2016 Spring Ed. - International Franchise Expo
2016 Spring Ed. OUR STORY In 2007, two enterprising women, who were determined to help rebuild their Hurricane Katrina devastated community, developed a business idea known as Corks-N- Canvas. The concept paired instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor ... in other words, “painting with a twist” which later became the company’s tag line. The founders, Cathy Deano and Reneé Maloney, soon learned how much their participants loved to produce individual works of art in a casual, comfortable studio environment. Their market quickly broadened and attracted a much wider customer base. Soon after opening the first few studios, the Painting with a Twist® experience gained more popularity with wine sippers and people looking for weekend fun. Quickly they expanded into kids’ classes, “Coffee & Canvas” classes, corporate team building events, private parties, and off-site events. In 2009, from four Corks-N-Canvas locations in the greater New Orleans area, the company began franchising the business as Painting with a Twist. Now, as the largest franchisor in the Paint and Sip category, Painting with a Twist currently supports over 280 franchise locations in 35 states from its headquarters in Mandeville, Louisiana. around the country. A FEW WORDS FROM OUR FRANCHISEES “I believe this franchise/franchisor partnership is unique in two ways: 1) The level of involvement of the founders; 2) The founders’ ethics and true concern for the franchisees.” Jenny Muller Franchise Partner "I heard about Painting with a Twist while watching Fox News. My husband and I both have law enforcement and military backgrounds. I wanted us to change gears and work in something fun and artistic, so Painting with a Twist seemed perfect for us. We are both so excited to be part of the PWAT family and begin this new adventure." “Painting with a Twist is everything that a franchise should be. As a practicing physician, I opened my first studio as an entrepreneurial and creative outlet. With the opening of my second studio, I stepped away from medicine and became a small business owner.
