Reliant Park Going Green
The Harris County Sports & Convention Corporation
(HCSCC) and Reliant Park are committed to the
effort of caring for our environment and have
engaged in a continuous commitment to be
environmentally conscious by implementing green
practices into our facility operations.
• Reliant Park is reducing chemical product usage by introducing the Orbio 5000-Sc, a chemical free, effective cleaning solution generated automatically on-site.
• Window shades in the Stadium Press Box
automatically or manually drop down during the hottest times of the day reducing ambient heat buildup.
• Motion sensors are installed in individual offices and restrooms to reduce lighting when not
required.
• Motion sensor sinks and flush valves in the rest
rooms to save water.
• With the assistance of Waste Management, over 250 collection bins were purchased and distributed at strategic locations throughout Reliant Stadium and the recycling program is focused on the
collections of cardboard, glass and plastic.
• Reliant Park has created 30 acres of green space that includes 2,200 trees and two permanent
water features.
• Thermal controlled fan switches are installed on all 16 Reliant Stadium matrix boxes.
• SMG-Reliant Park annually participates in the Lights Out Houston four-day initiative, capping an end to the national Earth Week Campaign.
• Reliant Park continues to use the Building
Automation System (BAS), established to
maximize energy use throughout Reliant Park.
• We work hand in hand with our clients to ensure that excess food has not gone to waste and is
donated to local shelters.
• Reliant Park is upgrading our lighting to high
efficiency bulbs to save energy as well as money.
• Reliant Park supports eco-friendly vendors when at all possible.
