In honor of the 201st Anniversary of the Mexican Independence,
the Consulate of Mexico and the Detroit Public Library cordially
invite you to celebrate
“El Blanco Licor de la diosa Mayahuel”
(The White Liquor of Goddess Mayayuel)
Come enjoy a striking display that belongs to Archivo Casasola,
the most important photo archive in Mexico and the source of
incredible pictures that show the daily life of Mexico's population
at the end of the 19th century and early 20th century, the pulque
consumption, and workers in agave plantations.
This inspiring exhibit will be accompanied by a photography
collection that reveals a small piece of the rich culture
formed by Mexican cuisine titled:
“De la cocina al Ojo”
(A Glimpse into the Kitchen)
The exposition will be on display
throughout the month of September
at the Library’s Skillman Branch
