MANUAL
The first section (of t h e manual) is a
basic tutorial. The grass roots
information is here and I could not find
a n y major mistakes. T h e second part is
on Noddy giving a good guide as to how
it can be w r i t t e n . . . . T h e third and
fourth sections are on graphics and
sound. Both a r e quite detailed and easy
to follow. The fifth section is on how to
i n t e r f a c e Assembler to Basic.

The MTX ROM has been designed to

b e t w e e n c o m p o n e n t s of t h e s o f t w a r e .
A single p r o g r a m can be writte n which
uses NODDY to display text and
graphics, a nd a BASIC control p r o g r a m
which calls r o u t i n e s w r i t t e n in
assembly code. This Is a f e a t u r e of
f u t u r e g e n e r a t i o n c o m p u t e r s not
available on a n y o t h e r micro.
BASIC
The Basic is fast and accurate, all t h e
calculations being d o n e in floating point
maths, so that you don't lose accuracy
to gain speed.

T h e Assembler can be accessed
t h r o u g h BASIC. When used in
c o n j u n c t i o n with the PANEL it e n a b l e s
t h e p r o g r a m m e r to single step t h r o u g h
and test m a c h i n e code programs. This
is not new to c o m p u t i n g, but it is to a
h o m e micro.
As well as being able to modify and
disassemble sections of code, y o u can
set break points, examine and alter
register values, and even single step

debugging aids.

The MTX Series is a m o r e p o w e r f u l
tool for e d u c a t i o n t h a n the 6502
b e c a u s e it p r o d u c e s a more p o w e r f u l
assembler, allows t h e PANEL functio n
to be used, and e n a b l e s i n t e g r a t e d
s o f t w a r e to be w r i t t e n .
RML's 450Z h a s a (PANEL) functio n but
that is a computer which costs
considerably more than t h e MTX 500.

16 x 16. T h e y are easy to use and
define and do not u se extra memory as
in the BBC B because they have their

As well as good graphics capability t h e
MTX boasts the same sound chip as t h e
BBC micro - the Texas 76489. It has
three t o n e channels and one noise
channel, and is easily controlled from
Basic. Volume and f r e q u e n cy can also
be controlled, using a much easier
method than the 14 parameters needed
by t h e BBC.
