Dear Parents / Caregivers
6 April 2016
No 10
During the last two weeks of term all classes are experiencing hockey skills teaching
with Dianne from Project Energise and Steward from Kiwi Sport. The children are
loving the experience. Next week we will include some photos of our budding "Black
Sticks".
As part of the learning about Community, the year 1 & 2 classes are visiting Chartwell
Library tomorrow and Friday. These visits are always very worthwhile.
Assembly last Friday was hosted by Pohutukawa, who are our youngest learners. Some of them
have been at school less than a week. What confident, engaged and enthusiastic little people.
Thank you children and Mrs Kingma.

School Trustees Elections
Boards of Trustees are the governors of a school. The
Principal is responsible for the management of the
school. The Principal is the member of the board and
acts as the board's educational leader and chief
adviser. Governance and management work in
partnership.
We will be calling for 5 nominations;
Parents, Caregivers and people from the wider
community can be nominated for election.
Being a school trustee is an important role that needs
people with a range of skills and experiences, who
believe in making a positive difference to our
children's learning. Step forward and nominate
yourself or someone you know. Look out for
nomination forms in week 1, next term.

This term we have been learning to describe by looking closely and really
noticing the environment around us and what authors do to paint a picture.
A road map of wrinkles covers her face, telling
her story. Faded red lips, barely there, have been
worn with age. Bags under her eyes make her
seem tired. Her whispy hair tries to escape her
head scarf.
Author: Robert
The old woman looks a
hundred and two years old.
You can tell by her many
wrinkles burried into her
poorly looking face. Her
peppery grey hair is tightly
pulled back with a few
whispy bits escaping. Dark
red shades bag under her
crystal clear blue eyes that
are filled with many heart
breaking stories.
Author: Jayda
The bags under her eyes
are a light red shade,
making her look tired and
alone. Her worn lips,
covered in wrinkles, can
barely be seen.
Author: Rayne
Her lips are warn with age
and her lips are barely
visible.
Author: Blaine
The road map on her face
takes over it all. Her eyes
sink into her face.
Author: Mahnaya
Her eyes are a piercing blue, showing me that
she has been through a lot.
Author: Okeroa
She purses her lips, making them
nearly invisible.
Author: Mandy
She looks sad and dull and
yet cheerful on the inside.
Author: PIerce
Her old hunched back
curves over from all the
work and bending she has
done.
Author: Demi
Her vest, old in years,
struggles to shelter her from
the cold. The crows feet on
her face tell us she had a
lovely life when she was
young.
Author: Frmisek
She is from the city and she has to find a job, but the aging process
hasn't been kind to the old woman.
Author: Jefry
Her wrinkles are busy
saying she's worked a lot in
her life helping others.
Author: Seini
She's been through a lot.
Bags under her eyes tell us
where she has been.
Author: Kayci
The old lady looks as if she belongs in an
abandoned house. She struggles to stay warm,
snuggling into her vest, hoping to last the night.
Author: Brooklyn
The aging process hasn't been kind
to the old woman, she has sunken
eyes, road maps of wrinkles and
faded lips. The city has stolen
something from her. Each road map
tells a story of her life.
Author: Aram
The old woman has snowy white hair. She
has a road map written on her face. Her
mouth and eyes tell a story that she
doesn't talk about much.
