PARISH OFFICE SUMMER HOURS Our Parish Office will close at 12 noon on Fridays beginning May 24 through August. Did You Know… ? that St. Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol to explain the Trinity? It is said Patrick would hold up a shamrock and challenge his hearers, "Is it one leaf or three?" "It is both one leaf and three," was their reply. "And so it is with God," he would conclude. The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity commemorates a reality and belief rather than a specific event or person. On Trinity Sunday we remember and honor three persons in one eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus introduced us to this mystery when He revealed to us that God is love. He is the Creator and merciful Father; He is the Only-Begotten Son, eternal Wisdom incarnate, who died and rose for us; He is the Holy Spirit who moves all things, cosmos and history, toward their final, full destiny. Three persons who are one God because the Father is love, the Son is love, the Spirit is love. God is wholly and only love, the purest, infinite and eternal love, an inexhaustible source of life that is ceaselessly given and communicated. The strongest proof that we are made in the image of the Trinity is this: love alone makes us happy because we live in a relationship, and we live to love and to be loved. Celebrate the Year of Faith by praying that all may come to know Christ and embrace the teachings of His Church. 4 The Most Holy Trinity May 26, 2013 W or s h ip Welcome to the Word TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The wisdom of God played on the surface of God’s earth, finding delight in the human race (Proverbs 8:2231). Donors will receive a free coupon for a pint of Culver’s frozen custard, compliments of Culver’s in Lombard. Many thanks to the ODEUM for providing us “leftovers” from a recent management conference. Their generosity allows us to provide more food to those using the pantry. A special thank you to those IC volunteers who transported the food from the Odeum back to IC. It’s only through many hands working together that we are able to take advantage of these unique opportunities when they come our way. THANK YOU! Our most needed items this week include paper products, (kleenex, paper towels, toilet paper), laundry detergent and dish soap, flour, sugar and vegetable oil, milk, eggs, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables. As summer approaches, your donations become more crucial than ever. Many students receive free lunch/ snacks at their respective schools. Once school is out, the burden for parents to feed their children nutritiously becomes more challenging. May God bless you a hundredfold for your continued generosity. THANK YOU to all who so generously contributed to our annual Mother’s Day gift collection. We were overwhelmed by the number of gift bags we received and will be handing out much-needed items to grateful women for the next month. So often, we take items like toothpaste, bath gel, hair conditioner, cologne, finger nail polish and other personal hygiene items for granted. However, many who struggle to put food on the table can only dream of these “luxuries.” Due to your generosity, these women feel a little more special….thank you for sharing some of your abundance with others. May God bless you. Teens Leave For Mission Trip at St. Mary’s Mission in Red Lake, MN Please keep the teens that are leaving this weekend to spend a week on mission with Fr. Jerry and his kids on the reservation in your thoughts and prayers. Twelve teens from IC Catholic Prep, along with two chaperones will arrive in Red Lake Monday evening. Godspeed! Heartfelt thanks to those who donated to our free-will offering two weeks ago. Your generosity has allowed these students to experience firsthand Christ’s command to care for the lesser of our brothers and sisters. The teens will pray for us while on mission and will recount their experience for all to see when they return home to IC. 10 The Most Holy Trinity May 26, 2013 The Most Holy Trinity May 26, 2013 11 12 The Most Holy Trinity May 26, 2013 Thank You to All of Our Capital Campaign Donors! \ (Listed below and on on the next four pages) Patricia Adams Brian & Karen Adigue Pat & Katy Ahern Julie Ahrens & Dennis Jabczynski Marie Ainsworth Selina & Phil Albue Peter & Stephanie Alfini Angela & Charles Anderson Georgene & Keith Anderson Arthur Aragones Fernando & Karen Araujo Ron & Kathy Arndt John & Carol Arnold Mark & Rosanne Ashton Diana Atkisson John & Susan Attard Scott & Eileen Backman Brett & Laurie Baker Helen Bank Tony & Gosia Baran Grace & Joseph Barney Marge & Ken Bartels Michael & Julie Barton Josephine & Lebert Bastianoni Pat & Jim Bauer Rita & Lloyd Beese Richard & Josephine Benedetto Robert & Laura Benza Terrence & Cynthia Berger Fred & Michelle Bero Joseph & Lucille Biggins Stanley J Biskup Charlotte M Blain M.D. & Hambly Family Richard & Elizabeth Bogdanowicz Douglas Borchers & Eileen Oregan Phil & Marilyn Boria Edward Boyle Richard & Therese Brandstatter John & Jennifer Bredemeyer Joanne & Liam Brennan Glenn & Mary Brinkman Thomas Brody & Amy Huseth Joseph & Susan Brosnan Kenneth & Karin Broton Danny & Jewel Brown David & Mary Brueggen Jeffrey & Kathryn Bryk Linda Buchalo Sue & Jeff Budgell Brian & Undine Buehing Richard Buhrfiend Ed & MaryEllen Burke Stacey & Kevin Burns William & Tammy Burr Tony & Kathy Buscemi Catherine Butler Fran & Beth Butler Judith A.
