2010 in Review
The SCTA Board of Directors would like to
thank the members for their input and contributions this last year. It has been a productive year
for trail maintenance work. Unlike 2009,
which was a very wet year, we were able to
work on and improve our trails in 2010.
Many thanks to all who worked so hard on keeping our trails in good shape.
We have had several special events at the
pavilion this season. Jack and Mary Jo Peacock
and Tom and Pat Seay hosted a great gettogether with good food and plenty of free horse
related items given away to those who were in
attendance. Also, we had a weenie roast hosted
by Tracey and Danny Hatcher and Claudia and
Brian Matchette, with good hotdogs and plenty
of potluck goodies brought by the rest of the people who were there.
A big thanks goes out to our musical entertainers: Jeff Crouch and Lee Allen who kept
our toes a tappin’.
Work on the pavilion bathrooms and storage
area has been completed, thanks to Ken Pasternack and his helpers.
Winterizing tips:
Disconnect and drain
garden hoses.
Clean chimney to remove soot and creosote.
If needed, install or

Spruce Creek Trails Work
We have had good weather this
year so work on the trails could be
done. Danny Hatcher, Ricky
Rains, Tom Pickard, Ivan Whitehead, Ned Helm, Sharon Vaughn
and Dino did most of the work. If
I missed mentioning anyone
please accept my apology and
know that your work on the trail
system is greatly appreciated.
Several of the items (closed and
open) will be an on-going maintenance problem. This is mainly
due to the terrain and drainage.
Some things we can overcome, but
large boulders we cannot.
If you come across a problem
on the trails PLEASE send an
email to the newsletter email:
[email protected]
Laurie LeRoy has kept a log on the
trail work needed as it is brought to
the attention of the board. Currently there are fifteen items, ten
items have been completed, and 5
are still open.
Or you can contact Danny
Hatcher who heads up the work on
the trails. A copy of the trail log
has been included as an attachment to the newsletter.
2011 YEARLY MEMBERSHIP DUES
Yes, it’s that time again folks.
SCTA 2011 membership fees will
be due in January . Be ahead of
the crowd…...we encourage you to
pay them now so you won’t forget.
An application form is included
as an attachment. So take a minute and fill it out and send in
your dues.
As a part of your dues, you
will receive the SCTA Newsletter
and email updates of important
items. You can also use the
newsletter to post classifieds :
promoting your business, services
that you can offer, or things for
sale. If you don’t pay your dues
you will not get advanced notice
of the upcoming events at the
pavilion and any special festivi-
ties that are planned.
The amount of the dues has
not been increased . It is still
only $35.00. ($ 39 if you want the
newsletter via U.S. Mail)
This money goes to the upkeep of the pavilion and trail
work. Since most of us are not
able to do the manual labor that
is required for the trails, we have
to hire out this work. Also, we
have to purchase the rock and
materials used on the upkeep of
the trails...as an example, a load
of rock will cost $300. This can
add up fast when you have trails
with drainage problems.
Please show your support for
the Spruce Creek Trails.
If you have any questions regarding the trails and their condition, send a comment/question
to the newsletter.
