2014 Board of Directors Candidate Bios Since 2006, has served as Executive Director of the Ingham Health Plan Corporation. The Corporation is organized to finance and arrange basic health care coverage for uninsured, lower income individuals in a six county region. Spent 14 years as Executive Director of the Mid-South Substance Abuse Commission. She developed and implemented a comprehensive plan for the provision of substance abuse treatment, prevention and intervention services for a ten-county region. He was in the group that requested and received the $72 million loan used to create Consumers Mutual. He is Executive Director of the Northern & TENCON Health Plans. The two non-profit corporations finance and arrange basic coverage programs for low-income uninsured people in eighteen Michigan counties. Bruce Miller Vice Treasurer For 23 years Bruce served as Deputy Director at the Ingham County Health Department with responsibilities that included the Community Health Centers and the Ingham Health Plan. Master of Public Health, University of Michigan; B.A., Michigan State University. Joined the board in June 2012. Currently employed by Resource Link of Michigan as a consultant on a part-time basis as well as holding a position as a part-time consultant affiliate for the Grant Consulting Group. She was an insurance regulator for 25 years with the State of Michigan. For 11 of those years, she was a Deputy Insurance Commissioner, retiring from the State of Michigan in 2010. Joan Moiles She attended Central Michigan University, and was conferred the designation of Health Insurance Associate by America’s Health Insurance Plans. Treasurer Has served as Acting Associate Director of the Institute for Health Policy, College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University since February 2012. For 30 years, served as the Director of the Ingham County Health Department. He was a long serving member of the National Association for County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). Spent 12 years at National Human Resourcing Company where he served as Vice President of Sales supervising 140 sales representatives and 14 regional managers and grew their sales to over $800 million annually. Former chair of the Schoolcraft County Board of Commissioners, where he served as vice-chair of finance and managed all the insurance issues within Schoolcraft County Government. Former insurance agent. Currently serving as President of CUP Youth Baseball with over 45 years of experience in youth baseball. State Commissioner for Michigan and Wisconsin for Babe Ruth Baseball. Doug Erickson Since 2006, has served as owner/operations manager of Swick Plumbing & Heating, where he is responsible for leadership of staff, operations and improving the overall culture of the company. Swick provides repair and replacement services including HVAC, plumbing and electrical. Spent 6 years at RC Mechanical where he served as Estimator/ Project Manager and 9 years at Manderfield, Inc. Rick Gilles Over 21 years of experience in the HVAC industry. Member of Lake Linden Downtown Development Authority, Marquette Rotary, and Marquette Economic Club. Attended Northern Michigan University. Since 2002, he has been the President of the S&M Smoke Shoppe, Inc. as well as the Manager of VIP Tobacco, Inc., which are both located in Michigan. He has served as Quality Systems Manager for Johnson Controls, Inc. and as area leader for a local packaging company. Former Chairman of the Board of a political action committee, Yemen American Public Affairs Council with a political wing (YPAC). Zayad Mohamed Associates Degree in Business Administration from Davenport University and is certified as a Quality Professional by the American Society of Quality (ASQ) For 25 years, has served as Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, where he currently conducts interviewing for the admissions committee. Gregory D. Shannon, MD, MBA, FACEP In 2003, launched Advanced Health and Image, a multispecialty practice and led practices in 6 states. Served for 16 years as founder and Chairman of the Board for Wolverine Emergency Physicians, PC that managed contracts for Flint and Shiawassee medical sites. Served on multiple medical executive and advisory committees. Over 25 years of extensive service with professional organizations including American College of Emergency Physicians and Michigan State Medical Society.
