A French story
In 1973, Emile Pequignet established the
eponymous brand in Morteau, in the heart of the
Jura watchmaking region. The brand’s vocation
then was to create and produce watches whose
originality is matched by the demand for utmost
quality. Accordingly, over time, our Pequignet
watches have forged for themselves a reputation
for timeless, original beauty combining precision
with French elegance and spirit. This initial
vocation was never to fail, a remained the
guiding principle and soul of the firm: existing
through its difference, creating and searching
out beauty, mastering and cherishing the
workmanship of the best craftsmen.

Moorea, the French elegance
The MOOREA line has maintained its incredible success
since 1984, embodying worldwide a certain expression of
the «French touch», the subtle combination of sophistication and restraint. Each birth is tended with the greatest
care to give each the best chance of a long life. A luxury
timepiece must last. It must first of all survive the whims
of fashion, luxury being a symbol of timelessness. It must
also resist the attacks of time : sapphire glass, horological
gold and steel, screw-down or screw-fastened case-back;
each component, although it is not completely resistant
to ageing, can always be renewed or replaced so that a
Pequignet timepiece may be eternal for each of us. But
beyond the craft and technology of the watch creator,
there remains an element of mystery and magic surrounding a collection, beautiful, timeless and different.
Independent watchmaker
The art of difference cannot be cultivated without
independence. Pequignet is one of the last truly independent
watchmaking firms which still have control over its creations
and production. Like any artisanal firm, it is made up of men
and women united in a shared history and whose love of
best practice is combined with the ambition to serve and
enhance an authentic luxury brand. All their talents ensure
the reputation of Pequignet day after day.

Today, Pequignet is celebrating its 40th
anniversary. The brand has known how to
evolve and adapt with the times, and is now
a recognised manufacture. The Moorea
collection has stood the test of time and
represents Pequignet’s other cornerstone,
which continues to attract the brand’s
enthusiasts. Since the early 1980s, the Emile
Pequignet brand has been associated with
the world of horse riding. This relationship
led to the Equus collection in 1987. To
celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary,
the Equus range has been revisited and
modernized, but with a nod to the past.

The inspiration behind the legendary
MOOREA Collection was Emile
Pequignet’s passion for his race horse,
Moorea, the king of the horse shows
in the 1980s. In search of a strong and
distinguished identity, Emile Pequignet
invented the famous MOOREA link
bracelet; this was a steel grain-shaped
link hinged with the bracelet, perfectly
identifiable in its design.
