COMPANIONING THE DYING (CTD):
OPENING FULLY TO LIVING
CTD is a year-long program offering both formation and
ongoing support for those who feel called to deepen their
own spiritual grounding as they companion the dying. This
program was started in 2009 by Rose Mary Dougherty,
SSND and Amy Hoey, RSM
Through readings, formal presentations and experiential
learning, the program offers basic skills and contemplative
practices to assist participants in their confident and
compassionate companioning of the dying, along with the
integration of their experience into their own spirituality.
Classes meet monthly on Mondays in Kensington, with a
Baltimore class meeting on Saturdays in Timonium.
Graduates of the program are provided ongoing support
through annual retreats and workshops sponsored by CTD,
and through the growing community of CTD graduates.
The application deadline for the next class is July 1,
2015. The program is also approved for social workers for up
to 53 units of continuing education credit.

Honoring the Dignity of Life in Sickness and Death
Wednesday, May 20 – 7:00pm – 9:00pm
The archdiocesan Department of Life Issues and St. Paul's
Church in Damascus, MD are co-sponsoring an evening
workshop with Fr. Daniel Mindling, OFM Cap., moral theologian
and academic dean from the Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, and
Elena Boisvert, Esq., an elder law attorney. The expert panel will
explain the moral principles that guide our decision-making on
specific medical treatments and give practical guidance on
advance medical directives, including the Maryland MOLST form
(Medical Order for Life Sustaining Treatment).
