Built in an amphitheatre style, Afissos is a coastal village and is one of the prettiest
in the whole Pelion region. It is picturesque and alive with activity and colour along
its harbour seafront with many tavernas and bars. In the shady village square water springs from the same fountain which, according to the legend, the Argonauts
stocked up with water before their epic adventure to find the Golden Fleece.
Afissos is surrounded by three wonderful beaches of Kalifteri, Lagoudi and beautiful Abovos.
Surrounded by the beauty of the Pagasitikos Gulf and Mount Pelion (said to be the
summer residence of the Gods of Olympus) Afissos is an ideal base for trips to
the Mount Pelion Villages … you can see why people don’t just come here for the
sailing.
IFDS International ‘Challenger’
Multihull Championship 2007
The Argonautical Park in cooperation with the Maistrali Sailing Club organised with great success the IFDS IMC 2007
multi hull championship. More than 250 volunteers from all over the world took part in the largest Sailability event in
Greece, second only to the Paralympics of Athens 2004.

Dear Sotirios
I cannot express in words my appreciation for the wonderful job you did in preparation and during the regatta. I feel
it was little short of miraculous. I am aware of the many difficulties you had to overcome to create the building and
to get it completed in time for the event. I am very proud to have been the first official user of the lift. You appear to
have thought of everything and I would find it difficult to think of better designed building for a disabled sailing event
any where in the world.
I am not sure exactly who did what but everything worked extremely well whether it was the ceremonies, the volunteers and in the end the race officials.
However the thing we will always remember, without exception, was the commitment, the enthusiasm and the kindness that we were shown by everyone. I have never been to a regatta where there was such a pleasant atmosphere
and I did not hear any criticisms or complaints from anyone. That must be a record.
Please convey our deepest gratitude to all those who helped to provide an event that will be remembered by all those
who were involved for the rest of their lives.
I do wish you all every success at the Argonautical Park and Maistrali sailing club.

underwater with one of the Argonautical Park’s diving programs and play with specialised water and wind toys.

8. Sport House: At Argonautical Parks’ sport house reception is operating where you can find information for the programs, or
relax at the jacuzzi and the hamam (turkish bath) or enjoy a therapeutical massage. At the Kitchen Bar you will find a unique gastronomy experience.
9. Argonautical Market: At the Argonautical Park there is a Market where you can find anything you may need for the beach:

11. Afternoons and Fun: After an active day in the water, there is place for fun in the afternoon. There will be some lectures
so you can fill in the blanks you may have from your morning activities. Your participation depends on the notes of your instructors.

barbeques and concerts.

It is not a coincidence that the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and
the Hellenic Paralympic committee (HPC) have chosen Argonautical
Park to host the International Multihull Championship for disable sailors
which was a great success in 1-9 June 2007

Learning to sail is great fun and it will introduce you or your family to a wide range of new and
exciting outdoor activities from leisure sailing on a sunny afternoon to high performance dinghy or catamaran racing or maybe heading out to sea in an ocean-going yacht. All is possible
once you have made a start and put your toe in the water!

The Argonautical Park offers a great variety of sailing activities
for individual visitors, couples and families. They come in the
form of courses, personal training, membership card or just
renting a boat.
Go Sailing
All visitors of the club that become members of the Argonautical Club are offered a free one hour introductory “on the water”
programme. This gives the opportunity to newcomers to get
a feel for sailing. In a relaxed way emphasis is given to the
foundamentals of sailing including basic terminology, safety
procedures, points of sail and boat handling and how to learn
more. With the ARYA method even newcomers will be able
to safely and effectively handle a boat on their own within 15
minutes.
All ARYA programmes are available and as soon as you
accomplish a certification for a certain skill level you rent a
boat in the Argonautaical Park or any other centre that runs
a similar certification scheme.
Optimist Sailing Camp (7-9 χρονών)
It is a very popular and successful programme of weekly duration for 7-9 year old children. It is organized so that you can
enroll for as many weeks as you wish. For the programme
we use our optimist fleet which is specifically designed and
built to the requirements of this age group. It is an ideal introductory boat for one or two children. It offers a stable and safe
platform for the discovery of sailing. The programme combines water and shore based activities targeted to groups and
paves the way to ARYA 1 & 2.
ARYA Junior Sail Training Programmes
ARYA 1 (level 1 ages 10-17)
Dinghy Ι: Sail alone. Enjoy the challenge of mastering boats
It is a programme designed for beginner and novice sailors of
age 10-17 using Laser Pico Dinghies. The programme develops sailing skills as well as knowledge of knots and terminology.
Participants sail in wind up to 9 knots to learn handling, how
to prepare and put a boat in the water. Also they sail a triangular course, approach a mooring side-to, recover a man
over board and return safely to shore.
Dinghy ΙΙ: Sail with company, learn how to wander the sea in
ARYA 2 (level 2 ages 10-17)
Windsurf: Learn the art to plane with the most popular “wind
toy”. Absolute freedom, speed and adrenalin.

It is a programme aimed to perfect the basic skills acquired in
ARYA 1 and take them a step further.
Upon completion of ARYA 1&2 you will have acquired the
foundamental sailing skills and be ready to go on to more
specialized programmes by boat class. These address sail
trimming, advanced sailing theory, boat maintenance, use
of a spinnaker and trapeze, and introduction to racing.

ARYA Adult Programmes
ARYA 12 (for Adults)
This “on the water” programme comprises 24 total hours according to internationally accepted standards. A large variety
of single and multi crew dinghies and multihulls is used. This
is ideal for any beginner or novice sailor that wishes to be introduced to small boats. You may take the programme at your
own pace up to level ARYA-2 or further. Training includes terminology, knots, handling and sailing maneuvers, mooring,
maintenance, recovering man overboard and self rescuing
techniques. Upon completion of the programme you will be
able to handle small sailing boats in moderate wind and sea
conditions.
Enrollment includes an ARYA membership card and privileges in the Argonautical Park. After completing ARYA 12 you
may continue with Day Sailing and you may take to sea any of
the boats of the Park.
ARYA-3
(level 3 for ages 10-17)
This programme is aimed at advanced sailors to further develop skills acquired in ARYA-2. It is mainly focused on racing
techniques and issues.
MSC ARYA-3 Racing
The sailors that enroll in the MSC JRT will have the desire to
focus on their advanced sailing and racing skills. The are entitled to participate in any and all races organized by the Park.
The participants may use their own boat or rent one from the
Park. Transportation, and accommodation are extra but members are entitled to a discount on race fees are. Parents and
escorting adults may, if they wish, participate in the organization and running of the events to acquire a better knowledge
of the sport.
AR-E Day Sailing
Basic Yacht Skills
This “on the water” Programme comprises 24 hourd of training
based on internationally accepted standards. Training is carried
out on yachts provided by the Argonautical Parc or on your own
yacht. Ideal for beginner and novice sailors as well as sailors
that have completed ARYA 12. The skills you acquire will allow
you to plan and safely undertake a daily excursion as a skipper or crew on a a boat up to 10 metres.
ARYA Skipper Certificate
This programme is targeted to sailors that have completed
AR-E or have equivalent experience (preferably certified). The
programme will be based on five days of sailing in Pagasitikos
Gulf either during the week or over two weekends. It addresses issues such as sail choice, boat handling, safety and risk
management, yacht systems and maintenance, navication,
weather and preparation to sail
Family
The Family program is addressed to families or couples that wish to spend their vacations in a
dynamic environment, full of energy and activities that have as a main theme the Wind and the
Sea. Sailing games from all the World and specialised instructors manage four Clubs of children
allowing the parents to enjoy their own activities: Accompanied sailaways with sailing boats visiting magnificent beaches, relaxation and fun games for all ages.
CHILDREN CLUBS
Clubs provide a safe environment for children appropriate for
their age. Children can enjoy fun and learning activities, read a
sailing books from our library, while their parents can go on with
their own activities without worrying.
Club Crab (4-23 months)
In club crab children are watched in a safe environment by specialized personnel so parents can enjoy their activities.
Club Octopus (2-4 years)
In club Octopus children enjoy group games and art activities
attended by a gymnastics teacher.
Club Dolphin (5-7 years)
In club Dolphin children are introduced to sailing through games,
trivia, RC lasers and constructing their own toy optimist using a
kit designed by us.
Club Swordfish 8-12 years
In club Swordfish children get their first taste of actual sailing in
optimists under the attendance of our certified instructors.
At the special formed divisions of the Argonautical Park are included:
Workshop of micro-constructions, painting, group table-activities, and movies section presenting sailing races the world
of sea and wind. Children are being taught basic rules of sailing and security at the sea, environmental awareness, sailing
library and sailing software (Virtual Skipper/games etc. Also simulators, knots and ropes, which little sailors try and use.

CORPORATE TEAMBUILDING AND EVENTS
Whether you are entertaining clients or looking to train and motivate your staff, the Argonautical
Park can organise a professional, fun and memorable experience for everyone.
Corporate events are three day events that we organize as sailing ‘cups’ for the personnel of
companies, their families and friends. The event has the goal to introduce the participants to
sailing along with a pleasant trip. Through sailing, teambuilding is achieved by several groups of
the company that will handle a common project or that will work cooperatively on the company’s
development project.

Our sailing tuition program is addressed to those with no sailing experience as well as those
who want to perfect their skills. It is divided in two weekly periods leading to the acquisition of
a Greek sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Coastal Skipper (non tidal). Participants will sail for
at least 4 hours a day, 5 days in each weekly period. This gives the opportunity of significant
hands on experience for each student. There will also be at least 4 night hours for the first
period and 8 for the second.

DINGHY INSTRUCTOR’S TUITION
From March 2008 the Argonautical Academy will organise 10 day training seminars for windsurf, kite and dinghy instructors, based on the German VDWS system and the Greek system
(separately).
HOW CAN I BECOME AN ARYA INSTRUCTOR?
If you are already a sailor and you wish to pass your knowledge to others through ARYA
educational system you can simply fill our question form to be accepted in our 15 days
instructors seminars which take place at Argonautical Park all year long. In order to participate in the seminars your sailing skills must be in the level of handling a dinghy ( 360 and
driving without tiller), you must have speed boat driving licence and a certificate on first aid.
