Dear Parishioners,
In today’s Gospel we focus on the Annunciation as the ful illment of what God had promised to King David
in our irst reading. We think of Mary being pregnant for those nine months and the immediate preparation for
the birth of Christ as we draw so close to Christmas. Let us prepare our hearts to receive our Lord like our
blessed mother.
My Christmas letter will appear in the next bulletin during the Christmas season. But I do hope that you
all have a beautiful Christmas celebration with all your family and friends.
I hope you all come out for the Advent concert Monday night starting at 6:00pm on the Cameron Street
side parking lot. It is an outdoor concert weather permitting. If not I’m sure we will move it inside.
We are looking for helpers in our library on Sundays from 9:00-noon. Could you take one Sunday a
month? Give me a call.
I would like to make a home visit to all of those homes where I have not been yet. That’s how you really
get to know a family. It does not have to be connected to a meal, but if you want I would not turn it down. This is
also a good way to promote vocations among the young people. They get to see a priest outside the context of
Mass. So give me a call.
Christmas, of course, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Christmas Eve Masses are 4:00pm (Adult Choir sings)
and 6:30pm. Christmas Day Masses are 6:30am, 8:00am and 10:00am. There will be no 6:00pm Mass. Adoration
will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The of ice will be closed at noon on Wednesday and all day
Thursday.
I love you all.
Joke of the Week:
A priest waited in line to have his car illed with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked
quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.
“Father,” said the young man, “I’m so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to
get ready for a long trip.”
The priest chuckled, “I know what you mean. It’s the same in my business.”
In Jesus,
Fr. Tom

Prayer for the Year of Consecrated Life
0 God, throughout the ages you have called women and men to pursue lives of perfect
charity through the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience. During this
Year of Consecrated Life, we give you thanks for these courageous witnesses of Faith and
models of inspiration. Their pursuit of holy lives teaches us to make a more perfect offering
of ourselves to you. Continue to enrich your Church by calling forth sons and daughters who,
having found the pearl of great price, treasure the Kingdom of Heaven above all things.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the
Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen
