How it Works
GO Switch 10 Series side sensing
switches use two permanent
magnets and a ferrous armature to
control a set of mechanical contacts. One magnet is positioned
closer to the armature, creating a
dominant magnetic flux field on the
sensing side of the switch. As a
result, the armature rests in its
unoperated position, closing the
N/C contact circuit. (Fig. 1)
When a ferrous target enters the
sensing area of the switch (Fig 2), it
diverts flux lines from the armature,
to create a magnetic dominance on
the opposite of the armature. As a
result, the armature snaps to its
operated position, closing the N/O
contact circuit. When the target is
removed the armature immediately
returns to its unoperated position.

Sensing Information
Accessory Target Magnets for Increased Sensing Range
Using GO Switch accessory Target Magnets greatly increase the sensing capabilities of the 10 Series GO Switch. All
sensing and reset distances published are based on the target moving directly into and away from the sensing area of the
GO Switch ( Figure 1 ). Dimension A represents the sensing range and Dimension B the reset distance. Sensing and reset
values will vary when:
(a)
target size is smaller than the 10 Series GO Switch sensing area (1” x 1-1/2”)
(b)
target enters the switch sensing area from direction other than Figure 1
(c)
switch is mounted on ferrous material (not recommended)
Sensing ranges published for ferrous targets and GO Switch Target Magnets are for reference only. Actual sensing ranges
can vary depending on the application. Targets should always pass within the published sensing range.

IMPORTANT
OPERATION and INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
GO® Switches operate on the principle
of magnetic attraction, reacting to ferrous metal
or magnetic targets as they come within the
switch's sensing range.
Although switches vary in design
according to their intended applications, all GO®
Switches use permanent magnets which, when
actuated by the presence of a ferrous or
magnetic target, change the state of electrical
contacts from Normally Closed (N/C) to
Normally Open (N/O).

Determine the desired operating point.
Locate switch and/or target to assure that
target comes within switch's sensing area.
— Use a ferrous target of sufficient size.
— Avoid contact between switch and
target,
— Use external magnets, available from
the factory, to extend the sensing
distance.
Switches may be mounted in any position.
— Install individually or side-by-side on a
non-ferrous bracket.
When mounting switches side-byside, sensing areas should face the
same direction.
— When mounting switches with sensing
areas facing each other, install them at
least 3" apart.
For best results, mount switches on nonmagnetic materials.
— Keep all ferrous materials at least 1"
from switch.
— Steel placed outside the switch's
differential area will not affect functioning.
When Switches are mounted on ferrous
metals, though this is not recommended,
sensing distance is reduced.
— Mount switch on ferrous bracket so
that effects on magnets are uniform
figure 2.
— In figure 1 the ferrous bracket does
not affect the switch magnets equally,
this may cause switch to latch or
"hang up".
Consider factors which may affect
contact life, when choosing and installing
switches.
— Choose the GO® Switch with capabilities
that match your requirements for
operating frequency, type of load, etc.
— For heavy or inductive loads, arc
suppression devices such as resistors,
capacitors and diodes are recommended in order to extend contact life.
Call the factory for specific details.

Attachment of Conduit or Cable
Attach conduit or cable correctly
— When using long runs of conduit or
cable, place supports close to the
switch to avoid pulling switch out of
position.
— If switch is mounted on a moving
part, be sure flexible conduit is long
enough to allow for movement, and
positioned to eliminate binding or
pulling.
— For installation in hazardous
locations, check local electrical
codes. "Switches must be
installed according to local
electrical codes".
— In damp environments, use
RTV or a similar moisture
barrier to prevent water/
condensation from entering
conduit hub.

Wiring Information
Contact arrangement varies according to the
type of switch. Refer to the catalog sections
on each switch series for detailed information. Be sure that the electrical load will not
exceed the rated capacity of the switch.

For two-circuit switches, contacts must be
connected to the same polarity in order to
minimize the possibility of a line-to-line short.
All GO® Switches are "pure" contact switches,
meaning that they have no voltage drop when
closed, nor do they have any leakage current
when open. For multi-unit installation,
switches may be wired in series or parallel, as
shown below.
Any number of GO® Switches may be wired in
series, without voltage drop. By contrast, solid
state switches have about two volts drop
across the switch when operated. With a
system of 12 volts and four switches in series, 8 volts is dropped across the switches.
Only 2V is left to operate the load. When using
GO® Switches, 12V is still available to operate the load.

When solid state switches are placed in parallel, there is about 100 microamps leakage
through each switch. If ten switches were
wired in parallel, the total leakage current
would be 1000 microamps (one milliamp) sufficient current to indicate an "ON" condition to
a programmable logic controller (PLC). Any
number of GO® Switches may be wired in
parallel, with no current leakage and without drawing
operating current.

How it Works
20 Series
GO Switch 20 Series side sensing
switches use two permanent
magnets and a ferrous armature to
control a set of mechanical contacts. One magnet is positioned
closer to the armature, creating a
dominant magnetic flux field on the
sensing side of the switch. As a
result, the armature rests in its
unoperated position, closing a N/C
contact.
Sensing
Area
Armature
Target
(Fig. 1)
When a ferrous target enters the
sensing area of the switch (Fig 2), it
diverts flux lines from the armature,
to create a magnetic dominance on
the opposite of the armature. As a
result, the armature snaps to its
operated position, closing the N/O
contact. When the target is removed
the armature immediately returns to
its unoperated position.

Accessory Target Magnets for Increased Sensing Range
Using GO Switch accessory Target Magnets greatly increase the sensing capabilities of the 20 Series GO Switch. All
sensing and reset distances published are based on the target moving directly into and away from the sensing area of the
GO Switch
(Figure 1). Dimension A represents the sensing range and Dimension B the reset distance. Sensing and reset values will
vary when:
(a)
target size is smaller than the 20 Series GO Switch sensing area (1” x 1-1/2”)
(b)
target enters the switch sensing area from direction other than Figure 1
(c)
switch is mounted on ferrous material (not recommended)
Sensing ranges published for ferrous targets and GO Switch Target Magnets are for reference only. Actual sensing ranges
can vary depending on the application. Targets should always pass within the published sensing range.

How it Works
GO Switch 30 Series end sensing
switches use one permanent
magnet and a ferrous armature to
control a set of mechanical contacts. The armature is positioned
off-center of the magnet, creating a
dominant magnetic flux field on the
sensing end of the switch. As a
result, the armature rests in its
unoperated position, closing a
contact circuit (Fig. 1).
When a ferrous target enters the
sensing area of the switch (Fig. 2) it
diverts flux lines from the armature
to create a magnetic dominance on
the opposite side of the armature.
As a result, the armature snaps to
its operated position, closing the
other contact circuit. When the
target is removed the armature
immediately returns to its
unoperated position.

Sensing Information
Accessory Target Magnets for Increased Sensing Range
Using GO Switch accessory Target Magnets greatly increase the sensing capabilities of the 30 Series GO Switch. All
sensing and reset distances published are based on the target moving directly into and away from the sensing area of the
GO Switch (Figure 1). Dimension A represents the sensing range and Dimension B the reset distance. Sensing and reset
values will vary when:
(a)
target size is smaller than the 30 Series GO Switch sensing area (1” x 1”)
(b)
target enters the switch sensing area from direction other than Figure 1
(c)
switch is mounted on ferrous material (not recommended)
Sensing ranges published for ferrous targets and GO Switch Target Magnets are for reference only. Actual sensing ranges
can vary depending on the application. Targets should always pass within the published sensing range.

All GO ® Switches are "pure" contact switches, meaning
that they have no voltage drop when closed, nor do they
have any leakage current when open. For multi-unit
installation, switches may be wired in series or parallel,
as shown below.
Series Wiring
Parallel Wiring
Any number of GO® Switches may be
wired in series, without voltage drop. By
contrast, solid state switches have about
two volts drop across each switch when
operated. With a system of 12 volts and
four switches in series, 8 volts are
dropped across the switches. Only 4
volts are left to operate the load. When
using GO® Switches, 12 volts are still
available to operate the load.
When solid state switches are placed in
parallel, there is about 100 microamps leakage through each switch. If ten switches
were wired in parallel, the total leakage
current would be 1000 microamps or one
milliamps - sufficient current to indicate an
"ON" condition to a programmable logic
controller (PLC). Any number of GO®
Switches may be wired in parallel, with
no current leakage and without drawing
operating current.

TopWorx engineers are happy to provide technical assistance on GO® Switch products. However,
it is the customer's responsibility to determine the safety and suitability of the product in their application.
It is also the customer's responsibility to install the switch using the current electrical codes in their region.
HOW THE 30 SERIES
GO® SWITCH OPERATES
IMPORTANT
®
In 30 Series GO Switches, only one magnet is used. A ferrous armature is positioned offcenter on the magnet, creating dominance and establishing a Normally Closed (N/C)
contact position (Figure 1).
• Determine the desired operating point.
• For best results, mount switch on nonferrous materials.
• Locate switch and/or actuator to assure
that actuator comes well within switch’s
sensing area.
• Steel placed outside the switch’s differential area will not affect functionality.
• Avoid contact between switch and actuator, which may damage switch.
N/C
• Switches may be mounted on ferrous
metals when necessary, though this is
not recommended. Sensing distance will
be reduced. Check with factory.
• Switch must be centered on ferrous
mounting bracket so that effects on the
magnet are uniform.
• Switches may be mounted in any position.
Switch Sensing
The 30 Series
The standard actuator for the 30 Series is
1" x 1" x 4 5/8" steel bar with the 1" x 1"
face pointing at the end of the switch.
Sensing distance for this series is
approximately 1/4"(6.35mm).
NOTE: Actuator size effects sensing
distance. Minimum recommended actuator
size is 1" x 1" x 1.5".

Mounting
• Use external magnets, available from the
factory, to extend the sensing distance.
ARMATURE
• Attach conduit or cable correctly.
FIGURE 1
Unoperated
When a ferrous actuator enters the sensing range of the switch (Figure 2), it deflects
magnetic flux from the (N/C) side of the armature and the Normally Open (N/O) side
becomes dominant. The armature then snaps to its alternate position, closing the N/O
contact. When the actuator is removed, the magnet again becomes dominant on the N/C
side and the armature returns to its N/C position.
• Use a ferrous actuator of sufficient size.

—All conduit connected electrical devices,
including GO® Switches must be sealed
against water ingression through the
conduit system. The use of RTV moisture barriers in the conduit hub, wiring
terminations and conduit junction provide a suitable solution. Drip loops with
provision for accumulated water to
escape prior to the connection to the
switch should also be effective.

How it Works
When a ferrous target enters the
sensing area of the switch (Fig. 2), it
attracts the primary magnet, which
pulls the connecting rod forward. As
a result, the common contact snaps
to its operated position, closing the
other contact circuit. When the
target is removed the common
contact immediately returns to its
unoperated position.
GO Switch 70 Series end sensing
switches use three permanent
magnets and a push-pull plunger
assembly to control a set of
mechanical contacts.
The center magnet simultaneously
attracts the primary magnet and
repels the bias magnet, pushing the
connecting rod backward. As a
result, the common contact rests in
its unoperated position, closing a
contact circuit.
GO Sawtooth Contact
All 70 Series GO Switches incorporate
GO Sawtooth contacts (Figure 3). The
surface of the common contacts are
serrated to provide mutiple current
paths and excellent contact fidelity
over millions of operations at low
loads.

Accessory Target Magnets for Increased Sensing Range
Using GO Switch accessory Target Magnets greatly increase the sensing capabilities of the 70 Series GO Switch. All
sensing and reset distances published are based on the target moving directly into and away from the sensing area of the
GO Switch ( Figure 1 ). Dimension A represents the sensing range and Dimension B the reset distance. Sensing and reset

All GO® Switches are
"pure" contact
switches, meaning
that they have no
voltage drop when
closed, nor do they
have any leakage
current when open.
For multi-unit
installation, switches
may be wired in series
or parallel, as shown.

Wiring Information
DPDT 70 Series GO® Switch
SPECIFICATIONS
Models 7G, 7H, 7I
Any number of GO® Switches may be wired
in series, without voltage drop. By contrast,
solid state switches have about two volts
drop across the switch when operated. In a
12 volt solid state system with four switches
in series, 8 volts is dropped across the
switches. Only 4V is left to operate the load.
When using GO® Switches, 12V is still available to operate the load.

When solid state switches are placed in
parallel, there is about 100 microamps leakage through each switch. If ten solid state
switches were wired in parallel, the total
leakage current would be 1000 microamps
or one milliamp - sufficient current to indicate an "ON" condition to a programmable
logic controller (PLC). Any number of GO®
Switches may be wired in parallel, with no
current leakage and without drawing operating current.

MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY
TopWorx, Inc., warrants that each item of new equipment manufactured by it will be free
from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service; its obligation
under this Warranty, being limited to making good, at its factory, any part or parts thereof,
which shall be returned to it with transportation charges prepaid, within one year after the
date of the purchase of such equipment by the original purchaser, and which its examination
shall disclose to its satisfaction to have been thus defective. TopWorx, however, assumes
no risk or liability for results of the use of the products purchased from it.
THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER OF
MERCHANTABILITY FITNESS, OR OTHERWISE EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AND ALL
OTHER OBLIGATIONS OR LIABILITIES AND GENERAL EQUIPMENT AND MANUFACTURING COMPANY, INC., NEITHER ASSUMES , NOR AUTHORIZES ANY PERSON TO ASSUME FOR IT ANY OTHER LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THE SALE
OF THIS EQUIPMENT.
No claims for labor in replacing defective parts and equipment and consequential
damages will be allowed by the Company.
This Warranty shall not apply to equipment which has been subjected to misuse,
negligence or accident.
This Warranty shall not apply to any equipment which shall have been repaired or
altered, outside the Company's factory so as to affect such equipment's stability or
reliability in the judgement of the Company.
It is the customer's responsibility to install the switch using the
current electrical codes in their region.
TopWorx engineers are available to provide technical assistance on GO® Switch products. However,
it is the customer's responsibility to determine the safety and suitability of the product in their application.
It is also the customer's responsibility to install the switch using the current electrical codes in their region.
GO® Switches operate on the principle
of magnetic attraction, reacting to ferrous
metal or magnetic targets as they come
within the switch's sensing range.
Although switches vary in design
according to their intended applications, all
GO® Switches use permanent magnets
which, when actuated by the presence of a
ferrous or magnetic target, change the state
of electrical contacts from Normally Closed
(N/C) to Normally Open (N/O).
Mounting
Determine the desired operating point.
Locate switch and/or target to assure that
target comes within switch's sensing
area.
— Use a ferrous target of sufficient size.
— Avoid contact between switch and
target,
— Use external magnets, available from
the factory, to extend the sensing
distance when required.
Switches may be mounted in any
position.
70 Series switches are unaffected by
ferrous steel. They can be mounted in
ferrous steel with no adverse affects.
For best results, mount switches
on non-magnetic materials.
— Steel placed outside the switch's
differential area will not affect
functioning.
Consider factors which may affect
contact life, when choosing and
installing switches.
— Choose the GO® Switch with
capabilities that match your
requirements for operating
frequency, type of load, etc.
— For heavy or inductive loads, arc
suppression devices such as
resistors, capacitors and diodes are
recommended in order to extend
contact life.
Call the factory for specific details.
70 Series switches used to detect
cylinder movement or valve position
should be carefully adjusted and tested.
— Do not use excessive torque
when installing switches.
GO® Switch recommends the use of our
Parker ThredSeal® Washer Kits in lieu of
other commercially available sealing
hardware. Provided with the Parker
ThredSeal® Washer Kit are torque values
for specific pressure ratings as well as the
maximum torque values.
When torque measuring tools are not
available during installation, the maximum
sealing value can be achieved by
observing the rubber sealing media.
Screw the jam nut down, over the flat
washer, compressing the rubber sealing
media fully and stop just as you reach
metal to metal contact.

Attachment of Conduit or Cable
• Attach conduit or cable correctly.
—When using long runs of conduit or
cable, place supports close to the
switch to avoid pulling switch out
of position.
—If switch is mounted on a moving
part, be sure flexible conduit is
long enough to allow for
movement, and positioned to
eliminate binding or pulling.
—For installation in hazardous
locations, check local electrical codes.
—All conduit connected electrical
devices, including GO® Switches must
be sealed against water ingression
through the conduit system. In figure
1, something common has occurred,
the conduit system has filled with
water. Over a period of time this may
cause the switch to fail prematurely.
In figure 2, the termination of the
switch has been carefully filled with
RTV to prevent water ingression and
to prevent premature switch failure. A
drip loop with provision for water to
escape has also been installed.

The 70 Series
The standard actuator for the 70 Series
Switches is a 1" x 1" x 3 1/2" mild steel
bar with the 1" x 1" face pointing at the
end of the switch. Sensing distance for
Models 73 through 77 is approximately
.100". Sensing distance for Models 71
and 72 is approximately .040".
Valve Position Indication
GO® Switch Application Engineers have
over 600 designs of position indication
packages for most manufactures and
models of rotary & linear actuators
(hydraulic, pneumatic and electric).
NOTE: Actuator size effects sensing
distance.

How it Works
Single-magnet 80 Series GO
Switches are designed for use with
two independent circuits. A ferrous
armature is positioned off-center,
creating dominance for the Normally
Closed (N/C) position (Figure 1).
When a ferrous target enters the
sensing range of the switch (Figure
2), it deflects magnetic flux from the
N/C side of the armature and the
Normally Open (N/O) side becomes
dominant. The armature then snaps
to its alternate position, closing the
N/O contacts. When the target is
removed, the magnet again
becomes dominant on the N/C side
and the armature returns to its N/C
position.

Sensing Information
Accessory Target Magnets for Increased Sensing Range
Using GO Switch accessory Target Magnets greatly increase the sensing capabilities of the 80 Series GO Switch. All
sensing and reset distances published are based on the target moving directly into and away from the sensing area of the
GO Switch (Figure 1). Dimension A represents the sensing range and Dimension B the reset distance. Sensing and reset
values will vary when:
(a)
target size is smaller than the 80 Series GO Switch sensing area (1-1/2” x 1-1/2”)
(b)
target enters the switch sensing area from direction other than Figure 1
(c)
switch is mounted on ferrous material (not recommended)
Sensing ranges published for ferrous targets and GO Switch Target Magnets are for reference only. Actual sensing ranges
can vary depending on the application. Targets should always pass within the published sensing range.

VOLTAGE SOURCE
Parallel Wiring
Any number of GO® Switches may be wired
in series, without voltage drop. By contrast,
solid state switches have about two volts
drop across each switch when operated.
With a system of 12 volts and four switches
in series, 8 volts are dropped across the
switches. Only 4 volts are left to operate the
load. When using GO® Switches, 12 volts
are still available to operate the load.

Typ. Dual Load
Hook-up
When solid state switches are placed in
parallel, there is about 100 microamps leakage through each switch. If ten switches
were wired in parallel, the total leakage current would be 1000 microamps or one
milliamps - sufficient current to indicate an
"ON" condition to a programmable logic controller (PLC). Any number of GO® Switches
may be wired in parallel, with no current
leakage and without drawing operating
current.
All GO® Switches are "pure" contact switches,
meaning that they have no voltage drop
when closed, nor do they have any leakage
current when open. For multi-unit installation, switches may be wired in series or
parallel, as shown.

NOTE: Occasionally the 80 Series DPDT
is used for its end sensing, when only a
SPDT switch is required. If this is the
case in your application it is to your best
advantage to parallel the lead wires (red
to red/white stripe, blue to blue/white
stripe and black to black/white stripe,
essentially converting a DPDT switch to
a SPDT configuration) so that both
individual circuits see the same load
and therefore wear equally to give long
contact life and the reliable service you
expect with GO® Switch.

HOW THE 80 SERIES
GO® SWITCHES WORK
The GO® Proximity Principle
OPERATOR
Single-magnet 80 Series GO® Switches
are designed for use with two
independent circuits. A ferrous armature
is positioned off-center, creating
dominance and placing the contacts for
both circuits in a Normally Closed (N/C)
position (Figure 1).
When a ferrous actuator enters the
sensing area of the switch (Figure 2), it
deflects magnetic flux from the N/C side
of the armature and the Normally Open
(N/O) side becomes dominant. The
armature then snaps to its alternate
position, closing the N/O contacts. When
the actuator is removed, the magnet again
becomes dominant on the N/C side and
the armature returns to its N/C position.
OPERATION and INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Attachment of Conduit or Cable
• Determine the desired operating point.
• Attach conduit or cable correctly.
• Locate switch and/or actuator to assure
that actuator comes well within switch’s

• Switches may be mounted on ferrous
metals when necessary, though this is not
recommended. Sensing distance will be
reduced. Check with factory.
• Switch must be centered on ferrous
mounting bracket so that effects on the
magnet are uniform.
— For installation in hazardous locations,
adhere to local electrical codes.
—All conduit connected electrical devices,
including GO® Switches must be sealed
against water ingression through the
conduit system. The use of RTV moisture barriers in the conduit hub, wiring
terminations and conduit junction provide a suitable solution. Drip loops with
provision for accumulated water to
escape prior to the connection to the
switch should also be effective.
