Dylusions Paint Techniques:
Technique tips

•
•
Working from the lid of your paint pot allows you to
take small amounts of paint at a time.
To get the best results when blending, dip the
blending tool into the lid and then blend onto the
Non-Stick Craft Sheet. This allows the tool to have
even coverage and blends off any excess paint. It is
always best to start off with less paint than too much!
Clean up all your tools as soon as you have finished,
do not leave paint to dry on them.
Use a 9757 Stamp Cleaning Pad with a little water to
scrub your rubber stamps clean.
Blending Tools and Stencilling
1. Add a small amount of paint to the blending tool,
and then prime the tool by blending it onto a NonStick Craft Sheet to give the tool an even coverage.
2. Then, using a circular motion blend the paint onto
your paper.
3. Paint can be added in layers, because they are
semi-opaque. Applying one colour over another will
create different colours!
4. After applying paint you can then stamp or spray
over the top.
5. To get two tones out of
one colour apply the first
layer of paint very thinly (it
may look a little uneven and
the blending marks may
show, but don’t worry), then
go back over the top with a
second layer in places. This
works well using a stencil on
the second layer.
Brayering
1. Add a small amount of paint to a Non-Stick Craft
Sheet.
2. Spritzing with water can help if you’re using more than
one colour and you want them to blend a little.
3. Roll the Brayer over the paint several times until the
Brayer has an even coverage of paint.
4. The finished look that you want will determine how
much paint to layer on to the Brayer.
5. Roll the Brayer over your project. You can apply the
paint haphazardly or in a specific area.
6. Several colours can be layered over each other, or
next to each other.
7. After applying paint, you can then stamp and spray
over the top!
Baby Wipes
1. Dip the baby wipes into the lid of the paint pot
picking up a small amount of paint.
2. Then apply the paint to your project by wiping over
the area you wish to cover. This will give a more
subtle application and the wetness of the wipe allows
colours to be easily blended together.
3. This technique is great for large areas!
Stamping
1. Apply the paint to the stamp of your choice (using a
blending tool primed as explained previously).
2. Paint only needs to be
applied in a thin layer to
the stamp. If applied too
thick it will seep into the
recesses of the rubber
stamp and the image will
bleed out and be fuzzy!
3. Always clean the stamp
immediately after
use. Using the 9757
Stamp Cleaning Pad is
recommended.
Paint Brushes
1. Dylusions Paints can be used to paint just like any
other acrylic paints. Mix the colours to create different
colours and tones.
2. Apply to your project with brushes just as a famous
artist would paint a masterpiece!
3. Browse the Kaszazz customer events gallery for
workshops that use Dylusions paints.
