Three of those are Olympic disciplines (Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing) with Para-Dressage being represented at the Paralympics. Horse riding is the only Olympic and Paralympic sport to have both sexes competing in the same competition and where the athlete and horse both receive medals. With a resolutely up-todate museography and many audiovisuals and interactive stations, it allows visitors to enjoyably widen their knowledge of our equine friends. The Museum of the Horse The museum includes an artistic crossing and hippologique ages with the displaying of about 200 objects showing the importance of the horse from the beginning of civilizations : paintings, rints, fabrics, sculptures, broadcasting documents, questrian equipment… The approached themes are : the evolution of the horse and the races of horses in the world, the technical progress of the equipment of the horse, the role of the horse with regard to the power, to the war and to the hunting. The sport and the questrian games and in particular the races which make the fame of Chantilly since 1834 are also represented in two spaces. And the horse in the art, with works of universal artists such as Dürer, Giambologna, Mantegna, Rubens, Chick, Oudry, Géricault, Dufy... This museum is a unique place in Europe where you will meet the art of the horse and the horse in the art. Dinner Le Berkeley This restaurant was established in the 1920’s in the 8th district and was the top meeting place for all the prominent political and cultural figures of the 1960’s. Berkeley 's interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon has given this exclusive Champs-Elysées venue a warm and luminous atmosphere using beautiful textiles, stunning objets d’art and a magnificent glass ceiling. The menu of this fun and trendy restaurant is changed regularly and the chef provides food that is simple and flavourful using seasonal produce. In Eventing, this test is only open to participants whose horse has passed the veterinary check on the morning of the Jumping Test. The length of the course is between 500 and 600 metres, and must be ridden at a speed of 375 metres per minute. The height of the obstacles is around 130 cm. Exceeding the optimum time and/or incurring any faults at the obstacles are penalised with penalty points, which are added to those accumulated in the Dressage and Cross-Country Tests. After the Dressage, Cross-Country and Jumping Tests, medals are awarded according to the Team and Individual rankings. In the Team Competition, the final rankings are determined by tallying the penalties incurred by the three best riders from each team after the three tests. The team with the lowest total wins. A professional staff offers you quality services in stallion management, broodmares boarding, and horses preparation for the sales. Established in 1907 by wealthy American sportsman William Kissam Vanderbilt, he sold the property to another American horseman, A. Kingsley Macomber, whose colt War Cloud won the 1918 Preakness Stakes. Macomber had other wins, including the 1923 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Prior to and during the German occupation of France in World War II the property was left abandoned, until it was acquired by prominent French horseman Alec Head in 1958, a descendant of the great trainers who founded the English Racing Colony in Chantilly, Oise. Alec Head undertook a massive restoration of the facilities and in 1959 brought in the farm's first stallion. Over the years he and his wife Ghislaine developed Haras du Quesnay into one of the leading stud farms in the country with horses acquired from across Europe and the United States. Haras du Quesnay was home to prominent sires and broodmares such as Sir Gaylord, 1968 Kentucky Derby winner Dancer's Image, the leading sire of broodmares in France in 1980 Le Fabuleux, Arctic Tern, Anabaa, six-time champion sire in France Highest Honor, and Numerous, a son of Mr. Prospector. 2 9 Lunch Le Grand Hotel Gallery M The restaurant offers a refined menu seafood specialties and Norman meet. Built in the 18th century by the King’s architect Robert de Cotte, “Le Pin” was the first entity under the administration if the Royal Studs. Embellished by different artists, like Edgar Degas, it constitutes one of the most famous studs in the world and remains the symbol of equestrian heritage. The bright château provides a delightful part of the visit. Starting from the equestrian trophies won by horses born on “Le Pin” estate, then walking through animal paintings and superb 17th Century tapestries, and ending by the dining room, the château offers a fantastic opportunity to dive back in the Age of Enlightment… Figuratively speaking, Le Pin National Stud employees 92 staff, five outdoor, three indoor arenas, a cross country course in the “Haut Bois” park, a racecourse, 300 boxes… In order to animate the Stud, Le Pin organizes on Thursdays, from June to September, a magnificent parade of horses (stallions, mares, foals…).
