Hallo Laserdisc- und DVDFans,
liebe Filmfreunde!
Wer bislang geglaubt hat, dass es
sich bei Ihrem geschätzten LASER
HOTLINE Team um unzerstörbare
Arbeitsroboter handelt, den dürfen
wir jetzt mal wieder eines Besseren belehren: unsere Kolumnistin
Anna muss zur Zeit leider das Bett
hüten. Somit müssen unsere Leser
in dieser Ausgabe auf Annas Gespräch mit Hollywood verzichten.
Denn mit Fieber im Körper
schreibt es sich bekanntlich relativ
schlecht. Wir wünschen ihr von
dieser Stelle aus alles Gute und
alsbaldige Genesung. Als kleinen
Trost für alle Kolumnenfans haben
wir uns aber ein “Special” einfallen
lassen, das sich natürlich längst
nicht so spannend liest wie Annas
kleine Geschichten, dafür aber
umso mehr Appetit macht auf ein
Ereignis, das im Oktober von sich
Reden machen wird. Dann wird es

“Alien”-Filme wurden für die heiß ersehnte HD-Edition aufwändig in Bild
und Ton überarbeitet. Das 6-Disc-Set
enthält neben den legendären Sci-FiKlassikern mehr als 60 Stunden teils
unveröffentlichtes Bonusmaterial – ein

stattet FOX die “Alien Anthology” mit
einer neuen interaktiven Technik aus:

Deutschland in zwei Editionen veröffentlichen. Als Leckerbissen für alle
“Alien”-Fans und Sammler erscheint
die “Alien Anthology” als Limited“Egg”-Edition auf 6 Blu-rays und 4
DVDs, davon 2 BDs randgefüllt mit
Bonusmaterial. Die bereits auf der
“Alien-Saga” veröffentlichten DVDs
dienen als Zugabe und machen das
“Egg” auch für alle Fans interessant,
die noch keinen Blu-ray Player besitzen. Und der Clou dabei: das “Egg”
kann sowohl Weltall als auch Wohnzimmer per Batterie zum Leuchten bringen. Die “Facehugger”-Edition erscheint als Digipack mit 6 Blu-rays. Nur

Zusätzlich zu den insgesamt über
zwölfstündigen Dokumentationen des
Sets ermöglicht Disc 5 den Fans noch
tiefer in die Geschichte der “Alien
Anthology” einzusteigen: mit den Video Enhancement Pods, die exklusiv
für dieses Blu ray-Set hergestellt wurden. Die Pods sind Filmbeiträge, wie
Hinter-den-Kulissen-Dokus oder unbearbeitete Outtakes aus Arbeitskopien
und Interviews aus allen vier Filmen.
Die Fans können einen Pod direkt beim
Ansehen einer Dokumentation anwählen, um mehr zu einem bestimmten
Aspekt zu erfahren. Die Pods können

extrem schwierigen Vorbereitungen
für eine Bach-Einspielung mit dem
Starpianisten Pierre-Laurent
Aimard dienen dabei als roter Faden und sorgen so für die notwendige Spannung im Film. Auch für
Nicht-Piano-Kenner hat die Dokumentation viel zu bieten, lässt sie
die komplizierten technischen Details außen vor und konzentriert
stattdessen auf die Beobachtung
des Technikers und den Künstlern
bei deren Versuch, das Optimale
aus den Musikinstrumenten zu zaubern. “Auf der Suche nach dem
perfekten Klang” lautet die zweite
Zeile des Filmtitels und erinnerte
mich an meine ganz persönliche
Suche nach dem perfekten Klang
im Kinosaal. Doch letztendlich lässt
sich dieser Perfektionismus auch
auf ganz andere Themenbereiche
übertragen und macht
PIANOMANIA damit universell
erlebbar. Übrigens: nicht weniger
perfektionistisch gestalteten die
Filmemacher die Tonspur des Films,

Sozialstudie und Traumwelten
Nirgendwo sonst prallen die Gegensätze so krass aufeinander wie
beim Double Feature im Kino! Für
mich gab es heute einen schönen
Auftakt für ereignisreiche Pressewoche.

Die 15jährige Mia hat es nicht
leicht. Zusammen mit ihrer Mutter
und ihrer kleinen Schwester haust
sie in einer Sozialwohnung in einer
typisch heruntergekommenen englischen Stadt. Seit ihre Mutter einen
neuen Lover hat, geht ihr alles noch
mehr auf den Keks. Einordnen oder
gar unterordnen kommt für sie gar
nicht in Frage. Da bricht sie lieber
mit ihrer besten Freundin. Ihre große Leidenschaft ist der Tanz. Als
sich die Chance für eine Audition
auftut und sie sich plötzlich zum
Lover ihrer Mutter hingezogen
fühlt, gerät ihre Welt vollends aus
den Fugen... Was bei dieser britischen Sozialstudie wirklich überzeugt, ist ihre Hauptdarstellerin
Katie Jarvis, die in ihrer Rolle vollkommen aufgeht. Die Geschichte
selbst hat nicht viel Neues zu bieten, hat man es so oder in ähnlicher
Form schon so häufig gesehen.
Was den Film aber dennoch von
anderen Filme abhebt ist das ungewöhnliche Bildformat, in dem Andrea Arnold ihren Film hat aufnehmen lassen. Es handelt sich um
echtes TV-Format – also kein
Breitwand mit 1:1.85 oder gar
CinemaScope mit 1:2.35. Gleiches
gilt für die Tonspur, die mehr Mono
als Stereo zu bieten hat. Man kann
nur darüber spekulieren, warum
eine Filmemacherin für die Kinoleinwand im Fernsehformat produziert. Möglicherweise wollte sie
damit die Enge der Umgebung, in
der Mia aufwächst, spürbar machen. Und möglicherweise ist ihr
das damit sogar gelungen.

nennt sich “Inception” und ist hochgradig gefährlich, da dabei auch
deren Unterbewusstsein in den
Traum eingreift und ein Eigenleben
entwickelt... Was MATRIX für die
neunziger Jahre war, das dürfte
INCEPTION für das erste Jahrzehnt des neuen Jahrhunderts werden. Regisseur Christopher Nolan
beweist nach DARK KNIGHT
aufs Neue, dass er einer der
visuellsten Filmemacher der Gegenwart ist. Die Bilder seines Chefkameramanns Wally Pfizer entfalten eine faszinierende Sogwirkung,
je weiter und tiefer der Zuschauer
in die Traumwelten eindringt. Unterstützt wird dieses Gefühl natürlich auch von den bahnbrechenden

Spezialeffekten, mit denen der Film
aufwartet. Trotz des komplexen
Stoffes, der den Zuschauer zum
Mitdenken zwingt, gelingt es dem
Regisseur, den Film von Anfang bis
Ende spannend zu inszenieren und
die Waage zwischen Anspruch und
Action zu halten. Erwähnenswert
ist auch die Musik von Hans Zimmer, dessen Score in diesem Film
optimal platziert ist (und mich
passagenweise einmal mehr an die
Kompositionen von John Barry erinnerte). Ganz wichtig:
INCEPTION, den Blockbuster für
Anspruchsvolle, sollte man unbedingt in einem bild- und tontechnisch guten Kino anschauen.

Realverfilmung einer bereits als
Animationsserie erschienen Vorlage, in der es um die vier Elemente
Erde, Wasser, Luft und Feuer geht.
Für jedes der vier Elemente gibt es
eine spezielle Nation, die nur durch
sie gebändigt werden kann. Im
Gleichgewicht gehalten werden alle
Elemente von einem Avatar, der
alle vier Elemente beherrscht.
Doch schon seit einem Jahrhundert
führt die Feuernation einen
schrecklichen Krieg gegen die anderen drei Nationen. Da wird der
Avatar wiedergeboren und nimmt
mit seinen Gefährten den Kampf
auf... Der mit Abstand schwächste

Film im Portfolio von M. Night
Shyamalan, der mit THE SIXTH
SENSE seinen atemberaubenden
Einstand gab und zuletzt mit THE
HAPPENING restlos enttäuschte.
DIE LEGENDE VON AANG ist
der erste Teil eines als Trilogie konzipierten Fantasy-Epos, bei dem
wieder einmal die Spezialeffekte
die Geschichte komplett dominieren
und dadurch vollkommen
unattraktiv werden lässt. Selbst die
Charaktere verblassen angesichts
der überbordenden Effekte, zumal
sich der Regisseur und Drehbuchautor überhaupt keine Mühe gemacht hat, diese Charaktere mit
richtigem Leben zu füllen. Da wird
dann dem Publikum eine Liebesgeschichte einfach so vor die Füße
geknallt, ohne sie von Grund auf
aufzubauen und damit nachvollziehbar zu machen. Doch nicht nur die
Charaktere besitzen keine Tiefe,
sogar die 3D-Technik kommt ohne
Tiefenwirkung. Dass der Film erst
im Nachhinein auf 3D aufgepäppelt
wurde, bekommt ihm gar nicht gut
und führt sogar zu erheblichen Bildunschärfen bei schnellen Bewegungen. Einzig die Musik von James
Newton Howard (wie immer mit
großem Orchester und Chor) und
der extrem dynamische 5.1 Sound
haben mich hier überzeugt. Aber
vermutlich sind diese beiden Elemente nur deshalb so gut, damit die
vielen schlechten Elemente weniger
auffallen.

Unterwegs lauern viele Gefahren...
Düster, farbreduziert, dreckig – so
wurde uns das dunkle Mittelalter
inzwischen schon durch zahlreiche
Historienfilme vermittelt. Damit hat
der in Sachsen-Anhalt entstandene
Film zumindest optisch nichts Aufsehenerregendes zu bieten. Auch
der Kampf von Gottesanhänger gegen Ungläubige ist nicht neu. Und
schon gar nicht der innere Zweifel,
der den jungen Mönch, der selbst
schon gesündigt hat, zerreisst. Alles
in allem also einfach nur eine
Routineübung? Nein, nicht ganz.
Denn wäre der Regisseur kein Geringerer als Horror-Experte Christopher Smith (SEVERANCE,
CREEP), dann würde es im Film
sicherlich nicht so viele explizite
Gewalt- und Greueltatendarstellungen geben. Da wird gehackt, gestochen und gevierteilt,
dass das Blut nur so spritzt. Und
ganz am Ende des Films gibt es
dann noch eine Lektion darüber,
wie aus Gottestreuen Hexenjäger
werden. BLACK DEATH wird
vorab auf dem Fantasy Filmfest
2010 zu sehen sein.

Mousse und ihr Freund Louis hängen an der Nadel. Als Louis an einer Überdosis unreinen Heroins
stirbt, wird Mousse ins Krankenhaus eingeliefert und muss erfahren, dass sie schwanger ist. Obgleich die Familie des Verstorbenen
ihr einreden möchte, das Kind abzutreiben, entscheidet sich Mousse
genau für das Gegenteil... Relativ
unspannend und dadurch gefühlt zu
lange inszenierte François Ozon
seinen neuesten Film, der sich auch
sehr “arthausmäßig” gibt. Immerhin
gibt es gute Darsteller (insbesondere Isabelle Carré in der Rolle der
Mousse), doch das ist mir persönlich zu wenig. Ozon war schon besser.
weniger Tage während der Fastenzeit. Dabei erscheinen jedoch genau diese wiederkehrenden Kreuzungspunkte als sehr künstlich und
gewollt, was dem Film ziemlich an
Authentizität nimmt. Nicht jeder
kann eben ein Kunstwerk wie
MAGNOLIA entwerfen. Tröstlich
bei der ganzen Sache ist das
Darstellerensemble, das seine Rollen wirklich ausfüllen kann, und
auch die Kameraarbeit, die Berlin
in ein kaltes, unwirtliches Licht
rückt.

Drei junge Muslime in Deutschland
– drei Schicksale, geprägt durch die
strenge Religion. Da gibt es
Maryam, die sich heimlich einer
Abtreibung unterzogen hat und jetzt
mit gesundheitlichen Problemen zu
kämpfen hat. Und der dunkelhäutige Samir muss mit seiner versteckten Homosexualität fertig werden,
was umso schwieriger ist weil er
sich gerade eben in seinen Kollegen
verliebt hat. Und zu guter Letzt ist
da noch der türkischstämmige Polizist Ismail, dessen Kugel ein
ungeborenes Kind tötete und der
sich seither in Schuld zu jener Bosnierin hingezogen fühlt, der er soviel Leid bereitet hat. Burhan
Qurbanis Film verfolgt die drei
Protagonisten, deren Geschichten
sich mehrfach kreuzen, innerhalb
Super-Bösewicht Gru möchte der
Beste seines Faches sein. Als er
plötzlich Konkurrenz durch einen
Jungspund bekommt, der die Cheops-Pyramide geklaut hat, reift ihn
ein genialer Master-Plan: Er will
den Mond stehlen! Das Ziel ist zum
Greifen nah. Doch es fehlt ihm
noch die dafür erforderliche
Schrumpfungskanone. Und die befindet sich ausgerechnet im Besitz
seines Konkurrenten. Dessen Domizil gleicht einer Festung. Da hat
er eine brillante Idee, bei der ihm
drei kleine Waisenmädchen helfen
sollen, die er schnurstracks adoptiert – ohne die Folgen zu bedenken... Ein richtig witziger
computeranimierter Filmspaß für
jung und alt und groß und klein!
Und ein Beweis dafür, dass es nicht
LASER HOTLINE
immer nur Pixar sein muss. Persönlich gefielen mir jene kleinen Helfer
des Oberschurken am besten, die
sich mit boshaften kleinen Späßen
gegenseitig selbst in die Pfanne
hauen und mit Sicherheit von den
“Gremlins” inspiriert wurden. Einfach herrlich! Da muss man sich
dann nicht wundern, wenn hinterher
alle Kinder so einen kleinen “Minion” mit nach Hause nehmen möchten. Unbedingt anschauen.

Seit ihrer Kindheit sind Tommy und
Sule beste Freunde. Als Jugendliche halten sie sich mit Drogendeals
über Wasser. Da erwischt es
Tommy und er wandert für sechs
Monate in den Knast. Nach seiner
Entlassung will seine Freundin
nichts mehr von ihm wissen. Nur
Sule und die anderen Kumpels haben sich nicht verändert. Doch
Tommy möchte aus der
Perspektivlosigkeit ausbrechen und
muss erfahren, dass ihn einer seiner Kumpels verpfiffen hat... Oliver Kienle gibt mit seinem Film
über Freundschaft und Verrat im
Rapper-Milieu ein höchst beachtliches Debüt. Nicht nur überzeugt
die Bild- und Tongestaltung in jeder
Hinsicht, auch erscheint sein Drehbuch genauso authentisch wie seine
Darsteller. Auch wenn der Film
zum Ende hin etwas lang geraten
ist, vermag dies den überwiegend
positiven Eindruck nicht zu schmälern. Ein harter, aber sehenswerter
Film.
