News from around the Campus File Your FAFSFA - There’s Still Time! Submitted by Will Adamchik If you have not already done so, it's not too late to file your 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can file the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. Just be sure to have your 2010 income information available. For students who filed the 2011-2012 FAFSA early using estimate income figures, you should to go back to www.fafsa.gov to update your application once you've filed your 2010 federal taxes. It's easy when you use the IRS Data Retrieval tool to import your income figures! Complete your application today! All students should make it a habit to go to ULink to view their Financial Aid To Do List. If the Student Financial Aid Office requires any additional information from you, it will be requested there. Summer Pell Grant Submitted by Will Adamchik The application for summer financial aid will be available in April once summer registration starts. Students can apply for aid via ULink once they've finalized their class schedule. New federal regulations allow students who are Pell Grant-eligible to receive up to a full semester's grant for summer school. To take advantage of these available funds, students should consider attending summer school. When awarding Pell Grants for summer 2011, the university must use the EFC from either the 2011 or 2012 award year based on which one offers the student the highest Pell award amount. In order to be considered for the highest award amount, be sure to have both your 2010-2011 FAFSA and your 2011-2012 FAFSA on file. File your FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. CHECKLIST: College of Business Students: Submitted by Linda Smith The College of Business Reinhardt Academic Center will no longer have “Walk-in Advising” for Summer and Fall 2011 Priority Registration (April 5-13). #1: Check ulink to see if you have an advising hold. All students will be required to make an advising appointment. #2: If you do, call A&S Advising at 852-5502 or your departmental advisor to make an appointment. Please call 852-7439 #3: Show up for that appointment! #4: Talk to your advisor about your long-term academic plans . #5: Get registered for Summer/Fall 2011! or stop by our office (COB, Room 024) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Fridays) to make your appointment. Cooking Workshop March 22, 12-1:15 p.m. Taught by Jim Whaley, this cooking and nutrition workshop will teach you basic cooking skills and great nutritional information. March Madness games will be shown in the iTech Zone, located in the Miller IT Center across from McAlister's. The hi-def nine-screen video wall is just like having court-side seats for all of the action. Here's the schedule: March 15-18 daily until 5 p.m. March 21-24 daily until 8 p.m. March 25 until 5 p.m. March 28-31 daily until 8 p.m. April 1 until 5 p.m. April 4 until 8 p.m. There will be no weekend showings.
