Lackland ISD E-News www.lacklandisd.net Community Services Page 2 of 10 March 28, 2014 Ms. Duron's Community Service Class created handmade nine patch pillows and donated them to an organization called Child Safe. Just like the name states, it's a place where abused children of all ages can feel safe. Child Safe provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, Child Protective Services, prosecution, and mental health professionals work together to create a unique plan to help each individual and family traumatized by abuse heal, as well as work with law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice. They're only organization in Bexar County who provide these services for these children. In 2013, they provided assistance in 6,000 child abuse cases. They want this cruel unacceptable act to stop, but they need your help. April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and you might see a cardboard kid at multiple locations around Lackland AFB. Please check the back of each kid and see what you can do to help. One person’s act can save thousands.
