summary
was born out of a cultural crossbreeding a few
years ago, between Paris, Rio and South Pacific.Named from an
isolated island in Vanuatu archipelago she results from the
personal story of Gabrielle, the designer, in love with her
time and its tribes.
She draws her inspirations from her melanesian childhood,
her travels, in her every day city life and develops a urban,
humanist and poetic universe.
Ambrym tells a story of diversity, of created and recreated links, and faith in the future.She derives her inspiration from the transposition of the natural archipelago into
the very center of the city.She combines tribal and contemporary to develop a primal universe on an urban mode.
Both conception and realization are full of attention and
sense, with pieces exclusively made with organic, recycled
and ecologic fabrics.Our production is entirely made in
France in small ateliers with an artisanal knowledge.
Ambrym makes this process a spontaneous and honest commitment.

It's through Marguerite Duras's books straddled between
Europe and Tropics,Jacques Demy and Agnès Varda's sweet movies
and
human sagas from french film director Patrice Chéreau
that Gabrielle built her link with the old continent.
After studying at Esmod Paris, then at the National Conservatory of Art and Crafts,nostalgic of distant cultures, she
decided to go working as a designer in Rio de Janeiro.There
she took the decision to commit herself to a socially and environmentally friendly fashion.
Back in France, she designed a capsule collection, presented at "the International Young Designers Festival in Dinard",
where she was awarded the special distinction by the jury.A
few month later, this capsule collection was exhibited at Le
musée du quai Branly in Paris.
This recognition persuated her to launch, in January 2009,
the artistic brand "Ambrym".
Today, Ambrym's collections are created around Gabrielle's
watercolors:translated in screenprints, in digital prints, in
embroideries, they are the real DNA of the brand that makes it
so unique and singular.

Appropriating Ambrym's universe is above all making the
choice of an atypical, anvant-gardist, and creative
fashion.It is also giving priority to an ecologically
and humanly responsible reasoning.
We put emphasis on working with sustainable fabrics, as
organic cotton, merinos italian wool, european linen,
recycled fabrics or french "couture" house's stock surplus.
Our pieces are produced in small french workshops in
Paris and it's suburbs. Some pieces are produced by a
reinsertion atelier and screnn printed by an artisan in
Saint-Denis.
Our goods then combine inspiration from remote cultures
with local production and quality standards.
Ambrym adds a handmade touch to her pieces, to attach a
soul to her products: Gabrielle numbers and signs part
of her collection that she hand paints.
Each product has an identity card, which specifies the
place and date of birth, the origins of the different
fabrics, and production place.

"Beautiful encounters" : a journey chronology
* may 2008: Gabrielle presents her first artisanal collection "Praça XV" at the International Festival of Young Designers in Dinard, where she won the special award from the
jury.
* april 2009: The musée du quai Branly exhibits "Praça XV"
pieces.
* 2009-2010: Birth of the artistic brand "Ambrym" with the
precious help of Marion Jaubert, Marie et Marc Gérard.
* november 2010: Ambrym is selected by the Ile de France
region in order to participate to the "Paris Hanoï" fashion
show for the city 1000 years anniversary.
* from 2010: Ambrym is travelling and presenting its collections across the world: Paris, New-York, Tokyo, Berlin.
* 2010/2012: The brand is selected by "Les Ateliers de
Paris" for a 2 years residence.
* april 2012: Ambrym draws exclusive designs for Anthropologie's stores.
* from 2012: Famous people wear and support regularly the
brand as the french actress Marion Cotillard and Vahina
Giocante, Jeanne Added and Clou singers, french anchorwomen
Daphné Burki and Alessandra Sublet and even Jean Rochefort...
* from 2013: Gabrielle regularly collaborates as a freelance
illustrator for other brands(Des artistes, Kenzo parfums,
Cotélac...)
* summer 2015: Selected by the Paris City Hall, Ambrym opens
it first own gallery/store in the canal Saint-Martin area in
Paris.

In summer 2015, Ambrym opened its own store/gallery in the
heart of canal saint-martin area in Paris.
You will find there the brand's collection inside Gabrielle's singular universe (watercolors, installations, bargain-hunted objects, childhood shells...)and a selection of
friend-designers which complete Ambrym's pieces, with the
same commitments:
