WELCOME TO A 6 DAY-LONG CULTURE
FESTIVAL WITH FREE ENTRANCE!
For the seventh year in a row, the city of
Stockholm is treating you to a unique festival
programme designed to provide spellbinding,
scintillating experiences for the whole family.
The whole centre of Stockholm will be transformed into a festival zone and stuffed full of
performance art, music, theatre, children’s
activities, talks, concerts,
dance and
performance.
Details of all
the stages
and themes
are provided
here. Enjoy!
Sergels Torg Square
Kungsträdgården Park
Sergels Torg Square with Plattan, Porten, KulturhusTaket
and Drottninggatan will be seething with theatre, dance,
cabaret, song, music and literary talks.
The Culture Festival is setting up a new stage at the
Culture House by Sergels Torg Square. Live@Studion will
provide pop, rock and electronica from some of the best
young Nordic artists.
Ung08 is Europe’s biggest
festival for young people. It will fill
Kungsträdgården with concerts, clubs, music competitions,
workshops, talks, taster sessions, sport, design – hundreds
of activities from lunchtime until long into the evening for
everyone from 13–19 years of age.
Brunkebergstorg Square
Maxat för Mini, the coolest festival for kids,
takes over Brunkebergstorg during the day.
Towards evening, Brunkeberg turns into a
relaxed hang-out spot where you can hear lively
jazz, country, soul, folk and world music.
Gustav Adolfs Torg Square
The biggest stage is at Gustav Adolfs Torg. Talented artists from around the world will put on show
after dazzling show. This year’s festival closes with
a club at Gustav Adolfs Torg, with DJ’s on the
stage and the whole square as a dancefloor.

TUESDAY HIGHLIGHTS Start the festival by going down to Plattan
and visiting At Home with Leandre (ES). The charismatic,
Catalonian clown who, rather than calling himself homeless, has
decided that the street is his home. He’ll settle down right in
the middle of central Stockholm.
The Cullberg Ballet is Sweden’s best known dance
company. In their performance Playback, the audience get
to choreograph the dancers and together they create some
unique short dance pieces in Porten.
Then it’s time to return to Plattan, where you’ll find a euphoric rave circus with Sweden’s most experimental performance
artists Sirqus Alfon. After all the madness, it’ll be great to relax
and grab a bite to eat while listening to folk and country music
at Brunkebergstorg. You’ll hear Sofie Livebrant, New Country
Rehab (CA) and Outhouse Allstars.
Round off the evening with Voala Project: Muare’s (AR/ES)

writers, art exhibitions, flea markets and much more.
August Strindberg – Strindbergland

inhabited, created and influenced. Throughout 2012,
Swedish author and playwriter August Strindberg
(1849 –1912) is being celebrated, both in Sweden and
abroad. We take a closer look at our friend August, with a
programme that illuminates his work, his favourite music
and his favourite places in Stockholm.

THURSDAY 16/8
THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS Opera improvisation is a rare sight, but
in Porten, you’ll have the chance to see the Swedish Opera
Improvisers! They’ll whip up a chamber opera from Mozart’s
music, with no pre-written material. After that you might fancy
something a little more normal, such as Cirkus Normal. Find
them at Maxat för mini
Then head for Plattan and look for some rather tall, peculiar
pensioners. If you find any, you can bet they’re Fadunito (ES)
from Catalonia, who explore the inaccessibility of urban space
with a pensioners’ performance.
Time to rest your tired legs and listen to a little Swedish
music at Brunkeberg. First on stage is Lena Swanberg with
her dramatic singer/songwriter pop. After that, the acclaimed
Linnéa Olsson will perform with her powerful cello and
mellow pop songs. Last on are Jeremias Session Band, with
an innovative musical blend rooted in Swedish folk song.
Before the evening ends, you should find time to visit
Live@Studion, where the spotlight is on the wonders of the
Nordic music scene. Norwegian ska-pop band Razika (NO)
step up for some cool tunes.
