Frost The Fire is a wide structured, easy fleshing bull that travels on sounds feet and
legs; it’s hard not to appreciate him for the amount of red meat that he possesses
while at the same time still keeping the eye appeal that breeders look for. Being Daisy’s
first natural bull calf he is sure to carry on the maternal and performance traits that
we praise her for. We believe that Frost The Fire will go on to positive things in the
cattle business, whether that is siring show ring contenders or commercial cattle that
will perform in the feedlot.

Boomer or Buddy
As we don’t need 2 full brothers as herd sires, we are willing to part with one. Pick the one you like the best. We used Boomer on 20 cows this summer
and he continued to grow and fill out through the breeding season.
These are 2 exceptional examples of Ramrod influence. They have length, depth and width. Real Meat machines; add to that their exceptional dispositions.
These are full brothers to Paintearth Walter 58W. Selling in this sale is a daughter of Walter’s. This is a very good example of the offspring these bulls are
capable of producing.

Blizzard was raised by a moderate framed structurally sound heavy milking 2yr old.
His small 76lbs birth weight is only one many positives that this future herdsire has.
He is clean fronted and big footed with lots of natural thickness and style that should
help him produce functional maternal females and solid performing bulls down the
road.

27W had just weaned off a good 660 lb. heifer calf. Well here she is, Crooked Post

Catalina 13Y is quite impressive in her design; smooth made and full of shape. Her
sire, Crooked Post Tamarack 17W, left a tremendous sire group here at Crooked Post
and is now on duty at Cedar Grove in Quebec. In 2008 we raised a group of ET calves
from Waukaru 12H Melita Rose, dam of Waukaru Patent, and from this group Crooked
Post Catalina 7 was drafted into the herd. Her first calf is Catalina 13Y that we offer

After three years of Grissom calves hitting the ground on three continents, he’s
established himself among a small group of the elite; a trait leader in the 2012 American
Sire Summary for six traits which include a combination of calving ease, growth and
maternal indicators. The Grissom progeny maintain and perform well on basic
roughage, his daughters are easy calving, have strong mothering instincts, have tidy
udders with plenty of milk, are docile and level headed. Crooked Post Maria 25Y is
exceptional and is destined to be a great genetic investment.

Lassie 52Y should continue on the Lassie Legacy, they continue to play a large role in
our program. Lassie’s sire, Crooked Post Arbutus, is a full brother to Grissom 24T
that we used heavily for a season before going into a large commercial herd. Lassie
52Y is soft made, yet has a ruggedness about her that would suggest she will be a solid
producer for years to come. We have two K-Kim Dillon / Lassie ET females that we
purchased 9 years ago as heifer calves. A powerful Shorthorn herd could have been
created from these two; their breeding prepotency has impressed many.

breeding Shorthorn cattle that are consistent and predictable in their ability to produce

Here is An ET daughter of Saskvalley Pioneer 126P and Shamrock Lucy 68L that we
never intended to ever offer for sale. Only because we have a flush mate sister and
some full sib pregnancies due next spring, and her dam has another good heifer this
year, have we decided to offer one of our very best. 13Y and her sister are almost
identical, and they are both going to make excellent brood cows. A flush mate brother
was one of our top gaining and top selling bulls in the 2012 Sun Country Bull Sale
selling to Clearsight Farms, Kisbey, SK. Her dam, Shamrock Lucy 68L has done
everything we could have ever hoped for, and this heifer will do the same for her new
owner. Buying this heifer is not just a purchase - it is an investment that will pay major
dividends.

Our Leroy daughters are becoming some of our best producing females and this heifer
has been a standout since birth. She has excellent thickness and is as easy fleshing as
they come. Her dam always has a calf in the top end of the calf crop and she has a
great udder and is fertile and trouble free. The Melody Lady cow family has been one
of the most consistent we have in our herd. This heifer may be horned, but don’t
discount her for that. She is structurally sound in every way and is going to make a
front pasture brood cow.

This heifer was purchased in dam in the 2010 Shadybrook sale, and she is sired by
Waukaru Patent 8161 ET, who has sired outstanding offspring in many countries. A
Patent son, Sprys Patent’s Ace sold for $46,000 at the Sprys Shorthorns sale in
Australia. His offspring at Shadybrook and Waukaru are very impressive. This heifer is
also backed by a great momma who has a flawless udder. This heifer has outstanding
numbers and is backed by performance and predictability. Her Bar Code calf could be
pretty interesting! Bar Code is sired by Pheasant Creek Leader 4th, who was the 1970
Grand Champion and then record seller at the Regina Bull Sale. We have calved 28
heifers to him in 2012 and only assisted one birth - a malpresentation.

We could not be more pleased with how our Touchdown heifers are developing and
when you see this heifer, you will understand why. She is moderate framed, thick, apple
smooth and feminine. Take a look at this heifer’s head. I have heard it said many times,
that a heifers head can tell you almost everything you need to know about her
productive value. I tend to agree and this heifer has a beautiful productive head.
Volumes could be written about the descendents of the Raggedy Ann cow family. This
heifer is very structurally sound in every way. The dam of 25Y has one of our very
best bulls born in 2012 and he will be in our show string this fall. This is a female you
can build a program around and I should have my head read for agreeing to put her in
the sale. Opportunity time! She is entered to show at the Canadian Western Agribition.

Here is a moderate framed heifer that comes from our Sparkle cow family. She is
moderate framed and very easy fleshing, and comes from a first calf heifer. Her
grandmother was a high selling female in the Fever sale and is now working at Cyclone
Trace in Iowa. We don’t have any Hillside Leader daughters in production yet, but the
Bales family in Tennessee, tell us that they have excellent udders and are developing
into very good cows. This heifer is backed by generations of easy fleshing low
maintenance females. Two of our Sparkle cows are presently being flushed for New
Zealand, and embryos from our Sparkle donors have sold to 7 countries.

Maria 2Z is sired by the Australian bull Belmore Jackaroo Z109 from Andy Withers.
Jackaroo excelled in the Durham Research Project and is making waves across
Australian breeding programs. We have plugged Jackaroo into our program for four
years and are very happy with what we’ve created. Maria 2Z has been a favourite from
the beginning, she combines a lot of what is important to us, she is no mistake and to
be quite honest she is really not a surprise to us, she is just what we expect from
these genetics. Reliable, predictable and
profitable; purchase with confidence.
Consignor: Crooked Post Shorthorns - Rocky Mtn. House, AB
P/E: May 6 to August 22, 2012 to Crooked Post Callahan 12Y
It’s with absolute confidence in our breeding program that we are able to offer pairs
such as this. I have difficulty expressing how I feel about this female and her production
this year, she’s just flat out impressive. The Grissom progeny maintain and perform
well on basic roughage, his daughters are easy calving, have strong mothering instincts,
have tidy udders with plenty of milk, are docile and level headed, Crooked Post Maria
14X is another case in point. 11

She is a very well made, balanced female with that extra depth of body. I cannot say
enough about the maternal strengths of her dam and grand dam. Definitely a brood
cow in the making!
This stylish heifer has been a favorite since birth. Her dam is a moderate framed first
calf heifer that is doing an awesome job on this calf. We love the clean front, depth
and thickness of this heifer. Color Me Rona is unquestionably show heifer material
with a bright future. Lot 45 - Shannon’s Sweet Dreams 11Z

Butterfield Winnette 1Z is as pretty a heifer that has ever has been presented by
Butterfield Shorthorns. She is a definite show prospect with a distinctive colour
pattern. Already halter broken, she will make a great junior project. The Winnette cow
family have been producing winners and high sellers since the original cow came from
Bearcroft in the late 70’s.
Sweet Dreams says it all with this exciting heifer prospect. She is stout, long and has
that extra depth of body. We cannot say enough about the potential of this Dream
Weaver daughter. I have retained several siblings in my herd with all of them having
picture perfect udders and an abundance of milk.

PRAIRIE LANE SPARKLE 1K
X MURIDALE BUSTER 14K
Consignor: Horseshoe Creek Farms Ltd - Weyburn, SK
4 Grade One Frozen Embryos
This will be the last time we will offer these genetics. We will have a few Buster
embryos remaining in inventory, and they will all be retained for use in our herd, unless
we find some more semen from him. Muridale Buster 14K semen is now sold out and
here is an opportunity to obtain his offspring from old Sparkle herself. Sparkle is
probably best known as being the dam of Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M, but she has
also produced many other outstanding progeny. Sparkle and one of her daughters have
been selected for several flushes for several New Zealand breeders. Buster 14K is
probably best known for siring great daughters with flawless udders, but he has also
sired many excellent herd sires. These genetics should result in some great offspring !
We will offer a minimum pregnancy guarantee of 50% at 70 days following implantation
providing an experienced embryo technician is used. This means we will guarantee a
minimum of 2 pregnancies from the 4 embryos at 70 days. These embryos are
exportable to most countries.

SIX S LEAH 55L
X MANDALONG SUPER FLAG
Consignor: Horseshoe Creek Farms Ltd - Weyburn, SK
4 Grade One Frozen Embryos
We felt that combining Super Flag from the 70s with our most prolific donor would
result in some excellent offspring. Super Flag was one of the bulls that turned the
breed around in the 70s. Six S Leah 55L is an amazing female in her own right. She is
probably the thickest and deepest bodied cows we have ever owned. Not only is she
impressive in her own right, but she has produced many impressive offspring. We
purchased Leah in the historic Butterfield dispersal where she was described by Phil
as being “a truly monumental mother cow.” Truer words have never been spoken! She
is also our most prolific donor and to date, she has produced 411 grade 1 embryos
and they have been sold to breeders around the world. Everyone who sees Leah is
impressed with her overall mass of body, and she is living proof that some big cows
can be easy fleshing. Regardless of the sexes of the resulting calves, they will be herd
sire or herd matron material. We also will guarantee a minimum pregnancy rate of
50% at 70 days after implantation providing an experienced embryo technician is used.
(i.e.: we will guarantee a minimum of 2 pregnancies from the 4 embryos at 70 days)
These embryos are exportable to most countries.

3 Grade Two Frozen Embryos A blast from the past. The product of two bulls [Enticer & Captain Mark] that have
each played a major role in the development of the Shorthorn breed. The high number
of offspring registered from each of them attests to their prominence and popularity.
Both Captain Mark and Ariel have produced herd bulls that we have used successfully
in our pasture. A unique opportunity to purchase some outstanding genetics.
