Volunteers Needed
The DL Chamber is busy with fundraisers, community events and
member activities. We need your help to make it all happen! Here are a
few upcoming opportunities:
Ambassadors: The DL Chamber Ambassadors meet the 1st Wed. of
each month to visit new businesses, meet new owners and
congratulate our members on business improvements. PLUS they help
with ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking ceremonies. We would like to
add a few more team members!
Arts & Crafts in Park: On Sunday, July 24, we will host this 38th
Annual fundraiser! We are looking for volunteers to assist throughout the day. From set-up and
tear-down to information booth, help is needed to make this a fun event! If you would like volunteer for a
2-hour shift let us know!
WE Fest Shuttle & Information Booth: August 4-6 we need approximately 50 volunteers to help us sell
tickets for the shuttle bus (ticket booths at Fairgrounds and Downtown DL) OR work the information/lost
& found booth in the concert bowl. Volunteers can earn free tickets to WE Fest or Gift Cards to
Cinemagic Theatres! (Volunteers must be responsible adults able to work with the public and money.)
Crazy Daze, Light Up the Lakes and more: The DL Chamber’s Promotions & Events Committee (P & E) is
looking to add more volunteers to assist with their many events! Help with planning through out the year,
or volunteer a few hours at your favorite event… all are welcome!
Volunteering is a great way to get your business and your staff connected to the community.
It provides an excellent opportunity to meet new people and perhaps your next best client!
At the DL Chamber, we love our Volunteers!

Congratulations to Michael Norby, co-owner of Norby’s Department

Retail Federation. Norby is one of only 41 small business retailers to be
named as a 2016 Champion. MN Retailer’s Assoc. President says,
“Michael’s hands-on philosophy show in how he communicates with local,
state and national elected officials on matters that not only impact his
store, but also the stores around him and across the state. He brings a
vital family-owned, community perspective to the voice of retail.”

Boat Races and Show
The second annual Detroit

Show will be held Saturday,
June 18 from noon-4 pm in the
parking lot by the Holiday Inn. If
you’d like to treat Dad on
Father’s Day or are looking for
something free and fun for the
family, the powerboat races will
be underway at the same time.
This year’s tenth annual event is
named in honor of Jerry Simison, who lived in Detroit Lakes
and, with his crew, earned more
than 30 national and world powerboat racing championships.
The Jerry Simison Memorial
Quake the Lake X Powerboat
Races will be held Saturday and
Sunday, June 18-19 on Big
Detroit Lake by the Holiday Inn
starting at 1 pm. Both events
are free to the public. Contact
the Chamber if you have a boat
