First to Graduate with 7 Years of Classroom Guitar
As mentioned earlier, Kylee Andreasen was the first student in the state of Nevada and
possible the U.S. to graduate from high school having completed seven years of classroom
guitar. She began her first guitar class in the sixth grade at Becker MS with teacher, Bob
Morris. She completed three years of guitar at Becker MS and started high school at Palo
Verde HS.
7
Kylee was placed in the Intermediate Guitar class her freshman year at Palo Verde. Her
teacher at Palo Verde was Bill Swick. When Mr. Swick transferred to the Las Vegas
Academy in 2002, Kylee followed and was placed in the first advanced guitar class at LVA.
She remained in that class the following three years. Kylee was also a member of the Palo
Verde HS Guitar Quartet her freshman year and was a member of the LVA Guitar Quartet
all three years she attended LVA.
During the final month of her senior year, Kylee was awarded a special trophy created in
the custom shop of Fender Musical Instruments, Corp. to recognize her accomplishment of
being the first to graduate with seven years of classroom guitar. This special trophy was
presented by her first guitar teacher, Mr. Bob Morris, who has left the teaching profession
and is currently the Coordinator of Guitar Education for Fender Musical Instruments, Corp.
Upon graduation of LVA, Kylee was accepted into the music education program at Utah
State where she currently studies with Mike Christiansen.
First African American to Graduate with 7 Years of Classroom Guitar
Walter Turner III began guitar in the sixth grade at Lied Middle School with teacher Michael
Fredrickson. Walter completed three years of classroom guitar in middle school. Upon
graduation from Lied MS, Walter was accepted into the guitar program at the Las Vegas
Academy in 2002, the first year of the guitar program.
Of the eight guitar majors to first graduate in 2006 with four years of classroom guitar at
LVA, Walter Turner III is the only student with a total of seven years of classroom guitar.
He is the second student in the state of Nevada and possibly the U.S. to graduate with
seven years of guitar. However, he is the first Afro-American to complete this task.
First Student to Graduate with 6 Years of Classroom
Guitar with Mr. Swick
Stephen Boggioni is the first student to graduate high school having attended six years of
classroom guitar with Mr. Swick. He studied with Mr. Swick for two years at Rogich Middle
School and four years at LVA.

Every other week throughout the school year, guitar students perform a bi-weekly
playing test consisting of two graduated studies. The exams are performed on a guitar
that is attached to a computer. The software in the computer does the scoring. It is
extremely accurate. This is a new category to recognize those students who scored 16
or more perfect scores during the school year. The following students scored 16 or
more perfect scores on their bi-weekly playing tests. Each student receives 32 playing
test grades during the school year. This special recognition is for those students who

percentage.
