I have been feeling a
little stressed lately.
Okay, a lot stressed
with commitments for
organizations I belong
to, a busy paralegal job,
regular chores, and
moving everything off
the floors at home so
new floors can be installed. So what else
would I think about as
I prepare for this commitment of writing an
article. I thought of
balance.
I believe
every paralegal has
found herself or himself in my situation at
one time or another. I
found some quotations
about balance.

that in finding and
maintaining balance,
one must keep moving.
So while my thought
and inclination is that I
should just stall out
and vegetate for a little
while, what would be
better is to be active in
managing my life. So
an active management
of life includes making
decisions that include
how long to work,
knowing when to stop,
and taking that walk or
time out when it is
needed. Learning how
to say no. Productivity
goes down when you
work more than fifty
hours a week. Take
your vacation time.

pursuit of a certificate or degree and is not working as a paralegal; or (2) to any non-Illinois resident residing in a state contiguous to Illinois, and who is
also enrolled in a formal course of paralegal study from an accredited institution in Illinois in pursuit of a certificate or degree and is not working as a

Dues are assessed on a calendar year basis. Membership received during the months of August, September, and October will be held until after
October 1st for the following calendar year. Those new members who join during this time can still attend the Fall Education Conference at the member
rate. Illinois Paralegal Association members are also members of NFPA; a portion of your dues is forwarded to NFPA on your behalf. NFPA will not be
notified of your new membership until after January 1st if you join the IPA after August 1st for the following calendar year.
