TREASURES OF PERSIA ITINERARY
10 days exploring Iran “as old as history itself and as beautiful as eyes can perceive”
HOW IS YOUJUSTLIVEONCE DIFFERENT?
Breathtaking adventures
and extreme value for money are the
hallmarks of a ‘You Just Live Once’
trip. Our trips are aimed at travellers
who prefer a fun, independent,
convenient and responsible way to
travel. The structure for a great
travel experience is in place, but
plenty of free time means you can
go off and make your own
discoveries.
What makes us different from other
tour operators is that we do what we
do because we love it and we enjoy
doing it... we don’t do this for profit.
In fact, most of our trips are led by
us personally or we are part of the
group. Driven by our dedication,
passion and experience we strive to
make each tour more exciting and
interesting than the last. Whenever it
is not possible for us to be on the
trips, we only use local leaders. This
is our core philosophy, and one that
works perfectly. By employing a
leader who is local to the area you
are travelling through, you benefit
from the wealth of his or her first
hand knowledge. He knows the best
restaurants to eat in, the best food to
choose when you’re there and how
to read the menu! He knows the best
time to visit the sites, the best way to
get from A to B, the best backstreets
to explore, and most importantly
how to communicate with everyone
else in the country. Fully trained,
licensed and fluent in English, your
local guide will be the difference
between a great holiday experience
and an exceptional one.

WHAT OTHER TRAVELLERS SAID ABOUT YOUJUSTLIVEONCE.COM
“The itinerary was amazing viewing the best
highlights of the amazing Brazil, fantastic. All the
excursions were well organised and great, we
made some great new friends and we had the time
of our life… and all of this a whacking good
price!! Brazil. What an amazing country!
YouJustLiveOnce.com if you want a unique trip.”
Duncan Borg
“It was a huge leap of faith for me to entrust
YJLO with my long dreamed-about trip to Peru. I
had consulted foreign agencies before coming
across YJLO, but something struck me as right
about this agency, and the staff's enthusiasm for
exciting travel is infectious. I went with my gut
feeling and trusted them with all my holiday
arrangements. They were extremely patient and
helpful with all my questions, especially since I
did this trip alone. All I can say is that my instinct
was 100% correct: the trip was one of the most
wonderful things I have done in my life,
everything went smoothly, and never once did I
feel lost or was forgotten by any local reps. The
excursions and activities were one burst of
excitement after the other and the standard of the
hotels was just right for me (clean, not too many
frills, but not cheap hostel stuff either). My
experience with YJLO was perfect, and I can
honestly recommend YJLO to anyone who loves
seeing and exploring the world more closely and
with enthusiasm. As soon as I can afford another
trip like this, YJLO will be the one I call first!”
Adrian Cardona
“Real travelling with a difference. Value for
money; active trips for those who like nature and
culture, who like to meet new interesting
people...You just live once....so grab your
backpack and travel.”
Claudio Bezzina
“A very well organised fun-packed trip to a well
chosen destination offering scenic sights, a great
choice of activities and a world of adventure. Fun
tour guide and company. A truly memorable
experience. Well done and thanks!”
Jackie Briffa

“This is the second time I have travelled with
YJLO, and it has once again been a pleasure. The
itinerary fitted what I wanted to see most in South
Morocco, and it followed a logical order. The
company was brilliant and it was a very enjoyable
trip. YJLO trips are not for people who want
everything served on a plate, but for those
travellers who are active and enjoy an absorbing,
interesting and fun holiday, YJLO is definitely
the way to go!”
Adrian Cardona
“Nothing in life is perfect but the trips
Youjustliveonce.com organises, it’s fair to say,
are pretty much as close as you can get!....And
I'm a pretty critical person :)”
Stephanie Cassar
“YJLO is the best source for adventurous trips. I
wouldn't call them tours because that surely
wouldn't do them justice.”
Robert Vella
“It was a very memorable experience travelling
with Youjustliveonce.com. The itineraries were
excellent and the tour guide showed us his
experience and preparation in travelling. The
trekking and site seeing were impressive. If I
went to Slovenia alone, I'm sure that I had missed
some magnificent attractions that the tour guide
planned for us. The hotels chosen were also
comfortable, central and the all the amenities
required. This was very value for money holiday
and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for
an active and enjoyable holiday.”
Antonella Massa
“I really want to thank YouJustLiveOnce for their
dedication to make this trip an unforgettable one.
I met lots of interesting people that were so
friendly and willing to help. “Life is partly what
we make it, and partly what it is made by the
friends we choose.” I think this quote fits just
right for this trip we experienced together. If it
was not for all the great people that were on this
trip, this holiday would have not been so
successful as it was.”

IRAN... WHY IRAN? IS IT SAFE?
If travel is most rewarding
when it surprises, then Iran
might be just the most
rewarding destination on
Earth! If you fancy travelling
somewhere neither East nor
West, and exotic and
fascinating yet perfectly
comfortable, this trip is for
you!
REDIFINING HOSPITALITY
If you like people, you’ll like Iran. The Iranians, a
nation made up of numerous ethnic groups and
influenced over thousands of years by Greek,
Arab, Turkic and Mongol occupiers, are endlesslt
welcoming. For those who have grown up on an
endless diet of images depicting Iran as a dark,
dangerous place full of fundamentalist fanatics,
discovering the real Iran is the most wonderful
surprise. Before long you’re asking yourself: how
can something supposedly so bad be so good?
Beyond the stereotypes is a country desperate to
be seen for what it is, rather than what it is
depicted to be. Sure, not every Iranian you meet
is going to invite you for dinner. But if you’re
open to the idea, you probably will be, and
through it experience the ancient and
sophisticated Iranian culture first-hand.
IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF AN EMPIRE
Before you come to Iran, you might be thinking
the main reasons to visit the Islamic Republic are
because it’s a bit adventurous and there’s a lot to
see from the years when Persia was a great world
power. At some levels you’d be right. Walking
along the sublime, turquoise-tiled domes and
minarets of Isfahan’s Naqsh-e Jahan square, the
awesome power and beauty of Achaemenid’s
ancient capital at Persepolis and the mud brick
alleys and rooftops of Yazd will put you in the
footsteps of some of history’s most outstanding
figures. And certainly you won’t find yourself
crowded out of any sights... which is fun.
These highlights, together with the atmospheric
teahouses, bustling bazaars, deserts punctuated by
historic oases and rugged mountain ranges, gives
Iran more than its fair share of fantastic places to
see. But to think of Iran only in terms of ‘sights’
is to miss the real story.

POLITICS & SAFETY – SHOULD YOU GO?
If you make your travel decisions based on what
your friends and family say, you’ll probably
never make it to Iran. This is a country whose
politics are impossible to escape. For most
travellers that will mean little more than some
pre-departure questions about their sanity, but
once in Iran, travelling is smooth and extremely
rewarding especially through the people you
meet. A journey in Iran will change the way you
see this part of the world!

ITINERARY - DAY 1
(13 May)
MALTA – ISTANBUL – SHIRAZ
Our flight departs from Malta at 5:35am and lands in Istanbul, Turkey at 8:35am. Our next flight to Shiraz,
Iran takes off from Istanbul at 21:10 so we have 12 hours layover in Istanbul.
We have made arrangements for a comprehensive tour of Istanbul during this time. Just in case you
someone might have already been to Istanbul before, we left this excursion optional.
Our luggage will be checked through to Shiraz so in Istanbul we’ll only have our hand luggage with us.
We will be picked up from the airport and driven to the old part of Istanbul where we’ll meet our guide for
the day. On our tour we’ll see how old meets new when we’ll visit Istanbul's must-see’s. Formally called
Constantinople, Istanbul was the capital of the Roman Empire and Europe's wealthiest metropolis, and is
now the largest city in Turkey. Among other sites we’ll visit the Blue Mosque, one of the most famous
monuments in both the Turkish and Islamic worlds; Topkapi Palace, the largest and oldest palace in the
world; the Byzantine Hippodrome and the Basilica Cistern underneath it and the Grand Bazaar, one of the
world's largest covered markets, with 58 streets and over 4,000 shops. We’ll round off our tour with a
cruise along the Bosphorus, the majestic strait that runs through Istanbul, linking Europe and Asia. From
the boat, one can view the dramatic sights lining the Bosphorus' wooded shores: mosques, a bridge that for
a time was the world's longest and the massive Rumeli Hisari, the 19th century mansions of the Ottoman
elite and the Sultan's fanciful gingerbread palaces and hunting lodges.
We will be transferred back to the airport in time for our flight into south-western Iran... precisely in the
city of Shiraz, the capital city of Fars province. Landing time will be very late at night so we will transfer
to a hotel where we can spend the night.
Tonight, accommodation will be in the 4 star Aryo Barzan Hotel or similar www.aryohotel.com/home.htm

ITINERARY - DAY 2
(14 MAY)
SHIRAZ
Shiraz is a city of sophistication that has been celebrated as the heartland of Persian culture for more than
2000 years. Known as the Dar-ol-Elm (House of Learning), the City of Roses, City of Love and City of
Gardens, Shiraz has become synonymous with education, nightingales, poetry and wine. It was one of the
most important cities in the medieval Islamic world and was the Iranian capital during the Zand dynasty
(AD 1747–79), when many of its most beautiful buildings were built or restored.
According to Islamic historians, Shiraz came into existence only after the Arab conquest of Iran. The Arab
invasion, in fact, contributed to its importance and by the 13th century, Shiraz had grown into one the
largest and most popular Islamic cities of the era. Since then, different people have lived in the Fars
province such as the Aryans, the Samis and the Turks, who worked together to form the rich Iranian
culture that is still very much evident today. The most interesting buildings in Shiraz are located in the old
part of the town and this is where we’ll spend most of our time today. Our guide will accompany us
arounto the main highlights such as the Naranjestan garden, the Nasr-ol-Molk mosque, the Shrine of Shah
Cheragh, Ali ebne Hamzeh Mosque and the Mausoleum of Hafez and Sa’adi. After lunch we will visit the
famous Vakil Bazaar and will have ample time to explore its beautiful courtyards, caravanserais, bath
houses and old shops which are deemed among the best places in Shiraz to buy all kinds of Persian rugs,
spices, copper handicrafts and antiques.
Tonight, accommodation will be in the same hotel as yesterday.

ITINERARY - DAY 3
(15 May)
SHIRAZ – PERSEPOLIS – NAQSH-E RUSTAM
After breakfast we’ll drive for around an hour and a half to visit the magnificent ruins of Persepolis.
The monumental staircases, exquisite reliefs and imposing gateways leave you in no doubt how grand this
city was and how totally dominant the Achaemenid Empire (the empire that built it) was. Persepolis is a
result of the vast body of skill and knowledge gathered from throughout the Achaemenids’ empire. It is
Persian in ideology and design, but truly international in its superb architecture and artistic execution. This
multicultural concoction is unique in the ancient world and while largely ruined, Persepolis remains the
greatest surviving masterpiece of the ancient Near Eastern civilisations.
After Persepolis we’ll drive around 10 Km to visit Naqsh-e Rustam Necropolis - an archaeological site
consisting of four Achaemenid kings’ tombs carved out of the rock face.
In the afternoon we’ll drive back to Shiraz. The rest of the day is free.
Tonight, accommodation will be in the same hotel as yesterday.
[email protected]
ITINERARY - DAYS 4-5
(16-17 May)
SHIRAZ – YAZD
After breakfast we leave Shiraz and drive north east to the city of Yazd. The drive will take us around 5
hours plus stops for lunch etc so we’ll arrive in Yazd in the afternoon. After checking in at out hotel, the
rest of day 4 will be free.
While Yazd lacks the big-ticket sights of Isfahan or Persepolis, the atmosphere in its streets is to say the
least, enchanting. According to Unesco Yazd’s historic centre is one of the oldest towns on earth and it is
the perfect place to get a feel of the region’s rich history. With its winding lanes, forest of badgirs, mudbrick old buildings and charismatic people, Yazd is a place to wander and get lost in the maze of historic
streets and lanes.
In the morning of day 5, we will take a guided walking tour during which we’ll visit the main highlights
such as the Zoroastrian Towers of Silence, the qanat inside the Water Museum, Amir Chaqmaq complex,
Masjid-e-Jāmeh mosque and the New Fire Temple. A trip to Yazd cannot be complete before one makes
his way to one of the roofs from where the unique badgir-dotted brown skyline can be observed.
On the nights of days 4 and 5, accommodation will be at Hotel Dad or similar.

ITINERARY - DAYS 6-8
(18-20 May)
YAZD – ISFAHAN
After breakfast on day 6 we’ll drive north towards Iran’s most famous destination: the mythical Isfahan.
Half way there we will stop at semi-somnolent town of Na’in... an important crossroad on the trade routes
since Sassanid times. In the past it was known for its ceramics and textiles; these days it is primarily
known for its carpets and camel-wool cloaks, many of which are sold in Yazd. Upon reaching Isfahan
we’ll check in at our hotel and the rest of the day will be free.
Days 7 and 8 are dedicated entirely to Iran’s masterpiece, the jewel of ancient Persia and one of the finest
cities in the Islamic world: Isfahan. The exquisite blue mosaic tiles of Isfahan’s Islamic buildings, its
expansive bazaar and its gorgeous bridges demand as much of any traveller’s time as one can spare. It is a
city for walking, getting lost in the bazaar, dozing in beautiful gardens, drinking tea and chatting to locals
in the marvellous teahouses. More than anything else, though, Isfahan is a place for savouring the high
refinements of Persian culture most evident in and around Imam Sq – the Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah
Mosque, Ali Qapu Palace and Chehel Sotun Palace. Isfahan’s profusion of tree-lined boulevards, Persian
gardens and important Islamic buildings gives Isfahan a visual appeal unmatched by any other Iranian city.
Over these two days guided sightseeing will be planned in a way to allow as much free time as possible so
that one can absorb the atmosphere of this buzzing city at his/her own pace.
Accommodation from tonight till the end of the trip will be in Sheikh Bahaei Hotel or similar.

ITINERARY - DAY 9
(21 May)
ISFAHAN – ABYANEH – MATIN ABAD – KASHAN
Today we’ll leave Isfahan earlier than usual as we drive north (around 2 hrs) towards the foot of Mt Karkas
to visit the ancient village of Abyaneh. This village is at least 1500 years old and is a warren of steep,
twisting lanes and crumbling red mud-brick houses with lattice windows and fragile wooden balconies.
Local woman still wear traditional clothing consisting of white long scarves covering the shoulders and
upper trunk. They have persistently maintained this traditional costume despite pressures from time to time
by the government trying to change it.
We will have lunch in the village and then we hit the road again as we descend from mountain territory to
desert (difference of 1300m) with our destination being the desert camp of Matin Abad. This is a site of
unparalleled beauty as the desert plains constantly change colors from rich green to pale oceans of swaying
grass and desert shrubs and trees. Here we’ll have the opportunity to partake into activities such as bike
excursion, nature walks and camel rides. We’ll stay in Matin Abad until sunset after which we’ll drive for
another hour until we reach Kashan where we’ll check in at our hotel for the night.
Tonight accommodation will be at Noghli House or similar.

ITINERARY - DAYS 10-11
(22-23 May)
KASHAN – ISFAHAN
Kashan, which lies on the rim of the great Dasht-e-Kavir desert is a city that has survived numerous natural
and man-made disasters, from the sixth millennium BC down to the present day. The city stands out with
its historical sites and natural beauties and today we’ll explore its highlights such as the Fin gardens,
Broojerdiha house, Sultan-Mir-Ahmad Hammam and Agha-bozorg mosque.
Kashan is also the city of carpets, velvets, glazed tiles, pottery and rose water distillation. Almost every
family in town owns one or more Golestan (rose garden), which is watered, cared for, weeded, and sprayed
during the whole year until rose picking season which should coincide with when we are there.
Our visit to Kashan should also coincide with the annual Festival of Rose and Rose Water which attracts
people from all corners of the world. In the evenings music is played and people sing till midnight, to
entertain the visitors and tourists, and to sooth the weary gardeners and their families.
In the evening we will drive back south in the direction of Isfahan where we will spend our last night in
Iran.
Very early in the morning on day 11 we will transfer to Isfahan International Airport to catch our flight
back home via Istanbul, Turkey. We will arrive in Malta around noon.

TERMS & CONDITIONS
‘You Just Live Once’ trips are not run as a commercial activity. A ‘You Just Live Once’ trip is no different
than when you travel with a group of friends except from the fact that in this case you have the luxury of all
the logistics and organisation being taken care of. These Terms and Conditions have been laid out to clarify
what you (the Traveller) should expect and what would be expected from you on a ‘You Just Live Once’
trip. These conditions cover every aspect of your holiday, from the moment you book up until the moment
you return home. ‘You Just Live Once’ accepts participating in their trips subject to the following terms and
conditions:
1) Your Contract with ‘You Just Live Once’
To secure a booking ‘You Just Live Once’ requires a completed and signed booking form together with
a non- refundable deposit as specified in the booking form or full payment for travel not later than 56 days
before departure. Travellers booking by e-mail will be deemed to have read the booking conditions and
accepted them even in the case that these Term and Conditions are not included in the booking form file
submitted. A booking is accepted and becomes definite only from the date when ‘You Just Live Once’ has
confirmed acceptance in writing. It is at this point that a contract between ‘You Just Live Once’ and the
Traveller comes into existence. Before your booking is confirmed and a contract comes into force, ‘You
Just Live Once’ reserves the right to increase or decrease published prices. Since ‘You Just Live
Once’ trips are essentially private trips, ‘You Just Live Once’ reserve the right to decline any booking at
their discretion. The contract is between ‘You Just Live Once’ and the Travellers, being all persons named

of all persons whose names appear thereon, and confirms that all such persons are fully aware of and
accept these conditions. The contract, including all matters rising from it, is subject to Maltese
Law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Maltese Courts.
2) Payment for your Trip
The balance of all monies due, including any surcharges applicable at that time, must be paid
to ‘You Just Live Once’ not later than 56 days before departure. In the case of non-payment of the balance
by the due date, ‘You Just Live Once’ will treat the booking as cancelled by the Traveller and the deposit
forfeited.
3) The Local Payment
If the Trip being booked requires a local payment, this must be paid in cash at the start of the trip to the
group leader / courier on the day of departure in the currency stated beforehand in the Trip dossier, brochure
or pre-departure briefing. The Local Payment does not cover all meals but is an intrinsic part of the tour cost
and contributes towards the overall costs. It is accepted that the Local Payment amount is subject to
change due to exchange fluctuations and price shifts as its is based on estimates at the time of publishing.
4) Changes by You
Any changes to the original booking must be confirmed in writing by the person signing the booking form.
Whilst every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate changes and additional requests, their
availability cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to 3rd party restrictions and/or applicable charges or

change any of the facilities, services or prices described in the brochure (including flights, accommodation
or other arrangements) and to substitute alternative arrangements of the closest monetary value
available without compensation and accepts no liability for loss of enjoyment as a result of these
changes. If a major change becomes necessary ‘You Just Live Once’ will inform the Traveller as soon as
reasonably possible if there is time before departure.
5 b) In rare cases, an operational minimum number of participants might be required for a trip. In the event
of a tour not reaching this number, then ‘You Just Live Once’ is within its right to consolidate the tour,
increase the price per person or offer an alternative. In this event ‘You Just Live Once’ will refund in full
any deposits/monies paid for services being offered by ‘You Just Live Once’. ‘You Just Live Once’ will not
however be liable for any penalty charges or additional charges incurred by the Traveller in buying services
from 3rd parties in relation to the trip such as flights. In normal circumstances, ‘You Just Live Once’ advises
for the purchase of flight tickets only once the operational minimum has been achieved.
6) Substitution of Traveller
If any number of the party is prevented from travelling because of death, injury or serious illness of the
passenger, close relative or friend, redundancy or jury service, it may be possible to transfer the booking
to another suitable person provided that written notice is given at least 30 days prior to departure. Any
costs imposed by 3rd party suppliers such as but not limited to airlines and hotels will be levied accordingly.
7) Cancellation by You

Once’ whatsoever. The decision of the tour leader will be final on all matters relating to the satisfactory
progress, organization and wellbeing of the trip. Travellers must comply with all reasonable requests of
