their partnership
as the event’s 2012 Presenting Sponsor.
2
3
“The community’s response to this year’s luncheon
has been overwhelming,” said luncheon co-chairs
Megan Alexander and Ruth Hiller. “In fact, the
event sold out before we could get the invitations
out the door!”
The presentation by keynote speakers Giuliana and
Bill Rancic was the highlight of the afternoon.
Together, they have a hit reality show on the Style
Network and co-authored a national bestseller,
I Do, Now What? In addition to sharing their insights
into coping with Giuliana’s breast cancer diagnosis
and the journey to survivorship, the couple also
spoke about the experience from the often unheard
perspective of the caregiver. Giuliana and Bill credit
their successes to the power of positive thinking
and maintaining a happy outlook on life.
Since 2001, more than $2 million has been raised by “In the Pink
of Health” events to provide the women of Montgomery County
with access to screening, education and information on early
detection as well as the most advanced imaging and treatment
technology available. For more information, visit
memorialhermannfoundation.org or call 713.242.4400.
