APPLICATION STORY
• Bus maintenance garages must
repair and replace floors, step
wells and other body parts due to corrosion and rust. Water & road
salt create severe abrasion & corrosion causing thousands of
dollars in repairs each year.
• For one school bus garage, replacing a step well area
requires approximately 16 man hours and $3000 for a
replacement step well. This $3640 only grows if the supporting
framework around the repair is not in good condition.
• Wear-Flex XPress Spray coating was used to protect and seal
the step well area during regular preventative maintenance.
Wear-Flex XPress Spray was easy and quick to apply and
created a protection from the salt water corrosion from
melting snow & ice.

Original Repair Procedure and Result:
Grind down the welds on the damaged step well frame in order to remove the entire unit. Fit a
new step well in place and then welding it securely to the frame. Some fabrication is required to
ensure proper fit prior to welding them in place.

Alternative Repair Procedure with Partsmaster Products and Results:
Clean, degrease and abrade the rusted stairwell. Apply Wear-Flex XPress Bonding Agent. Tape
and mask off area to be coated. Spray with Wear-Flex XPress Spray. Install new rubber tread,
as required.
