camel from the Bahia Shriners. The camel,
“Sir Gus” has been with the Shriners for
over 8 years and will now be on permanent exhibit at the Zoo. The Shriners will
continue to take Sir Gus to events and his
new home at the Central Florida Zoo will
allow more people to enjoy him.
Red-Capped Cardinals
What does the newest bird on exhibit
and 4 quarters have in common? They
both weigh 23 grams! Stop by the South
American aviary and see if you can spot
our red-capped cardinals flying by the
toucan or sloth. This South American
cousin to our native cardinal is much
smaller, but you can see the family resemblance in the brilliant red head feathers.
