Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time–July 10, 2016
"For this command that I enjoin on you today is not too mysterious and remote for you.
These are the words of the Lord that He gives in response to all those who consider the Commandments of God to be
too difficult or impossible to follow. This should bring us to the understanding that God does not ask us to take on
more than what we are able to endure or bear. Which means that for some of us it would seem that we have it worse
than others. This could be true, but, instead of complaining, we should rejoice because we have been chosen by God
to carry these sufferings that though they seem to be too heavy, can be endured with the proper effort. For the Lord,
these persons are worthy of trust so that he charges them with these type of missions. How many mes have you said:
If I was this person, I would not be able to bear such sufferings? We should avoid the tempta on of thinking that the
problems, sufferings and difficul es of any sort that a person might be going through, is as a result of a divine punishment, because this is not so. The fact that this person is going through these specific type of experiences, should
move us to be thankful to God to not be in their shoes and, at the same me, we should offer a prayer to our Creator
on behalf of this person so that the Lord keeps them strong in their trials and sufferings. Having established by way of
this explana on regarding the supposed punishment of a person by God. It is me to prepare ourselves with awareness and in a very conscious manner over what the Lord permits to happen to us, so that we do not fall into desperaon and in a disillusion that will make us take on an a tude of complaint with the Lord. On the contrary, let us make
an effort to accept with pa ence and many mes with resigna on what happens to us, knowing that God has everything under control. He will not allow for the situa on to overcome you. He who has entrusted you to carry such a
task in enduring heavy burdens at mes, will grant you with the spiritual and material assistance necessary to come
out triumphant in living out the commandments of God. May the Virgin Mary, who is the model of total acceptance to
the will of God help us to love the Commandments of God so that we shall be able to observe them with a willing

Estos mandamientos que te doy, no son superiores a tus fuerzas ni están fuera de tu alcance.
Estas palabras del Señor son la respuesta que Él da a todos aquellos que consideran que los Mandamientos de Dios
son di cil o imposibles de cumplir. Esto nos debe llevar a la comprensión de que Dios no exige más de lo que cada uno
de nosotros podemos sobrellevar. Lo cual significa que para algunos de nosotros pareciese que nos va peor que a
otros. Esto puede ser cierto, pero, en vez de quejarnos, deberíamos de alegrarnos porque hemos sido escogidos por
Dios para llevar esas cargas que aunque parezcan muy pesadas, se pueden llevar con el esfuerzo debido. Estas personas son dignas de confianza para el Señor que les encomienda ese po de misiones. ¿Cuantas veces habrás dicho, Si yo
fuera esa persona, no aguantaría lo que ella está soportando? Debemos de evitar la tentación de considerar que los
problemas, padecimientos y dificultades de todo po por los que una persona está atravesando, son producto de un
cas go divino, porque no es así. El hecho de que esa persona está teniendo ese determinado po de experiencias, nos
ha de mover agradecerle a Dios por no estar en sus zapatos y, al mismo empo, debemos de elevar una oración al
Creador en favor de dicha persona para que el Señor la mantenga fuerte en sus penas y sufrimientos. Habiendo establecido esta aclaración sobre el supuesto cas go de Dios sobre una persona. Es empo de prepararse de manera muy
consciente sobre lo que Dios ha de permi r que nos suceda, para que no caigamos en la desesperación y en la desilusión que nos lleve a asumir una ac tud de moles a con el Señor. Al contrario, esforcémonos en aceptar con paciencia
y muchas veces con resignación lo que nos pase, sabiendo que Dios ene todo bajo control. Él no te dejará que la
situación te supere. Él que ha confiado en para encomendarte dicha tarea de llevar algunas cargas pesadas, te concederá aquellas ayudas espirituales y materiales que te sean necesarias para salir victorioso al vivir bajo los mandamientos de Dios. Que la Virgen María, quien es el modelo de aceptación plena de la voluntad de Dios nos ayude a
amar los mandamientos de Dios para que seamos capaces de respetarlos con agrado.

2016 Festival Planning Committee

Alvernia Retreat-The St. Damian group is having their 2nd
Retreat on August 12, 13, and 14. Youth and young adults ages

What does being a Catechist Involve?
Do you have a deep love for your faith and desire to share it with others? Consider being a
catechist! Though it may be helpful, previous teaching experience is not necessary. And don’t
be afraid that you don’t know every detail of your faith— part of being a catechist involves
openness to learning as you teach. As a catechist, you make a weekly commitment to guide a
class of no more than 15 students through the We Believe Sadlier Publishers series from
September through May. Catechists volunteer to teach Kinder through 9th grade. Classes are
on Sunday 10:30am to 12:00noon mass. As a catechist, you will receive a schedule for the
year, which will help you plan when to teach which lesson. You will also receive the catechist’s version of the text book, which suggests activities and gives tips on how to plan your
lesson. Catechists are responsible for planning and presenting weekly lessons. When you
make the commitment to guide a class through the year, we make the commitment to support you in your ministry. Pray to the Holy Spirit for the discernment to be a catechist! Background checks are required for catechists. How can I sign up? Would you like to learn more

Have you ever noticed when talking to a priest or nun, that you really see them?
Perhaps it is their attire that allows you to see their beauty and dignity foremost.
For the lay faithful, it is a struggle not to be distracted by judgements of the outward presentations of our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is a part of our fallen
nature, but we can-and are called-to help one another. The start of summer is an
appropriate time to reflect the way we present ourselves to the Our Lord.
First of all, please understand that nobody is being asked to purchase new
clothes. Instead, here are some useful considerations for appropriate dress: “We
should… come to the sacred liturgy appropriately dressed. As Christians we
should dress in a modest manner, wearing clothes that reflect our reverence for
God and that manifest our respect for the dignity of the liturgy and for one another.”
St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori reminds us that modesty applies to both men and
women. It is not just the exterior depiction, but it is more importantly an interior
attitude. “We must practice modesty, not only in our looks , but also in our whole
department, and particularly in our dress, our walk, our conversation, and all
similar actions.”
Modesty protects the intimate center of the person; it guides how one looks at
others and behaves toward them in conformity with the dignity of persons and
their solidarity.” (CCC §2521)

Venta de Garaje: La Sociedad del Altar tendrá una venta de

Venta de Pla llos: El Grupo San Damián estará vendiendo plallos de pollo con todos los aderezos el sábado, 16 de julio de

Retiro de Alvernia
El Grupo San Damián tendrá su 2o. Retiro de Alvernia el 12, 13,
y 14 de Agosto. Jóvenes de edades 16-25 son bienvenidos. La

¿Que se necesita para ser un Catequista?
Tienes amor por tu fe y un deseo de compartirla con los demás? ¡Considera ser
un catequista! No necesita tener experiencia como maestro (a). No tenga miedo si
no sabe todo a cerca de su fe-parte de ser un catequista es estar abierto a aprender mientras enseña. Como catequista, hace un compromiso de guiar a una clase
de no mas de 15 estudiantes mediante la serie de libros “Nosotros Creemos”. Los
catequistas son voluntarios para los grados kínder hasta el 9o. Las clases son los
domingos de 10:30am-12:00pm. Como catequista, recibirás un horario por un año,
el cual te ayudara a planear para enseñar tu lección. También recibirá un libro el
cual trae actividades y tips en como planear tu lección. Los catequistas son responsables por planear y presentar las lecciones semanales. Cuando usted hace el
compromiso a guiar una clase, hacemos el compromiso en apoyarte en tu ministerio. Ora al Espíritu Santo para que te de discernimiento para ser catequista! Se

¿Ha notado?
¿Ha notado usted hablar a un padre o a una monja, que verdaderamente lo ves-?
Quizás es su ropa misma que facilita ver su belleza y dignidad ante todo. Para los
fieles laicos, es difícil no ser distraído por los juicios que imponemos a las presentaciones externas, de nuestros hermanos en Cristo. Es parte de nuestra naturaleza
caída; sin embargo podemos y estamos llamados a ayudar el uno al otro. El comienzo de del verano es un buen momento para reflexionar en la forma en que nos
presentamos a Nuestro Señor. No se le esta pidiendo que compre ropa nueva. En su
lugar, aquí están unas consideraciones útiles para determinar vestimenta apropiada:
“Debemos llegar a la sagrada liturgia vestidos apropiadamente. Como cristianos debemos vestir de una manera modesta, con ropa que refleja nuestra reverencia a Dios y que
manifiesta nuestro respeto a la dignidad de la liturgia de cada persona.”
San Alfonso María de Ligorio nos hace recordar que la modestia se aplica tanto a
hombres como a mujeres y es mas importante una actitud interior. “Debemos practicar la modestia, no solo en nuestra apariencia, sino también en toda nuestra conducta, y en particular en nuestro vestido, nuestro caminar, nuestra conversación, y todas
las acciones similares.” El pudor preserva la intimidad de la persona; que ordena las
miradas y los gestos hacia ellos en conformidad con la dignidad de las personas y su
solidaridad.” (CCC §2521)
