Delphine T. Mulcahy Delphine Tone Mulcahy, 99, of Chester Village West, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013. Del was the widow of Leo J. Mulcahy, Commissioner of the Connecticut State Police from 1959 to 1971, who provided guidance in the founding of The Club. She is also the mother of Club member Doug Mulcahy. Born Delphine Tone in New Haven on Jan. 25, 1914, she was the eldest child of Joseph Mackler Tone and Lena Delphine Coloumbe. Mr. Tone was a former Connecticut State Senator, Labor Commissioner under Gov. Wilbur Cross, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor during the Roosevelt administration. In addition to Doug, Del is survived by a daughter, Delphine Tone Condron; as well as five grandchildren, Jeanette Garneau, Delphine Cyr, Elizabeth Mulcahy, Laura Mulcahy Mayhew, and Patrick Mulcahy. Donations may be made in Del's memory to one of two groups, The Connecticut State Troopers Memorial Scholarship Fund, Division of State Police, 1111 Country Club Road, Middletown, CT 06457 or the Lyme Land Trust, PO Box 1002, Old Lyme, CT 06371. William E. Sydenham Jr. Sondra Benson Sondra “Sonny” Benson, age 72 of Unionville, beloved wife of the late Carl Benson passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, May 16, 2013.She is survived by her much loved daughter, Kathy Schultz and her husband Fred of East Hampton. Sondra and Carl Benson joined the Hundred Club in1978. I came to know her, first through notes we sent to each other and then through telephone conversations. Each year, in addition to her dues payment, Sondra would send an additional contribution along with a note expressing her affection for the Hundred Club, her belief in what we do and, always a personal expression of “good will” to the staff here. After a few years of exchanging notes, I telephoned Sondra to personally express my appreciation for her loyalty and support of the Hundred Club over the years. I very soon came to the conclusion that “this was a special Lady”. We spoke many times over the years and my only regret is that I never met her in person. God Bless you Sondra, and shame on me for not following up on taking you to the lunch we spoke about. William E.
