MARY STAR OF THE SEA PARISH ST. CLARE OF MONTEFALCO PARISH HOW DOES INDIVIDUAL DISCERNMENT OF CHARISMS AFFECT THE PARISH? Discerning charisms communally enables a parish to thrive on the gifts of its people. Far from being “just another program,” this is a whole new way to look at our parishes. Because we seldom look first at the gifts and call of individuals, our communities too often contain generous and energetic people who have been burned-out or even traumatized trying to fill “vacuums” for which they were ill-equipped. But if we look first at our gifts, our communities will come to be shaped by our loves, because God calls each of us to (and gifts us for) the work that we most love. Come and experience a Spiritual Gifts’ Inventory process and see how to renew your parish! Kathy McNicholas is a pastoral associate and director of religious education at Incarnation Parish. Her passion is adult faith formation. (Terry will be presenting the Spanish Track) 5 ST. MARY STAR OF THE SEA PARISH ST. DENIS PARISH St. Paul says, “Pray without ceasing.” Thus, prayer has to be more than prescribed words – prayer is a mindset and a lifestyle leading to a relationship. Using the liturgical year as our framework, we will explore the various ways we can bring both ourselves and our children into a more intimate relationship with God through diverse ways of praying. We will look at traditional seasonal devotions as well as surface some new ideas to spark a sense of prayer in both our children and ourselves.
