VALE
Sid Hillier, a former member of Mudjimba SLSC passed away earlier this year and the
contribution of effort that Sid put into the formation of Mudjimba SLSC should be
recognized.
Sid was an invaluable person to have on the Steering Committee that formed the Mudjimba
Rescue Service which then allowed us to gain affiliation with Surf Lifesaving Queensland,
Sunshine Coast Branch. His wealth of knowledge of Surf Lifesaving steered us along the
path to become Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club.
Sid was Secretary of Mudjimba Rescue Service, then Secretary of Mudjimba SLSC and then
Treasurer of Mudjimba SLSC, and at the same time, he was the Administrator of Marcoola
SLSC. A truly remarkable feat.
Sid was the always the cranky old b-----d at Committee Meetings. You always had to be
careful what was said and would always get shouted down if you did not follow the rules and regulations of Surf Life
Saving. It was like walking on egg shells when you were near Sid, or if you had to talk to him, you would always be mindful
of every word that you spoke. We would all fear the wroth of Sid Hillier. However, we all knew that his intention was all
good for the cause of Surf Lifesaving.
Sid left Mudjimba SLSC in 1999 due to the amount of work as Administrator of Marcoola SLSC. We thank him for the great
work that he did at Mudjimba SLSC. His work is documented in the Annual Reports 1-4.
RIP Sid Hillier

President’s Report
What a great season our little club has had, not only did we have some of the best weather
and conditions we have had for several years, we excelled in just about all areas related to
lifesaving. Our members should be justifiably proud of the season we have had, as they are the
ones, who put in the patrol hours, do the training, improve their skills and provide a
community service. What a fantastic effort Mudjimba.
I would like to thank the Patrol Captains, the Vice Patrol Captains, our Bronzies, our Award
holders and our SRC's all of the people who contributed to us posting a club record 10,000
patrol hours in one season. An amazing result, and a true testament to the commitment and
passion our members have towards lifesaving and our community.
I have had a great time being Club President this season, it has been both rewarding and at times challenging. Our club
was certainly lucky to have had founding members such as Steve Smith, Mick Coleman, Greg Carson, Guy Tanner, Mark
Windsor, Sid Hillier and many others who established a club culture at Mudjimba that is special and unique. Our culture is
something that all of us should be proud of and we all need to help preserve that culture as our club moves forward.
We were also fortunate this season to be able to induct two new Life Members Kim Hatton and Darrin Edwards Both of
these people have contributed to the growth and the success of our club and are very deserving of being awarded Life
Memberships. Congratulations.
Some of the more memorable moments over this season include, the mutton birds on our beach, the huge amount of
pumice that was washed up, the Mudjimba to Mooloolaba swim, the hail storm with hail the size of cricket balls that
rained down on patrol 2, Natalie Cook coming and talking to our younger members and starting a nipper volleyball
program, our Rainbow Beach camp for the SRC's and Bronzies, a visit by Coolangatta Gold winner Ali Day, Red Faces
night, our Christmas party and our clubs amazing results in Surf Sports - this all helped make for a terrific and memorable
season. But the most important thing was, we had a successful season patrolling our beach with all our friends and
visitors going home safely.
Next season our club will continue to develop closer ties with the Mudjimba Community. One of our recent initiatives has
seen several members of the Mudjimba board riders invited to join our club as associate members. This is all about our
club engaging with our community and also helping to develop and maintain a healthy relationship with our fellow beach
users.
When I first started here as a patrolling member I did not appreciate nor understand all the work especially paperwork
that needs to be completed by the Executive and Management Committees on our behalf. It is amazing and we need to
remember that all of the management team are volunteers, volunteers who share a passion to keep our beach safe and
our club in good shape.
I would like to thank the people who make up our clubs Executive, Management and Lifesaving Committees; Guy Tanner,
Pete Harvey, Cheryl Prior, Fay Tanner, Steve Smith, Adam Amos, Scott Cossar, Graham Miliken, Dean Hore, Katherine
Douglas and Andrea Fesselet. You have all contributed to a hugely successful year at the club. I would also like to thank
and acknowledge all the great work that Val Colley our administrator does. Val has made my job a lot easier.
This season we have had some remarkable surf sports success at junior and senior levels which has been a result of many
hours of hard work by our trainers and coaches. Todd McSwan, Lindsay McDonald-Clow, Scott Peirce and Guy Peirce you
have all helped our members achieve some fantastic individual and club results, including our first ever Gold Teams
Medal at Aussies.
My final thanks goes our sponsors for their support, a club such as ours just could not operate without their generosity.
Our heartfelt thanks goes to the Bendigo Bank, Nambour RSL, North Shore Realty, Nambour Smash Repairs, the
Boardstore, Mudjimba Beach News, Scream Print Screen Printing, Mojo Burns, Park Lakes Bli Bli, Queensland
Government, Sunrise Bakery, North Shore Lions and everyone else who supports our club.
Thanks for a great season and I hope to see you all back next year for an even better season.
Yours in Lifesaving

Club Captain
What a fantastic season our little club has had, “punching again and
again above our weight”. Thank you to everyone for the support and
embracing my first year as Club Captain. A special thanks to Michael
Hughes for giving me the support required in making the Transition.
It only feels like last week that we all paid our fees and completed
our proficiencies.
Firstly, I would like to thank each and every member who patrolled
our beach this season for your contribution to our vision statement
of “Zero Preventable Drownings at Mudjimba Beach". It was
fantastic to have the Sun Gods shine on us this season to make our
time on the beach exciting and enjoyable. We had challenging surf
conditions at times with multiple rips, rocks and sand changing on a daily occurrence.
This season we have had a great number of youth added to the patrolling ranks of eight very strong patrols. Our youth
are our strength and driving force for the future and they are bringing out the best in our club. A special thanks to Larnie
Tierney our Youth Development Officer for her guidance and inspiration.
As with previous seasons we have been very active within the training department. Thank you to all our Trainers,
Assessors and CTO Guy Tanner. It has put the club in a great position with 178 patrolling members, made up of 76 (1418yr active members), 93(18yrs plus active and life members) and (9 award members) with strength in all awards giving
room for expansion of our patrols.
Well here comes the important part of Mudjimba SLSC, the patrols of our beach. Thank you to the Patrol Captains and
Vice Patrol Captains it was a pleasure to work with you. Your dedication, vision and commitment to the movement shows
the passion within the club. It has been a great season with good results and some brilliant rescues. This season at
Mudjimba Beach we patrolled a Massive 10225.75 hours and completed 56 rescues, with only 16 of them were between
the flags. The great abilities of all you members to recognise and prevent an event are outstanding with a total of 1289
preventive actions.
The spirit within the club is strong with the support shown in the annual Door Knock, Xmas BBQ, Red Faces night,
Carnivals, Fund raising, Charity events, Club Championships, Dogs Day and the Annual Dinner. Mudjimba SLS community I
salute and thank you.
Lastly a very special thanks to the wives, husbands, partners and families for the supporting all of us with the office hours
we spend at the beach doing what we cherish and love.
Thanks for the good times.

Secretary’s and Registrar Report
For those of you who don't know me, I have been a member of
the club since Indi started Nippers in 2005, then in 2007 I took
over the role of JAC Registrar from Maree ... thanks Maree...
moving along to 2010, Maree again handed over her reigns for
me to take on the role as Senior Registrar... thanks again Maree!
I should have seen the pattern. I became Secretary for this
wonderful Mudjimba SLSC this season (2013/14).
Some days our house became a mini registration office which is
now changing with all the registrations being able to be
completed on-line. Thanks to Val for assisting in the transition. I
encourage you all to have a look at your on-line account; you
can find all sorts of things there.
I would like to thank Michael and Cheryl for helping us get the
job done and the rest of the committee for keeping the monthly
meetings entertaining and our bellies satisfied. I would also like to thank GT.
Club Service Award - Fay Tanner
The Annual Presentation Dinner was something I had never organised before and I would like to thank everyone who
helped put me on the right track. I would especially like to thank Wendy Coppo for decorating the tables and hall for us,
what a wonderful job!
Over the years I have seen many changes in the Club; with the growth of membership, upgrades and changes in the
computer systems we use and people come and go and come back. Which-ever way you came to be here, you have
helped make the club what it is – a friendly, family Surf Life Saving Club and I feel thankful I have come to know you.
Looking forward to another great year
Yours in Lifesaving

Treasurer
The audited financial results are included in this Annual report for members review. Overall
a successful year from a financial point of view with an increase in our cash position due to:
•
Increase in sponsorships and signage (thanks President Michael) and donations
from supporters
•
Increase in overall membership numbers
•
Sale of surplus equipment
•
Reduction in repair costs (Old vehicle and IRB’s in 2012/13)
•
Overall control of operating expenses (we run off the smell of an oily rag and a lot
of volunteer hours)
Our operational costs are met by the SLS Operational Subsidy which was unchanged from 2012/2013 and our
Membership fees. We continue to rely on the awarding of Grants, participation of members in fundraising events and on
wonderful donations from various members of our Community to fund our capital and asset purchases.
Grants
This year we received approval for 2 grants.
Sustainability Grant (SLS)
Recovery of State Conference fees only
More Beaches Under Guard
New 4WD Ute
Donations
The Club has many wonderful supporters who have provided funds for specific and general capital items and expenses –
Energex, D Weir, Akers Family, Nambour RSL,North Shore Lions, Mudjimba Art Group, D Alford, G Moyle, North Shore
Realty and many more. We could not function without the unceasing generosity of the community.
Fundraising Activities by Members
SLS Doorknock , Water Safety for Noosa Tri, Caloundra Tri, Qld Swimming and Junior Tri at Twin Waters, BBQ for Jet Ski
Champs, Nippers BBQ. These fundraising events not only add to our coffers but also have generated enormous goodwill
due to the professional and competent way we as a club participate at these events. Congratulations to all (particularly
YIPs and their parents) for giving up their time in this way.
This is my third (and intending to be last) as Treasurer. I am continually amazed at the time and effort so many people put
in to making this small Club run effectively and the wonderful family culture we have here. Thank you everyone
(particularly Val) for your assistance to me.
Cheryl Prior

Chief Training Officer
Many awards gained during the season including 28 new SRC’s and about 29 new Bronze
awards. Other awards trained included, IRB driver and crew awards, advanced resus and
spinal, Patrol Captain, ATV and Tractor, Assessor and Trainers award.
The season also had Katherine Douglas complete her Gold Medallion, which is a very tough
award to gain. It tests both the physical and mental side of the trainee, well done Katherine.
I would like to thank all the members who turned up to complete their awards, without you
we do not survive.
I would also like to thank our small but determined group of trainers and assessors, Katherine
Douglas, Steve Smith, Peter Harvey, Kye Burke, Scott Cossar, Dean Hore, Kaitlyn Akers, Narelle Robertson, Ben Hore and
James Crockett.
Regards
Guy Tanner

IRB Officer
Nice quite season on the IRB front, most importantly no injuries. Some repair work is being completed in the off season,
along with motor servicing. The boats and motors in general are in good condition, this is due to our members looking
after our equipment.
Thanks to Glen Lamont for helping out and caring for our fleet. Hopefully I can talk Glen into taking on the IRB Officer role
next season.
Next season will see the full implementation of PFD’s and some development in the foot strap area.
Guy Tanner
Clubhouse Director
To do nothing results in nothing, to do something results in great achievements. From the
ordinary to extraordinary from the adverse to the diverse, people coming together with a
multitude of skills, talents and beliefs however with a single goal, a passion to endure, a
common ground with limitless resources....., what I’m talking about is human spirit.
Mudjimba Surf Life Saving Club is the quintessence of human spirit. Its infectious embodiment
glows from every member and those associated with it. Young ones, Old ones, loud and proud, quiet and meticulous,
experienced ones willing to guide the way and pass on the flame. Our family surf club “Mudjimba” to which I am proudly
a member of, I thank you for the ride of my life and wish to continue on. Ready for a challenge, willing to learn and serve.
Community minded, senseless acts of beauty performed at a phenomenal rate. Who wouldn’t miss another season or be
anywhere else for that matter.
Thanks,
Scott Cossar
Clothing Officer
It’s been another busy season with many items being supplied from our ‘Clothing Cupboards’ hi vis
pink vests, swimwear, rashies, water safety vests, caps, hats, t-shirts, polo’s, shorts, long-sleeved
button up shirts, new patrol uniforms, hooded zip jackets.
It’s great to see our Mudjimba SLSC Club merchandise being worn around the coast and beyond.
Special thanks to Lisa for her time this year you will be missed, a warm welcome to Madeline. On
this note I would also like to thank anyone else who has given their time and assisted me with the
‘clothing cupboards’.
Yours in Life Saving

Junior Activities (Nippers)
JAC Chairman
WOW, that was a baptism by fire!
I have run a small business for about 15 years, patrolled for 7 years, Patrol Captain for most
of those, been a Waverunner Operator for 4 years and a deputy JAC for 1 year, with all this
experience I undertook the role as JAC Chairman but could not comprehend the magnitude
of what encompasses a Nipper Program.
130+ kids, 50+ parents and carers, 40+ water safety, food, entertainment, competition, education, a weekly program in
potentially dangerous conditions, and so many other elements I won’t bore you with. This turned out to be like running a
small Corporation.
The most rewarding aspect of this role is how a great committee can bring it all together and that is what I was blessed
with. Our committee is a good and strong committee with a huge depth of experience, a mixture of ideas and opinions, to
which it was a privilege to Chair.
Special thanks to our outgoing Secretary Karyn Cook and Awards/Education officer Nikki Currie who were both a wealth
of knowledge and information. Dale Bishop, after 3 years as an Age Manager leaves us imparting all that positive
knowledge and skills into those kids which will surely benefit their lives into the future. Thanks Mate.
Jodie and Bruce Johns, Mat Baldock, thanks for your endeavours in the kitchen. Enjoy some time on the beach with your
kids. Cheers
Age Managers, Assistant Age Managers & Water Safety, your dedication is amazing, to which all our kids, families and
Surf Club are eternally grateful.
With amazing people, amazing things can happen. This was never more so true than the commitment Swanny and Lindz
put into our Surf Sport Kids and the outstanding results they have achieved. Without doubt the most successful team at
Branch and State levels ever.
Regardless of the success that is achieved, what is truly inspiring about this team is the spirit in which they go about their
work. Hard work, commitment and perseverance during training and an attitude of respect and support for each other,
which is second to none and most important, fun on the day is what I believe makes this the most successful Mudjimba
Nippers Team ever.
Thanks to you boys and the parents for supporting your kids. Plenty of training in the off season in preparation for next
season, so let’s keep rolling.
A massive thanks to all that have put up their hand for next seasons committee, welcome back to the people continuing
on and congratulations to the new members, it is an extremely rewarding experience you will remember forever.
I have many fond memories from the 2013/14 season, a few of which were going to my first Rainbow camp and seeing
the dedication our trainers put into our U14’s to get them to SRC, meeting an Olympic Beach Volleyball Champion,
Natalie Cook who helped establish beach volleyball as part of our events, the beautiful weather we so kindly received
after a few years of rubbish, getting back in touch with our Northerly neighbours Marcoola in a fun day of rivalry, our
awesome points day at Cotton Tree, but the best is to see the bravery of some of our kids overcome their fears and tears
when entering the surf, and coming out with beaming smiles. What’s even funnier is the U8’s and new nipper mums
freaking out on where we’re taking their babies.
Moving forward to next season will see us starting at the beginning of the September school holidays, so keep your eyes
and ears out for registration and proficiency days.
Proficiency days, we will be STRONGLY encouraging parents and carers to swim the 200m required to obtain your Surf
Rescue Certificate. This is one of the only sports out there that you are encouraged to participate with your child, so if
you don’t think you can do it, start training.
Surf Sports will be massive again and there’s a greater involvement with the youth to help train our kids in all the skills
they have learnt through their time as Nippers.
14
Thank You Again for your trust and support throughout the season and
I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it with the new committee to
make 2014/15 bigger and better.

Surf Sports Officer’s Report
2013/ 2014 season would have to be the best season in the history of Mudjimba SLSC. The enthusiasm of members to
compete at Carnivals was outstanding and this resulted in Mudjimba being a competitive force in the Sunshine Coast
Branch.
Coaching and training for Nippers was taken to a new level this season which resulted in many members winning medals
at Branch and State Carnivals.
The U8 – 10 Branch Carnival at Redcliffe was well attended with great results.
At The U11 – 14 Branch Championships, 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals were won and the Club placed 9th overall.
The U11 – 14 State Championships were held at North Kirra and a number of members represented the Club at this
Carnival. There were some great results including I believe, the Clubs first medal at a State Nipper Carnival. The U13 Male
Beach Relay Team won a Silver Medal. Congratulations to all.
Thank you to Todd McSwan, Lindsay McDonald-Clow and Scott Peirce for all the time and effort put in to coaching the
Nippers. The results of your time is appreciated.
The Masters competitors had a busy season with good results. At the Coolum Masters, Mudjimba was placed 4th overall.
The Branch Championships were held at Mooloolaba and Mudjimba placed 7th with 7 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and
17 Bronze medals.
The State Championships were held at North Kirra and the competitors won 5 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals and 4 Bronze
medals.
The Aussies were held at Scarborough Beach WA. Todd McSwan, Lindsay McDonald- Clow, Mick Coleman and Scott
Peirce competed. They won Gold in the 140 y/o Beach Relay, which is the first team Gold medal won by Mudjimba at the
Aussies. Todd McSwan won Gold in the 40-44 y/o Flags for the second straight year. Congratulations to all.
The number of Masters Competitors has grown over the past 8 years due to the enthusiasm and commitment of Guy
Peirce. We thank Guy for his time and guidance since joining Mudjimba SLSC.
A team of members competed in the Branch Surf Rescue Championships and were placed 6th overall. Thanks to
Katherine, Keely, C.J, Frosty, Josh, Ashleigh, Jamie-Bree, Zara, Dana, Mel and Sharon for representing Mudjimba SLSC at
this Carnival. This Carnival is all about the core of Surf Lifesaving and we are very thankful to have these fine members
represent our Club at this event.
Katherine won the Champion Lifesaver event and went on to compete at the State Surf Rescue Carnival. Mitchell Davison
also qualified for the State Surf Rescue Carnival and enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Peter Harvey and Kye Burke for
the time and effort put into the training of these competitors.
I would like to thank all Team Managers, Coaches and Water Safety personnel who assisted throughout the season.
Special thanks to Officials who attended Carnivals this season. Without Officials, we would not be able to achieve what
we have done this season.

Dogs Day
A small rain storm didn’t dampen the spirits of the old dogs and young
pups for the Dogs Day Challenge after the Club Championships.
Once again, the Old Dogs prevailed by winning the Touch Footy and
the Boat Race.
The Softball was won convincingly by the Young Pups.
The Dogs Day Challenge was started in the first season when
Mudjimba SLSC was formed. There was great rivalry between the
younger members and the older members of the Club, so the
challenge was set up to settle the argument of who really are the top
dogs and the Old Dogs have won every challenge.

New Life Members are:
Darrin Edwards
Welcome new Life Member Darrin Edwards to the Mudjimba Surf Lifesaving Club.
Darrin has been a fantastic patrolling member gaining his Bronze in 1999; he then
went on to get his Silver Medallion (Patrol Captain) in 2002. He has been a PC since
then & has mentored many members in this role with his strong leadership qualities.
He has always displayed a very professional and welcoming manner.
Darrin has also been a very competitive member of our Masters Surf Sports team. He
has held the position of Deputy President of our club and with his experience has
assisted and advised management committee members.
We look forward to Darrin continuing his involvement in the future of our club.
Kim Hatton
Kim has been an outstanding member of the Club and has recruited many friends
and relatives. Since she became a Training Officer, she has trained and assessed
many Bronze & Proficiency groups over the years; her wealth of knowledge of
Surf Lifesaving is willingly passed on other members.
Kim also helps in fundraising, particularly through the Pacific Paradise State
School’s Surf Awareness Program and for the past thirteen years she has
instructed these children and the School makes a donation to the Club for this
instruction.
Kim has been a member of Patrol 3 for the past 13 years and Vice Patrol Captain for most of this time. There have been
many times when Kim has taken on the task of Patrol Captain without hesitation and with a professional approach. Kim is
always fun to be on patrol with. She will always make you smile.

Patrol Reports
Patrol 1
What an interesting year – to say the least.
During the 2013/14 season, Patrol One has been hit with the influx of new patrolling members including Diane, Holly,
Bronte, Jake, Jonti and Judah plus a few additions from within the club; Sam, Robbie and Hayley. We also lost a number of
‘those who shall not be named…’ bringing our patrol to a regular bunch of beach babes and bums.
The weather was kind for the majority of patrols and ended in a spectacular sunrise and gorgeous day topping the season
off on a high.
The steering of Patrol One has been taken in a different direction and although there was a low point during the season, I
commend Patrol One members for hanging in, turning up and continuing with their patrol. It is the team that suffers the
lows that can reach the highs.
Well done Patrol One and see you all soon,
Narelle and Dave
22
Patrol 2
Having worked with the same individuals for a
couple of seasons now you really start to develop
an ethos within a patrol. It is Patrol 2’s ethos, which
is a culture of understanding the seriousness of
what our roles are with the ability of not being so
serious between ourselves, which makes it such an
enjoyable patrol to be a part of.
It is great leading a very family oriented patrol and
seeing families enjoying the experiences together.
Some are lucky enough to patrol with their kids like
The Hughes and McKenna Family; others just enjoy
their company when they come down the beach.
We have a great bunch of youth who get along
really well and it’s great to see other youth wanting
to volunteer their time with us.
I was a very proud PC when Lindz achieved his Gold
Medal at the Aussie titles and we are lucky to have
him bring his passion to our patrol.
We had a huge acquisition in welcoming Katherine Douglas to our patrol
late in the season, Kath brings a wealth of knowledge and experience
which we’ll sure be putting to good use in the training our team next
season.
Last of all I wish a speedy recovery to Dale Bishop who will be having
surgery to mend his troublesome wrist, Dale has been a vigilant patrol
member and an Age Manager for 3 years and I’m sure he’ll be back
stronger than ever.
Thanks to all you guys for the professional and fun attitude you undertake
the patrols with. We had no really serious incidents throughout the season
which is a true sign of good beach management, oh, except for nearly
killing the president on one of my only days off!!!
Adam Amos
Patrol 3
Great season. Great patrol team. Great beach. Great weather.
What more could you ask for?
Steve Smith

Patrol 4
My first season with Patrol 4 and what a great
patrol team!
We had a fantastic season with no major incidents
and mostly awesome weather. A bit of a shark scare
but hey, always wanted to see how fast the beach
evacuated!
Thank you to the backbone of Patrol 4. Rather than
one Captain this year we had four! Darrin Nic and
Cleveland, your leadership skills are the reason
every-one of our beach visitors went home safely.
Glenn was our IRB guru this season and I am
crossing fingers he takes on this and possibly a
bigger role with the IRB’s next season… and also
convinces Madeline to join us officially.
Grant and Tim thank you for being there every week
come rain or shine. Chloe, Hayley and Ollie from
First Aid to spotting people in trouble and assisting
in rescues, you should be proud of your skills. If ever
I’m in trouble I hope you’re on the beach that day.
Sam, Shauna and Malcolm, I look forward to seeing
you again next season.
Welcome back Matt! Am so glad you picked our patrol, your board skills have only got better. And welcome to our
newest members Quintus, Ruben and Garrick, after only a couple of patrols I have every confidence you will be amazing
Lifesavers.
We had so much extra help this season with members from many other patrols coming in for a few hours here and there,
thank you all.
Can’t wait to see you all again next Season!

Patrol 5
Super ‘n’ Awesome some of the best lifesavers about.
Fun, fitness and family; In the water and out,
It’s with vigilance on our beach, that we serve,
Taking P5 straight to the top of the lifesaving talent curve.
In Twenty-fourteen we broadened the crew
SRCs and Bronzes’: Ethan, Dom, Hunter, Sasha, Conner, Danni,
Rubes Jack, Tom, Evie, Jake…
The talent just grew!
On our first patrol, Belle with a kayak that had failed to float
Scotty and Chris …to the rescue in the inflatable boat!
Nippers, water safety, swims, fundraising, doorknocks and
parades,
Committees, surf sports, we looked good in our Shades!
As the season went on: Whales, blood noses and dislocated
shoulders
We’ve seen it all, and boy its helped mould us,
We’ve done rescues and lots of First Aid,
And what’s more… I reckon we’ve made the grade!
We drank coffees; ate ice blocks and cakes and chips galore
Besides footy games, fitness, stories and waves and so much
more
The rain came and P5 were sad when we had to bury birds and
a turtle,
But Mensa mind games kept our imaginations busy and fertile.
Besides all the mischief, energy and all the good fun stuff
I can think of no better team when the going gets rough!
So caps up and shout out to each one, your PC is so proud of all
that you have done!

Patrol 7
Fantastic season for the Patrol 7 Group! The season saw Kerry Prior recover from his knee
operation. Lots of awards gained by our Patrol through the season. No major incidents to
report, which means we are patrolling well.
Very nice seeing our youth coming through and gaining awards and competing so well at
club champs day.
Not sure what our patrol will look like next season, with Micaela Prior off to University, India
off into the Army, the Logan boys completing grade 12.
Thanks to all on Patrol 7 for a very enjoyable season
Guy Tanner
Patrol 8
My how times are a changing, I've been reflecting on our extraordinary patrol group,
trying to find the words on how best to descried how blessed I feel to be part of
Patrol No.8.
From the first day I joined after completing my bronze, exactly the same as all of you,
wide eyed, bushie tailed and a little bit tentative I knew this is where it was at, since
then I've watched the patrol grow from 3-4 members and at times other members
volunteering just to make up the 3 members, to a patrol the size of a small village,
and what a special group of people our little village contains, from all walks of life yet
with a common goal, looking after the beach goes and having a great time doing it,
enjoying what the beach has to offer as well as each other's company, it not hard to
realise why we've won the "Spirit Patrol" award a couple times now.
This season has seen our numbers grow to even more, but it's not just the numbers
(we're regularly filling the patrol attendance book now) that set us aside, it's being
part of a very unique, magnificent group of people, who display a willingness to want
to get to know each other, build new friendships and a place where old friendships
grow even stronger, that's what sets us aside.
This has been a one season to remember, good surf, great weather, no storms to
ripping the beach apart, plenty of time to enjoy all the facilities, I especially enjoyed
watching the younger members spend countless hours in the water, at times when
conditions are right, only coming out to eat, and boy, do they eat, but not having fun,
oh no, up skilling at all times, but seriously, every single member has my upmost
confidence that if asked, they could perform their duties to the highest standard.
A big thank you to all the members of patrol 8, with all your skills, knowledge and a
willingness to be part of a great team, a patrol captain couldn't ask
for anything more, it's a privilege to be the leader of such a fine
group of people. Thanks for yet again, for another fantastic
season.
Cheers
Dean Hore

Youth Development Officer
Wow! How excited I am to be writing this report about the season gone, firstly I have to
say thank you for the opportunity to work with the most awesome bunch of 78 young
people, our Mudjimba Youth ageing from under 14's SRC Cadets through to so many of
our under 25 Bronzies.
So what did we do:
We started the year in July or was that the finish I don't know (my first event) with a
table of ten gorgeous looking youth from Mudjimba representing us at the Sunshine
coast Youth Ball.
August was our first youth meeting and the first of seeing what an amazing crew we
have! The fund-raising started, we did water safety for external competitions, Tri
Events, sausage sizzles, and anything else we could think of. A massive thanks to all
those SRC's, Bronzies Youth and the Senior members who carted them all over the
place to make it all so successful.
We kicked off with an amazing Rainbow Camp that meant we had 16 new SRC and 5
new Bronzies.
Pizza & Games Night full of fun and friends. Special Guest Speaker Natalie Cook, Rachel
Cross, Aly and Blair Day came to inspire us, inform and educate us.
We had our Christmas party at the Aqua Fun Park a great time had by all.
Then we organised a Red Faces night, thanks to our awesome club captain Pete.
We had 3 different camps, Keely and Coppo went to the Junior State Leadership Camp
leadership camp and we had 12 go to Branch Camp and the Apex Camp.
Many of our crew used their Bronze skills and training to get jobs doing water safety at
the Aqua Fun Parks, well done guys.
Most importantly watch this space we have the leaders of the future, they are
AWESOME!
We are in for a REALLY BIG new season, YIPS program, camps, training and most
importantly have fun while keeping the beach safe in 2015!
