Star Media Group acquires
SUHAAG
TORONTO, September 29, 2008 – Star Media Group announced today that it has
signed an agreement to acquire SUHAAG Group Inc., a leading South Asian event,
publishing and promotions company in Canada, with a successful history of developing and expanding major wedding, fashion and lifestyle events and related
products.
“This acquisition is a perfect fit with our strategy to become the leader in the multicultural publication sector,” said Carol Peddie, Vice-President, Business Ventures,
Star Media Group. “We currently publish Sing Tao, the largest Chinese newspaper
in Canada, and we have a strong lineup of multicultural publications, including
Canadian Immigrant Magazine, which caters to immigrants from all cultural backgrounds, Desi Life, a bi-monthly magazine for South Asian communities in the
Greater Toronto Area, and Sway, a magazine geared towards Toronto’s African and
Caribbean Canadian communities.

The shows are presented in Fall and Winter of each year and are the leading events

With the help of the Consul General of India the SUHAAG team unveiled the first
ever South Asian Wedding Planner in January 2003. This past year, the planner
transformed from a small booklet into a wedding portfolio and organizer.
This guide is aimed towards assisting South Asian to-be-weds with everything they
need to plan for their special day—from choosing the right venue to selecting the
ideal honeymoon destination. Moreover, by providing users with the knowledge of
asking the right questions, and equipping them with all necessary contact numbers, this planner has now become a necessity for every couple.

SUHAAG HUM FM
Radio
The newest addition to the SUHAAG portfolio was launched in April 2008, HUM FM. The radio program’s aim is to entertain, educate and promote Canadian and South Asian culture
over the airwaves.
HUM FM broadcasts in English creating a connection to between the demographic and the
South Asian culture in the language that they are most comfortable in. Each week, the program brings its listeners exclusive interviews with local artists and event promoters as well
as international actors, directors and musicians. In addition, the program further engages
its listeners with discount specials, free giveaways and contests.
HUM FM also offers a forum for discussion of relevant topics in business, fashion, careers,
health and entertainment from both Bollywood and Hollywood. In addition, the all request
