THE HYMN OF THANKSGIVING:
I Sing the Mighty Power of God
1) I sing the mighty power of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.
2) I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them
good. Lord, how your wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.
3) There’s not a plant or flower below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God art present there.

Assessment Collection
Was Due September 8, 2013
Our goal of $40,741.56 was due on September 8, 2013. So far this
year we have raised only $27,919.83 toward that goal.
Because we have not met our goal in several years and have a
shortfall of $12,821.74 this year, we really need your help to
retire this debt. If everyone who reads this takes an active part in
our parish responsibility there’s no limit to what we can do! As
always, thank you and God Bless!

The Pastor’s Message
“Laudetur Jesus Christus!”
(Praised be Jesus Christ!)
As we enter the last four weeks of the Church’s
Liturgical year and our thoughts turn to the Four
Last Things (Death, Judgment, Heaven, Hell) we
had a wonderful example this week of a new
beginning.
On Monday, Oct 28th we were privileged to have the
groundbreaking ceremony and blessing of the
construction site for the new school wing.
It was a joyous and upbeat occasion as river stones
with the names of students, alumni, and prayers
were blessed by the Rev. Msgr. Mauricio West,
Vicar General of the Diocese of Charlotte. The
stones were then dedicated by Principal Telford and
mixed into the foundation of the building site.
The construction site was then sprinkled with holy
water and blessed. Finally, Msgr. West, Principal
Telford, our Student Body President, Francis
Byungura, and myself each “broke ground” by
digging out a shovelful of dirt.
I want to thank Msgr. West and all our guests for
honoring us with their presence. I’d also like to
thank our teachers, faculty and staff as well as our
students for being here for this historic and
important date in our parish history.
Finally, to all those who helped put the
groundbreaking ceremony together especially Mr.
Jeff Smith, Ms. Allison Gregg, Mr. Andrew
O’Connor, Mrs. Karen Hornfeck, the Knights of
Columbus, the Parish Council, the OLG School
Board, the Women’s Club, a very heartfelt thank
you for making the day truly inspirational and
uplifting.
May we continue to build not only a beautiful edifice
to God here on earth, but in our hearts in Heaven,
too! Our Lady of Grace, pray for us!
Oremus pro invicem,
Rev. Fr. Eric L. Kowalski

12th Annual OLG
Thanksgiving Baskets Program
OLG will once again support the efforts of several local agencies and
organizations that provide for the needy in our community. We are
gathering food for 100+ families this Thanksgiving and we cannot
undertake this effort without your support. We would like for the leaders of
each of our parish groups and ministries to help provide the items listed
below. If your ministry is not listed, please send in any of the options. We
will also need monetary donations to help offset the cost of the
turkeys and any shortfalls that we have in canned goods.
Please place your donated items in the back of the church by the Pieta Statue across from the
Baptistry. If you choose to make a financial donation, please place it in the offertory basket or drop
it by the church office. Be sure to mark the check for Thanksgiving Baskets Program. Donations are
needed no later than Sunday evening, November 24th, 2013.
Thank you in advance for your help!

The Angel Trees are here. Please help us to
make this a special Christmas for all of our Angel Tree
children and families. Your generosity can make a huge
difference in the life of a child. The process is very easy,
just follow the steps below:
1. Select a card from the tree.
2. Provide your name and phone number to one of the
volunteers.
3. Go shopping:
Use the wish list as a guide or select other age
appropriate gifts. Remember, this will be the only
gifts these children or family receive, please be
as generous as possible.
4. Attached the card to your gifts.
5. Return the gifts to church on the weekend of
November 16 & 17 or to the church office by
Tuesday, November 19.
If you have any questions, please
call Julie Justice at 708-1131.
Christmas on
Campus is
Coming!
On December 19th from
5:30 to 8 p.m., OLG's
campus will once again be
turned into a Christmas
wonderland as we
celebrate the sights,
sounds and tastes of this beautiful
season! Join us for caroling, children's
activities, a live nativity and more! Admission
is free with the donation of a canned food for
Greensboro Urban Ministry or a toiletry item
for Greensboro Women's Shelter.
All are welcome, so bring a friend!
We have three Special
ANGEL TREE Requests:
1. An Angel Tree Family with two young girls has
requested a Barbie Jeep that they can ride. It is the
only item they put on their wish list, but it costs
around $250 or more. “The girls have really wanted
a Barbie Jeep for years now. It’s all they talk about.
We would be really blessed if this would be possible.”
2. Another Angel Tree Family has requested a $350
Visa Card to pay their house taxes. They are behind
in the tax payment and need help to keep the roof
over their head.
3. A third Angel Tree Family recently had a truck
donated to them (their previous mode of
transportation was by moped). They are hoping
someone will be able to give them a $300 Visa Card
for the down payment for car Insurance.
Again, call Julie Justice at 708-1131
if you can help. Thank you.

BUNCO!
As previously announced in the bulletin, the Sunday 5:00 PM
Mass has become a weekly bi-lingual Mass in English and
Spanish. This Mass is on an “ad experimentum” basis and will be
reviewed in 3 months to determine whether it will continue or not.
WHAT IS A “BI-LINGUAL” MASS? A bi-lingual Mass is a Mass
during which various parts of the Mass are prayed in two different
languages, in this case English and Spanish. This doesn’t mean
that those parts of the Mass are repeated first in one language and
then in the second language. What it does mean is that certain
parts of the Mass will be prayed in one language, and other parts
in the second language. (For instance, the Lord have Mercy may
be in Spanish, while the Gloria may be in English). The Sunday
5PM Mass will not be entirely in Spanish, but rather a mixture
of BOTH English and Spanish.

Dedication & Groundbreaking Ceremony
for the New OLG School Building!
On October 28th, the OLG parish community gathered to dedicate our new school building and
to break ground on this important new endeavor.
What a beautiful morning it was, thanks to so many! We especially want to thank Monsignor
Mauricio West and Kathleen Miller from the Diocese of Charlotte, both of whom travelled from
Charlotte for the morning.
We also want to thank the OLG Women's Club who provided a wonderful reception full of
delicious breakfast treats for our guests. The Knights of Columbus, the Parish Council, the
Parish Council Emertius, the OLG School Board, the OLG School Student Council and many
other special guests also made the morning very memorable.
On behalf of the school, we want to thank everyone who has contributed in time, talent,
resources and prayer over the years to make this new school possible.
We are truly blessed!
