2401-CCPPUU FFaacciilliittyy CCaarrdd P P L C PL LC C IIInnnttteeegggrrraaattteeeddd The 2401 control unit manages the entire F&G/ESD 2400 system, aimed for both detection and activation of F&G field signals through I/O modules. The system is set up by dedicated boards in order to detect: • Flame presence • Smoke presence • Combustible, Toxic Gas presence, etc. • Digital signals, pushbuttons, etc. • Field signal activation like Electric Valves, Horns, Lamp, synoptic panels etc. The system F&G/ESD 2400, set up by the 2401-CPU Facility Card and by multiplechannel Input/Output boards (supervised or not) is designed for different redundancy levels from a single signal to all boards, depending on the different safety requirements needed on each plant. Programming the 2401-CPU Facility Card using the information necessary to manage present signals configures in system. These informations are: • Type and number of signals to be detected • Number of detection cards (smoke, gas, flame) • Number of digital I/O cards The configuration information for the entire system and the application software, which execute the logical output activation are stored in a temporary RAM The system control and management are based on a 16-bit 80186 microprocessor, carrying out, briefly and these functions: • Management of the serial communications with all of the I/O 2400 controller • Management of the activation logic through an equation-based programming • Ensures the safe control of the equipment through redundancy management The system structure is designed to manage different safety levels, therefore it includes the 2401-CPU Facility Card redundancy as well as the redundancy of any I/O signal it should manage. The board is provided with a clock/calendar (with internal battery) which maintains updated date and time on event printouts and diagnostics. The 2401-CPU Facility Card is provided with a basic software on RAM (with battery back-up), including a multitasking operating system which allows the application software (stored in a buffered 196 kb RAM) to best use the system resources. The 2401-CPU Facility Card is based on a 16 bit INTEL Microprocessor 80186 with 64/128 Kbytes of EPROM for firmware and operating system and 512 Kbytes Ram for working include 192 Kbytes Ram for application program. The facility is equipped with resident software “firmware” containing a multitasking operating system which optimised the microprocessor features. Four serial lines are provided as follow: The first one is RS485-FD (double), in Redundant configuration at baud-rate 38400 used for the communication with I/O cards. The 2401-CPU Facility Card manages the signals from/to I/O cards, connected in system, acquiring all the Alarm and Fault status an executed all the Causes and Effects logic written in application program and generates the respective outputs of commands. At prefixed time of 1 hour the CPU executes troubleshooting programs, which test the status of all system functions, generating event message for a printing out any status-changed conditions. The second one is RS485-FD (double), in Redundant configuration at baud-rate 9600 used for the communication with the 2405/2405C Digital Control Panel. This/these Panel control all the Addressable Devices installed in system, is possible to connect up to 32 Digital Control Panel in different configurations of work access level. The third one is RS232-C at 9600-N-8-1, will allow communication with a Host Computer as supervisory system in MODBUS® RTU Slave protocol. The fourth one is RS232-C at 38400-N-8-1, dedicated to the communication with programming system, it is based on PC on which a dedicated software, realised by SES-ASA ENGINEERING Protection, necessary for the configuration and the programming of the logic. After download program, the system has been configured. This serial line will be available to send the event and diagnostic message to the printer/PC at 9600-N-8-1. All the printed messaged will contain the exact timing date, for each type of event. If selected system without printer is active like MODBUS® RTU Slave protocol. The system can provide a Redundant 2401-CPU in “Master & Slave” configuration.
